My 2 daughters are attending to this school, since they were babies. DayCare, VPK, Kindergarden and now they are in 2nd a 3rd grade. Very friendly enviroment as well as people. The School is growing. Very good teachers and their techniques to teach are very good. My daughters are A+ in reading, math; and the most important part is to feel that they want to be at School every morning. Extra activities (karate) a plus. If you ever want to take the kids, to a safe, clean, nice, friendly school, this is the one. Some of our friends took the kids out of this school and went to Renaissance Charter and I can tell you, that they are thinking about bringing the kids back!!!!

My 2 children have had the honor of attending Excelsior Charter since kindergarten. My 5th grade daughter graduates this spring w/a stack of straight A report cards & a wall full of Principal's Honor Roll certificates earned over the years. Her 10th grade reading comprehension level is evidence of how much Excelsior values extracurricular reading. My 2nd grade son is reading at a 5th grade level & has his own wall full of Honor Roll certificates & A/B report cards as well. Both of my children enjoy a small class size (17) & the benefit of individualized attention. My son struggles w/dyslexia & ADHD & his teacher bends over backward to accomodate his special needs. In my 6 years as a parent of Excelsior students, I've never once been disrespected or dismissed. The entire staff know both my children by name, from Principal Baez to Ms. Elsa the lunch caterer. Walk through the front doors of this school & the love for the students & the yearning for their success permeates the air. My kids are learning Spanish & Karate, they learn on interactive Promethian Boards & lap tops in Technology, & Science is taught w/a mobile lab. An exceptional school filled w/stellar teachers & lots of LOVE

This school is quickly crumbling! They have an assistant principal that did not even complete a 4 year college degree and cannot speak English properly. Any highly qualified teachers that were there, quickly left for a better working environment. While the principal has a good vision, he leaves the daily routines up to people who are incompetent and unqualified. Students are not held accountable for their actions, and discipline is a joke; students get away with misbehaving and bullying. If you want your child to get a quality education, do not register here! In addition, the administration speaks Spanish and is rude to English speaking faculty, students, and parents. It has gone as far, as the unqualified Assistant Principal slamming doors in the face of parents and making remarks such as "I don't care, take your child out, I can put another but in the seat." Children are not numbers, they are precious, and are the future of this world, apparently the AP doesn't know that or respect it. Again, take the warning seriously, if you are enrolled-withdraw; if you are considering-please look somewhere else. Your child can do better.

I cannot believe that this school still has a charter! My child is in the FCAT grades, and this school has not done anything to help prepare my child. Luckily, I was able to put my child into a public school before the damage was irreversible. The school has allowed its best teachers to walk away, and instead of trying to improve, they make false promises and never follow through! They continually ask parents for money, but never explain where the money is going. If you are thinking of registering at this school, take a parent's advice-don't! I was lucky to get my child out before it was too late.

The teachers are completely overworked and treated like robots. They overburden teachers with to many petty rules and procedures which gets in the way of effective teaching. If you don't want to be mircro managed and treated like a child avoid this place.. Mr. Baez plays good cop while, he has his admin play the bad cop role. This explains why he keeps a stack of resumes on his desk. He's always ready to hire his next throw away teacher. The facts are the facts. They have a huge turn over rate here.

Please save yourself the torment. The staff is sub-par and lacks processes. They are only about raising money, not your childs education.

Great school overall!! Parent involvement and teacher communication with parents is paramount and they all live up to that - children are very advanced and ecouraged to read daily and be consistent with their school work and performance..

I really like the ciriculum, and the fact that your child is not lost in the shuffle as in the larger schools. Everyone knows your child from the secretary to the principle. The staff are very helpful and informative

I love this school and the staff. This a charter school which means it's open to anyone in Broward but since it's charter it has small class sizes and extreme one on one contact with each student and parent. With cameras in each classroom for parents to check in on their child's day, a pool in the playground area, a new library being built for 2008, laptops for the classrooms, front door always locked, must be buzzed in, new out door coverd cafeteria, karate classes, Spanish classes and theater classes (coming soon) all for elemenatry school children. My daughter went to VPK at American Eagle which is located in the same building and run by the same director. My 2 year old son will definitly being following in his 5 year old sister's footsteps. We play and live in Tamarac and this school is our foundation.

Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
