I Attend Leto as a Sophomore now in 2011 and this school is horrible. The education is horrible and so are the teachers and the assistant principles. The school is unorganized when it comes to Fcat and our final exams. The kids are rude and don't want to learn. The teachers actually make fun of each other, the students, and parents. The teachers also say stuff like "What Do you expect it's Leto" Or They say comments about the many Hispanic races in the school. One of my teachers were talking to an assistant principal about someones mom and how she wears a scarf around her head and how stupid it looks. I Have begged my mom to let me go to a different school to continue my education because the teachers are lazy and don't want to even teach you. I was a straight A student my freshmen year and i didn't go to Leto. I come to Leto and I Get a D which i have NEVER gotten before. In my opinion Leto is the worst school in Hillsborough county.
My son graduated this yr 2011 after transferring to leto for his senior yr. I was suprised it was not as bad as anticipated. My only complaint is there was very little communication to the parents regarding senior deadlines for pictures, grad night, cap and gown ordering etc... I found most of my information out through another parent from another local high school that kept their families informed. I would call the school to inquire and get the run around. But all in all not bad my son enjoyed his senior yr there and completed his high school education!!
I graduated from Leto in 2008. I attend the University of South Florida on a full scholarship. I am double majoring in Psychology and Elementary Education and plan to graduate Spring 2012. I believe that school is what you make it. I had an amazing time during my four years there. I had motivating teachers in the criminal justice, foreign language, and English departments. A long with the counselors, they helped me get to where I am today.
These reviews are a joke. They are clearly written by the teachers themselves becuase there isn't a student there that would agree with most of the "Student Reviews". First the school scored a 3 on statewide testing. As a student I can say with all honesty that the score may be higher than my own experience. Quality teachers are not the norm - they're overwhelmed with large class size, unruly kids - it's all they can do to keep order in the class. There have been teachers who have truly inspired and motivated me (thanks you Mr. Bassett) but for the most part the teachers care about educating about as much as the students care about learning - it's sad. I begged my mom to let me transfer out of Leto and move to ohio and live with my aunt becuase the learning is tough there. And there is a world of difference between Leto and my new school Copley Fairlawn in ohio - I truly feel that when I graduate I will I will be fully prepared for college.
My daughter graduate from Leto in 2006, attended UF on a full scholarship, now is is completing her masters 2009 with UF under a full scholarship. Leto gave her the foundation
LETO has great teachers who are always there to help their students. Although Leto my have a bad reputation, it really isn't as bad as some people protray it to be. Every school has have something bad happen, i've heard from countless students that if you walk in the halls of Leto you could get stabbed. I've been at Leto since freshmen year and i have not been stabbed,my brothers went to Leto High and were are all still alive and unharmed.
I love it at Leto it's a wonderful place to go to highschool.Everyone is so friendly and the teachers are amazing.
My son attends Leto High School, he is an honor student and in the magnet program and doing great. I am very happy with the school, office staff and teachers.
I love Leto. This is my first year here. But what I've noticed is that people seem to think that it is a bad school because of our grade. But the letter grade is just based off of stupid things. It dosen't mean anything. But overrall. I love this school.
The school refuses to comment back also when issues are brought up to them. The teachers need to stop being the kids' friends and start being teachers with ethics.
Leto High is great. It has many programs to prepare kids for life & for college! I am very happy to say that I attend there.
Leto is a good high school with a solid academic program. There are several high quality programs at the school, including a health occupation program and an early childhood education program. There are many well qualified teachers who truly have the students best interest in mind. However, many of the students are a tough group and the learning environment can be a difficult one, where it is no easy task to engage these students. Parent involvement could definitely be better, but is probably about average for a high school in this area. There are numerous extracurricular activities and quite a few clubs that spend time involving themselves in the community.
I attended Leto high school as well as my sister. I was involved in HOSA which I recommend this program to anyone who is looking for a career in the medical field. The instructors were awesome and really cared for their students. We received hands on experience and also volunteered at our local hospitals and nursing homes.
Leto High School has been rated as a 'C' and this appears to be on target. I have had 4 kids there. One is there now. Biggest frustration is little communication with teachers on how well my kids were doing until it was almost too late. My 15 y/o daughter loves the school. Guidence counselors seem to do little in the way of advising. Esp. over Advanced placement classes.
I'm actually not a parent. I'm a student who is currently a senior at Leto High School and I just wanted to set the record straight. Yes, Leto is a D school. But if you noticed, about 55% of Leto students are hispanic. Most of which can't speak english very well. The school's score, from what I understand, come from student's attendance rate and how well they do on the F-CAT tests. We have a very high rate of spanish speaking students, and in my opinion, even if you give a student all day to take a test, which is completley printed in english, does not mean that they are just going to pick up the language right then and there. That's like giving me the test in spanish. Even if I had all day to take it, I still wouldn't pass. So don't judge unless you know the whole story.
Leto is not all that everyone leads it to be, though it's not the most up to date school there is my chld goes there in out of all of her school years she in 10th she has enjoye dthis one the most. Though I do have to admit there every now and then there is a fight. There also is a mixed group of races that attend the school.
