Ballast Point is a great school with caring teachers. We have been very pleased with the education our daughter has received over the last 4 years. We only had one classroom that wasn't a good fit for our child and the principal worked with us to resolve the program. The HOST program used to be a good program but was horrible the last 2 years. Fortunately there is a fantastic new after school program at the church across the street. Thank you Ballast Point for providing our daughter with a great education.
Ballast Point is a wonderful school. I have one child in 2nd and have already had one child graduate fifth grade. Every year has been a wonderful experience. The teachers are caring and take the extra time needed to meet the needs of ALL children. I feel very fortunate to live in this school's zone.
LOVE this school! Our son finished Kindergarden this year. At the beginning of the year I was very apprehensive about our little boy starting Elementary School. I had a lot of questions and concerns, however, the teachers and specifically the principal, Ms. Debbie Fitzpatrick took time out of her busy schedule to put my mind at ease. On a few occasions she checked in on our son for us and reported back how he was doing. We are very blessed to be in this school district!
I agree that Ballast Point might be a good school if your child "fits in" and does not have any learning disablities or special needs. However, if you have a child that requires any educational accomdations outside of OR as a supplement to a regular classroom setting is a complete and total nightmare to work with. It's so unfair to the child. The HOST program is horrible as well!!
My son started there in the ASD classes last year, and has been mainstreamed for about a month so far, and counting. The teachers challenge him & keep him on his toes, which is good. The school itself get 5 stars, hands down. The HOST program after school, however, would get 0-1 stars. The expectations from kids as young as 4 & 5 years old is unrealistic, and kids are being kicked out permanently on a fairly regular basis. Lord help you if your child has special needs, as they are unflexible (even if you have an IEP), and inept under their new management this year, at best. At worst, they have no business being around young kids.
This school may be good if your child fits in with the average student; however, if you have a child that requires a different educational approach or additional accomdations to be able to learn, working with this school is a total nightmare. It's so unfair to the child.
Ballast Point Elementary has a great faculty and staff. The principal's leadership is strong, and there are great relationships with the community. The school has consistently improved the quality of its education and has had an A rating for almost a decade! My children love it. On top of it, it is a historic school with a great learning environment.
Ballast Point Elementary is an outstanding School with amazing teachers and support staff. Everyone there takes pride in the school and our community and It has been a great overall experience for my daughter and I. We look forward to the fifth grade!!
I have twin boys who attend the autism program in this school. They are 5 now and this is their third school, and it is the best school they have ever been in. Combined with private therapies, they are thriving, growing and doing exceptionally well. It is hard to get therapies in this school district, but this school, teachers and IEP team do all they can to get your child what they need. I am recognized and greeted every time I walk in, and the teachers meet with me whenever I ask. Their teacher has become a family friend. I would definitely recommend this school, especially if you have a special needs child of any type. Mrs. Frick is the principal now and she is great. She will personally walk my son to his class just because he wants her to anytime he asks.
this is the most warm and friendly school I have ever enrolled my children in. from principal, to teachers, librarians, nurses,secretaries,guidance...all of the staff are so nice and non-judgemental.they have one agenda and that is the education and the safety of the children who go there.kudos to you Ballast Point ...and sadly farewell.
it is a very nice school I have 2 kids in the school and their teachers are the best teachers my kids ever had.
I love this school. I often call it the private school without the tuition. I no longer live in the neighborhood but I drive the extra 25 minutes each morning to take my children. The teachers and staff are wonderful. I really have not been disappointed at all by this school. If you can get special permission for your child to attend it is well worth it.
We loe Ballast Point and would highly recommend it. The small class sizes are wonderful in these days of overcrowding. The staff is motivated and happy. The air is filled with positive attitude. Mrs. Cunningham, principal, is extremely supportive of her staff, and it shows in their dedication to the students. Parent involvement is high, and encouraged by the staff. The PTA is great, too. Can't say enough about the wonderful education my child is getting. Would love to see some after school clubs or activities.
I absolutely love this school! The faculty and staff all work together so well and are always willing to lend a helping hand. The principal offers an overwhelming amount of support to the teachers and goes above and beyond to make accomodations for teachers, parents and students. I am so happy with Ballast Point!
Excellent programs ranging from ESL to Gifted. The program for Autistic children is wonderful. The teachers truly care about the students and offers great motivation and rewards for good citizenship, grades, & attendance!
This school has excellent academic programs and the teachers are just amazing. I have been so happy with the quality of education my children are receiving. I encourage you to check this school out, it is worth your time!
Ballast Point is an excellent neighborhood gaining more and more parent involvement. The staff is excellent and the school is an ideal size. The reading program is strong as well as mathematic. It is a great place for a child to learn at a natural pace - taking childhood as a journey instead of a race. The athletics coach does an excellent job of teaching game skills and the kids seem to have a great time. The music teacher combines teaching the basics of music with some dance moves and choreography to the songs he teaches. I have been very pleased with all of the staff I have worked with - I volunteer frequently at the school.
Ballast Point is a grade A school and is a great little school in South Tampa. There are wonderful teachers and they go out of their way to accomodate all students.
Great small school environment. They know all kids by name and care about education. Recommended!
