Leon High is a great school with lots to offer in extracurricular and a very safe school.

I attended here from 1995-1999 before the new high school opened at that time Leon was clearly the flagship highschool for the county. the best teachers, highest achieving pupils, etc. I wouldn't have traded the tradition and high quality education for anything in the world.

I have two students at this school. I like the faculty, curriculum and extra curricular offerings. To date my students have had a positive high school experience, thanks to the faculty.

This school is so unorganized. They don't prepare our children with the necessary tools needed to take big Florida tests like FCAT, SAT, ACT, and CPT. These test are required if you plan on going to a four-year university and how are our kids going to do that if they dont have the necessary brain.

Leon is probably a great school for the highly self motivated student in honors and AP classes. However, if your student has any special issues and needs to take a non-honors class, watch out. The teachers expect little of the students, feel they don't need to teach these students that can't learn (in their opinion) and in fact insult the students. What a shock! It is hard to communicate with the teachers, even with e-mail. The diversity at Leon is good, the extracurriculars provide any avenue for almost everyone to participate. I'm afraid that Leon is riding on its laurels of being an A school and focusing on those highly self motivated student and leave the rest to die on the vine. If I could find an acceptable alternative, I certainly would.

My son left Florida High for Leon this year, the ninth grade. The Leon teachers and staff are extremely competent and are always available, interested and involved with our family. Thank you Leon for helping us to feel at home and for treating our son as an individual.

My daughter transferred from Florida High to Leon at the start of her 10th grade year. I am completely thrilled with her move to Leon, as is my daughter, and think that she will thrive here both educationally, as well as personally. Thank you Leon staff and teachers for making both of us feel so welcomed!
