I love both my boy s teachers at lanier as well as all staff are wonderfully they really care about the kids. They have done wonderful in teaching my boys which were staffed to lanier from grady because they have learning disabilities... and lanier is the best qualified school because they are excelling immensely!! I am so thankful that someone somewhere is invested in the education of these children! <3 thank you lanier!

My daughters teachers are doing well to teach her things she needs to know, and have helped her get on level. But the thing I don't like about this school is that there are no buses. When you live 1.3 miles from the school and do not have a car, your walking 5.2 miles each day to and from the school in scorching heat. Another issue is when it is raining/storming, your expected to get your child to school/from school with NO vehicle, and have no one to give you a ride. When I brought this issue up, I was told "maybe you can get another parent to give your kid a ride/take her home" SURE, I'm going to give some random person my child and trust that they aren't a freak. Its just a dangerous situation all the way around.

I attended Lanier growing up as a child. 20+ years later I have enrolled two, soon to be three of our children into Lanier. This school rocked then, and rocks even more now! The review complaining about the middle school next door requiring a resource officer isn't aware that resource officers are at all of the middle schools in Hillsborough. In my eyes Lanier deserves the highest rating possible!

I absolutely LOVE Lanier Elementary. I have a daughter that has been attending since headstart and is now a fifth grader and she looks forward to coming to school everyday. The office staff is fabulous!! Mrs. Poston and Mrs. Jacobsen are amazing.

Lanier is a great place to work. The children are respectful and willing to learn. The staff is warm and caring and genuine to everyone and they make you feel welcome. The first grade does some incredible and motivating learning activities and keeps the students interested.

I have four children, one just graduated from RHS, both he and my second child attended Lanier K thru 5, they loved it there and I love the teachers and staff. My two younger children , have been there since head start. The teachers there are AWESOME. I feel like its a big family there. Since my children first started to attend lanier we have had 3 principals and they have been the best, but by far Sarah Jacobsen-Capps is the best, she has made the school a much better place, if that was even possible. Great School. Hopefully someday my grandchildren could also attend.

I am the mother of 3. my 2 oldest are now in middle and high school now. Nt only do the teachers and staff know my youngest child but they still konw my 2 oldest children as well as my name. Lanier has the most kind and caring teachers as well as the best princapal mr.schoffer. The whole staff at Lanier puts the children first. I would not have my child in any other elementary school, even if it ment that i had to go out of my way to get him to school every day. We love Lanier, keep up the great work.

I am raising four grandchildren who attend Lanier, all with different abilities and needs. Everyone at Lanier - the principal, teachers, guidance counselor, social worker, psychologist, nurse, and office staff are always available to assist me with any questions, and help me resolve any problem I may have. The children are treated with respect and concern, and the teachers are simply outstanding. Yes, its true that Lanier is in a lower income area, but I don't think you could find a more dedicated and professional staff anywhere in Tampa. My grandchildren are fortunate to be students there.

Lanier Elementary in Tampa I think is a pretty leanient school. They do not lable your child smart nor dumb. All the children are treated as equal. They have the highest rank teachers and grow to know each student by their name. My children went to the school last year 04-05. my oldest child graduated out of Lanier to Monroe Middle. I thought I was doing the right thing as to enrolling my child into a school that is more closer to my house. Big mistake, I'd rather travel out of my way. The school my child goes to now reminds her all the time that she will not make it, Lanier on the other hand does nothing but encourages their students to do their best, and they are so well organized. Keep up the good work.

Very little to no after school activities. No homework club, or extra help for the students. The surrounding neighborhood is low income. The students are not violent, however the middle school that shares the same school grounds requires a county official to remain on the property before during and after school hours.

Lanier Elementary is a great school. I have four children attending this year from Headstart to 4th grade. The teachers there really seem to care and love the students.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, in grades 5 and 8 in science, and in grades 4, 8, and 10 in writing. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

About the tests

Florida uses School Grades to measure the overall performance of a school each year on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Each school is assigned a letter grade (A-F) based on three criteria: the overall performance on the FCAT, the percentage of eligible students who took the test, and whether or not students made progress in reading and math. The School Grades are calculated by adding points earned from each of the performance criteria listed above.
