Challenger Elementary School

im now in 7th but while a child i went to this school, im serious when i say this school is amazing. The principle does not put up with no drama, and bullying is unexcitble, if it does take place they will take care off it. They have an aftercare for all the parents that work the later days and it is fun for the children. There are games and very intresting, amusing activites instored for them. They keep cops on duty all day, and have very safe system. There restrooms and catfrics are very clean. Everyday the principle greets you wormly and tells you to have a great day. The parents can get very involved by th PTA and the activies as staff. Its a very happy and joyful school, and is also an "A" school! They treat the kids to huge field trips and they ebjoy them. Though when it is time to work, it is time to work! They prepar you for thr FCAT and work you hard! Giving you homework nonstop, but you know what it pays off. Cause that is why it is an "A" school. At a time when i waz in 4th grade there, there where so many students, over 400, and if i could remember some of them has to leave because there where to many. Trust me you will enjoy this school. I recomend it to the highest

I had my daughter reassigned to this school last year and we are extremely pleased. Principal Maria Bach is "Hands on" and greets all students at the front door warmly. This school is bright, clean, happy and unlike many other Broward schools.....they still have music and art! They also have math night, halloween night and so many other parties that gets the parents involved....and this school has involved parents which sometimes is hard to find. There is very little turnover with teachers there so that tells you that they are happy working there. Many if not most have been there since the school opened. I recommend this school very highly.

I'm a 5th grader at Challenger Elementary! I'v been going there since kindergarten. I have always LOVED the school! They have great cafeteria food and sanitary restrooms avaliable as needed! Most of the teachers are VERY SUPPORTIVE! They help improve skills so you pass to the next grade! Bullying is unacceptable there and if there is bullying happening to you or someone else, you can talk the school officer on or the principal and the vice principal, or even responsiable adult! The officers ,teachers, and the principals want you to reach our goasl! They also treat you with respect and kindness! They also encourage you to read more! They also have after school tutoring to improve your skills! They have specials and clubs such as math club, cheerleding, student government, singing stars, recorder club and more! I recommend this school to those ready for great supportive teachers & staff, lots of kindness, respect and a lot more!

Try Malachy in Tamarac. We moved our child there and he excelled tremendously. No FCATs! They have so much more time with each child and every class is very small. Lots more benefits at this school!

Challenger's leadership should focus more on listening to parents concerns before making a decision on what they believe/think the issue is. My child was advanced academically however, was not challenged and became very bored. A lot of the curriculum for his grade level he had completed previously. Instead of focusing on addressing my concerns, I felt ignored. This school did not provide the educational experience my child deserved. I decided to move my child to another school that was better equipped to handle students in similar situations.

Challanger-needs to look a kids that have problems and listen to the parent of childern and help the parent find out what's wrong with the child instead of telling them he will out grow it. Instead of going to the next step the push these kids to the side. They need to take care of our child better.

My daughter is finishing up the 5th grade this year. She was a transfer student from Weston and was really behind academically, it is an advanced school. It was a great experience.

This is our son's first year attending the school. I thought the music, art, & sports(P.E.) would be more in the planned agenda. It works as a 9 weeks 'special' not as a set day is 45min of music a set day of P.E. etc....

Challenger elementary is a great school. I am glad to have my daughter attend this school. Safety is the # 1 priority and education is the second. Everytime I visit the school I always see the presence of a school official near by, to monitor school surroundings and activity betweenthe adults and kids. They send out monthly newsletters keeping you up to date as to the different activities and accomplishments the school has made.

The school is good but It seems that it is so concerned with being a 'A' school it forgets the child as a person.It has a element of coldness.

Children who need intervention while in 1st grade - should receive it without the parent asking all the time.

The educational programs for reading and math are not consistent. For example, both of my daughters attend Challenger. My older child became part of a pilot math program. She participated at Grade 2 and 3. By 4th grade the program was dismantled. This left her 'behind' other students comparatively speaking. Example #2 My younger daughter also participated in a vocabulary pilot. In second grade her spelling and vocabulary words were more age appropriate for a 4th or 5th grader. I expected that the program would have continued into 3rd grade. Instead it too was not continued. After school Pick up process (drivers) does not require ID. Teachers are too subjective in their approach. Extracurricual activitis are not geared toward future career development but are more festive and seasonal in nature. Newspaper club does not start until December/January.

Challenger Elementary is an excellent school. They take extra care in providing safety measures for the children. The school overall is very consistent in education, discipline and safety. I have been very happy with the school and I find it to be superior to most public elementary schools.

I believe that the academic programs are good, but that class size is an issue in regards to what the teacher can get across to the students, when they have 2 classrooms in 1 room. Even though there are 2 teachers, I don't think it is a good idea. I know that extracurricular activities usually get cut from the budget, but this school rotates so that the child is able to participate in each one about every 4 to 6 weeks. Parent involvement is good, but at times there seems to be favoritism to students whose parents are in the PTA. I think that someone needs to be at the cross walks to ensure safety of the children. Even though there is a crossing guard, parents dropping off children do not pay attention, and there have been close calls of children getting hit in the cross walks.

My son started school there in october of last year, since then he's been doing better than his last school.There are some concerns I would like to issue, in the morning there are hardly any police officers, I see parents entering through the exits, dropping students off in traffic, there are no using cellular phones in the car pool lane, I think signs should be posted for people to see, overall great school!
