Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

**** 6th grade families****This summers reading assignment of the novel A corner of the Universe .I know our children are exposed to situations that they may not comprehend, without our guidance and explanation. Our words may help them grasp or absorb the meaning of circumstances that are good or bad. I feel parents should read this book with their student due to the content ( adult) of the novel.******* This book is an insightful look into the lives of Hattie, a girl who feels that she is an outsider who tends not to have many friends her own age, and her young Uncle Adam, whose unusual mental difficulties have caused her family to keep his existence a secret from Hattie until the summer that she turns twelve. Hattie learns a lot about being more open and accepting during this summer because of her uncle, and figures out that life is about "changing what's handed to you, about poking around a little, lifting the corners, seeing what's underneath, all sounds fine and dandy Actually there is a lot more to it.

I have an 8th grader and a 6th grader at this school. They have had absolutely the best middle school experience I could have hoped.for. They feel safe and happy, and are excited about going to school every day. The arts program has really helped my kids blossom and develop confidence in themselves and the academic rigor has challenged them consistently. I was worried about middle school and bullying since both my kids are small for their age but instead they have developed friendships and feel included. I recommend the school to everyone.

The bulling in the school is out of control. My daughter was getting bullied and my daughter defended herself. My daughter was suspended and the bully was not punished. The faulty does nothing to stop it. When I told the principal my daughter was not going to attend the following yr due to the bulling, he asked if he could speak with her and nothing happened. They seem to promote bulling instead of stopping it.

I am an 8th grader at Progress Village and I must say, I absolutely love this school. When I first found out about the school I didn't want to go because of where it was located. I thought it would be a school with bad kids and fights, ect. In all honesty, I was completely wrong. I love going to school everyday. This school is like my second home. I met my best friends here and the teachers are amazing too. They care about us students as if we are their own children. Also, the arts part of the school is great. I am in the band program and I feel like part of a big, loving and caring family being in band. Progress Village is definitely a good school.

This is a wonderful school. My daughter has attended this school for sixth and seventh grade and it has been such a positive experience for her. There is a climate of high expectations for both behavior and academics. The teachers are very dedicated. The students are involved in meaningful activities, which leaves little time for misbehavior. My daughter loves all the choices for electives and the academic courses are also very challenging.

This school is an amazing school. My sister used to go to progress village and she loved it. And I'm starting as a 6th grader and I'm Overwhelmed with excitement. I've gotten so much compliment and good thing said about progress village middle magnet school. I will be attending in P.E and Culinary arts in this school and everybody is telling me I will have the best time at this school. In 7th grade I would be glad to join the yearbook/ Journalism Committee for my third elective. People have also told me you make a lot of new friends and they soon to become best friends and they would be from a school you have never heard about. But I would Definitely recommend this school

I highly recommend this school, especially if your child has an interest or talent in music, orchestra, art, theater, sewing, cooking, etc. My son had a wonderful time during his 3 years there (2008 - 2011) - overall the teachers were great and they really work with the kids to bring out the best in them. The principal is wonderful and dedicated, as is the staff. My son blossomed at this school and we rarely heard of any negative incidents or violence. Besides all the emphasis in the Arts, it's also academically an "A" school.

I am a freshman this year and left PV last june to move onto HS and let me say that was one of the saddest days ever! i abbsolutley loved PV. during my 3 years there i learned to be dedicated and passonate about everything i set my mind to, i learned this through my involvment in the amazing theatre program and an amazing organization called FCCLA. i also made many 'families' while i was there. This is a fantastic school, ask any former student, those were the best 3 years of my life :) if you are considering this school for yoursalf or your child, I highly reccomend that you go and visit the school because you too can have an amazing 3 years of middle school

I think Progress Village is a great School. The classes they have for us to express our love to the arts. The art teacher may be a pain but I did become a better artist. The voilence may be very high but that is how us teens act. I thnk the new principal is better than Mr. Shaffner . So overall this is a good school.

this school has my vote! i am a 6th grader here at progress village, and never in my time there has there been a fight. the teachers are great, helping, and encouraging. they motivate students to do their best and try hard. the principal and vice principal are nice and always on task, they do their best to do the announcements every morning, and to be there every day. the rest of the staff are nice too. my teachers try to do their best everyday as well, but with 25 rambunctious tweens, they can be stern, or strict.i came for the costume design and culinary arts class, and i have had so much fun! i reccomend this school for anyone who is looking for a magnet school - even if they're not interested in the arts, this school is just that good!

I volunteered at the year-end Bobcat Bash. I had expected to encounter 'middle school attitude', but instead I was treated with respect & courtesy by the students. I was really impressed. Also, each staff member I came in contact with was friendly & very helpful. My older son chose to attend PVMMSA & my younger son is there now. They both have done well. The bus ride is a little long, but that didn't discourage them from attending this magnet school. As a parent, I have been happy with the attention that my children & I have gotten from the teachers and staff. PVMMSA has been a very positive experience for us.

Both of my children go to Progress Village and I couldn't be happier. The teachers go above and beyond to maximize the students' academic and artistic abilities. The teachers also show support for after school activities by volunteering to work with students in rehearsals and performances that take place after school hours. Progress Village's slogan is 'Where every student is a star', but I would have to say that this is only true because every teacher and administrator there is also a star.

Progress Village Middle Magnet School has been such a positive experience for my daughter. She has excelled not only academically, but her piano playing has progressed by leaps and bounds. She has developed such a love and appreciation for the arts. PV has taught her respect for diversity and acceptance and appreciation for all people regardless of race or social status. I can't say enough about the faculty and staff at PV. They are so nurturing, supportive and encouraging. They truly enjoy working with the students and they make themselves available to them. The principal is very well liked and respected. He treats the students with respect, joins in on activities and is present at every function (and there are MANY at a school for the arts). This school is top notch, most especially for students interested in any form of the arts. My daughter will miss PV very much!

I volunteered at the year end 'Bobcat Bash' & had expected to encounter 'Middle School Attitude'. What I found was a respectful, considerate & friendly student body. Although the students did not know me, they still treated me respectfully & courteously. In fact, everyone at the school was very helpful & friendly, including faculty & staff. My older son attended PVMMSA & my younger son is there now. Both have enjoyed it there, enough to tolerate the long bus rides to & from school, & both have done well. What 1st attracted us to the arts magnet school was that schools in our area are very overcrowded. My boys stayed because they were happy there, & I think that is very important.

On Parent/Teacher night interviews, I have been impressed with the sincere concern the teachers have towards my children. They know my children's strengths, weaknesses and have solutions for in class and at home help. My children enjoyed the extracurricular sports and other activities that are offered as well.

I feel this school need to do something about the staff that greet the parent in the office. They make you feel like you have commit a crime if go in to sign in or out child at school. If try to help out at school like working in the library forget it. They dont need your help. When I go there I feel like I'm visiting prison. They want money from the parent. But,They make very hard for the the parent to help. They need to STOP acting like this is low income school. Remember this a Performing Art School. My kids love the school. They just make it so hard for the parents
