I went to this school from kindergarten through 5th grade. It was the best elementary school there is around, I know this because I am having a hard time finding even a decent school for my kids to go to. Your kid should be so lucky to be attending such a good school. Appreciate it!
This school gives you the runaround when you have a child with a disability that needs accommodations. I had to go to the district to get anything done. Now we have a section 504 but each step of the way they need a doctor's note which cost me $25 a piece. They didn't believe my letter stating side effects, they wanted it from the doc. Each time they have changed his meds I have to pay another $25. Screwy school! They refused to test him despite all these letters and a letter from me.

My son goes to this school. Last year we had an incident wherein one kid put an open siccors into my son's throat and was not satisfied with the way everyone handled the situacion, even the police department. Some of the teachers are arrogant and some are pleasant. My son is a 5th grader and his teacher Mrs Mahler is wonderful compare to his 2nd and 3rd grade teacher. I personally disliked their attitude and lack of love and care for the students. I am constantly involved in my child's education and worked hard side by side with my kid so he can keep high grades despite of one teacher telling me that I should not spent too much time tutoring my child. I was dissapointed to hear this from a teacher.

I love this school. The Principal Mrs Chiet is so involved. Her door is always open to parents and students. My son attended K-5, he received help when needed. 5th grade teacher Mrs. Delmonico is an amazing teacher. She took the time to help my son to do his best in her class. His 5th grade year is his favorite year at Horizon. Keep up the good work.

My daughter went to Kindergarten there....one day she came home and said she had a new teacher...I was not happy that they changed her class without informing the parents first (they cut a K teacher to adhere to the classroom ratio..and moved her to another grade level.) Her new teacher was AMAZING, and she had a great first year of school. The staff are all AWESOME there, but I am not happy with the quality of students there. My daughter got slapped across the face in aftercare by a much older child...then again she got hit by a kid who wanted to be the line leader?the last week of school a 5th grader stole her lunch, but it was caught on camera and was properly handled. I was heartbroken to hear that my daughter was crying her eyes out and without lunch..when the teacher saw her crying, she shared HER OWN lunch with her. I volunteered there weekly and saw fights in the cafeteria. the school lunches were ice cold...until I complained to the school board.the school IS a uniformed school but it is NOT enforced..so I would say 20% of the kids wear them... so what's the point??? There is much more I can say... but I am out of characters.. we are not going back next year....:(

It moves me to tears to think that if we hadn't moved to Horizon's school boudaries my son would not have recieved the personal attention and dedication that he has gotten from his teacher this year. I love this school. The principal is wonderful. The staff is wonderful. They truely care, and I know from experience, that is hard to find. Love it!

They helped my troubled grandson acheive some sort of success after his many years of failing.
It is a great school with great teachers and wonderful principal and staff. The principal is very involved in knowing what's going on with all srudents and parents. I have been at this school for 15 years and my kids have done great at this school. I am involved with Pta and have been a board member for several years.

As a parent of two growing boys ,it is my opinion that Horizon Elementary is an award winning school. At Horizon Elementary the standards are simple treat the children as your own,be aware that they are open to learning and growing, and above all else if a child is struggling, be sure to provide more help for that child. My children have been attending Horizon since 2005 and in that time I have seen them grow tremendously and because of their growth I have become a volunteer. The Teachers and staff at Horizon Elementary are well educated ,Extremely nice, very caring, and open to idea's and suggestions of parents. As a parent I am very comfortable knowing my children are receiving the best education in a growing time of their lives. Again , it is my opinion Horizon Elementary not only deserves this award ,but also needs it to continue providing quality education for the children. Respectfully, Debra Weissgerber

Horizon Elementary It's a great school with dedicated teachers and administrators lead by an awesome principal, she cares for the education of all children. An A school that have the best interest of your child education in mine where your voice is heard and your concern and questions are never look as little issues because your child education is priority # 1. Even in this hard economy where they had to make due with less resources than previous year, the school continue to stress the value of getting involved and partnering in your child education as the solution for your child academic success.

My daughter has been a student here for 4 years and has received an excellent education. We actually pulled her out of a private school for the gifted program. She is constantly challenged and in a stimulating environment. She participates in 3 after school activities, bell choir, advanced chorus and chess club.

I have two children who attend Horizon and I have to say that I love this school. My children were blessed to have a warm, caring and absolutely wonderful Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Deater. The staff are amazing and the principal, Nora Chiet, is among the best. They are all very involved with the parents and the community. Mrs. Chiet was nominated for principal of the year and she so deserves it. Every morning she is outside cheerfully greeting the children and the parents as they arrive at school. She knows every student and almost every parent by name and is available at the drop of a hat for anything. Mr. Henning the vice principal and Mr. Rosenberg the guidance councelor are just as wonderful. Again, everyone I talk to says the same thing, 'we love this school.'

My children have attended Horizon since K, and it is a great school. All the teachers are caring and attentive to any problems. It is over crowded. The principal is awesome.

I am impressed by how much my daughter has learned since starting at Horizon. The teachers there are wonderful and the principal is a very caring and involved person. My only concern is that the school is overcrowded and the problem is getting worse. There are no specials that they leave their classroom for since all available space is being used. Even the library is unusable since it is a classroom. The staff is doing their best with the available resourses But I would prefer less students or more space.

Very happy with school. My daughter is doing well here. Parent's are very involved and they have an excellent PTA. My only concern is the overcrowding starting to occur in the schoo. Otherwise, I am am happy parent.

Some of the teachers are good but it is a poor school and there are a lot of students from other cities there, it is also a Title 1 school (that should explain everything).

My two children attend horizon elementary school, and although I have no complaint of the teachers and staff, because everyone seems to be dedicated to the students and their well-beings. But at least once a week one or the other of my children is in the clinic due to the complaint of the food that is served for lunch, once one of them had a problem with the breakfast. My children aren't picky eaters but some days they say mom I didn't eat today cause the food was cold in the middle, or it was nasty, or something, and when they do eat sometimes they're in the bathroom right after or the clinic. I have also asked other students in my family that attend this school have the same complaints, but they've been bringing their own lunch and from now on so will my kids. The food is terrible.

I have 3 children in this school, one in K, one in 1st, and one in 3rd. I am a bit concerned with the structure the kindergaten class has because they never send any homework and I don't see much progress in my sons learning. My first grader seems to be doing great, and my third graders teacher is very attentive.

I think that Horizon Elementary is a wonderful school. My daughter went there from K-5 and my son is currently in Kindergarten. All of the staff are exceptional with the children and make it a loving environment for our children to learn and grow. I wish the parents would get more involved in their children's education. I am proud to say my children attend/ed Horizon Elementary. My hats off to all of you!
