The School of Arts and Sciences is one of the best schools I have ever been involved with. They were rated as one of the eight top charter schools by the Department of Education. We have been used as a model by several other schools. The students enjoy learning, which is the key to a good school.

School of Arts and Sciences is a unique school where children learn through real life experiences. Instead of reading a chapter in a text book about bugs, these students go outside and touch a bug! They perform every week in a friendly, encouraging environment which gives all the students the confidence to get up, take chances and excel. My oldest child is in high school now, after going to SAS from K-8, and he was so well prepared for the challenges of a large school offering advanced academics. SAS is a gem and we are lucky to have it in Tallahassee.

SAS is the BEST school for our children! The teachers are absolutely amazing, the curriculum is absolutely hands on and extremely fun for the children. They have so much fun learning, half the time they don't even know that they are learning, they think it's just FUN!

They are a small environment- which allows them to specialize in children! my son had been bullied in other schools- and now, comes home singing again. I haven't heard him sing since he started school a few years back!

This is my child's first year at this school and she loves it. She bounces out of bed in the morning excited about going going to school. The learning at S.A.S. is hands-on, the student-teacher ratio is smaller than traditional public schools, and the atmosphere is very family-friendly. My child's reading and math skills have improved dramatically, and she really enjoys the weekly gardening, music, art, and P.E. classes, as well. This school provides a loving environment and a challenging curriculum. We couldn't be happier!

Our family has been very lucky in having one of our children attend SAS for the last two years. It is a truly wonderful school with excellent teachers who are extremely involved with the children they teach. The curriculum is magnificent, their teaching skills are unmatched and our daughter has just blossomed at SAS. The level of parent participation is absolutely excellent and it's absolutely a joy to participate in their fieldtrips. I recommend this school to anyone! This next school year, our younger son will be attending and we are looking forward to seeing him blossom and grow the same way our daughter has, with the same wonderful, smiling faces his sister has had for the last two years. It is a very positive and encouraging envionment for the children that attend, which is very important to us. We love it!

M child attended the School of Arts & Sciences Charter school for 6 years. Good things include: multi-grade classes and having the same teacher for more than one year, an unbelievably extraodinary award winning afterschool program for diversified further learning experiences, small middle school which fosters a real family feeling so kids don't 'get lost' at this critical developmental stage, a superior middle school gifted mentorship program in science. Less than wonderful things include: Lack of accountability for the main administrative leadership, loss of many experieced middle school teachers replaced with younger less experienced teachers, little to no athletics. Original charter ideals somewhat watered down due to realties of public school mandates, but still lots of 'peace, love and tie dye' to go share.

SAS is the perfect school for our 12 year-old daughter. The science and art (drama)curriculum here is spectacular, as is the band program. Our only concern is the math curriculum, which seems to be a bit behind the program Jess had at her elementary school; the elementary program she took was 'gifted,' though. The school does not stress sports, and this is okay with my wife and me. Parental involvement is a requirement at this wonderful school, and with only a couple of hundred students, most every need seems to be met. We only wish they had a high school program as well.

My son who is going into 4th grade has really blossomed since coming to The School of Arts and Sciences. He is more confident of himself, has many new interests and hobbies. The atmosphere is very different than most public schools, in that it has more of a 'community' feeling. The kids are treated more as individuals and their individual learning needs are addressed. Since it is a small school, the teachers and principal seem to know all of the children and they all get together each week for a small assembly. I now have an upcoming kindergartener and couldn't be happier to have her enrolled in SAS. I know she will get the attention needed to become a confident, bright, child who loves to learn.

I am an 8th grader. I have enjoyed my time at sas. I believe it to be a wonderful school for those who can commit themselves to the open curiculum of the school.

I have two kids at SAS and we've been here since it opened. The teachers and their individual commitment is incredible as are the adults in the extended day program. Besides becoming motivated learners the kids are blossoming in their overall development here.It is fascinating to be a part of this schools growth. It is a community!
