Moving to Florida to attend TC? What a huge mistake- there are far better Catholic schools particularly in the Northern part of the country. Very very political- has been known throughout Tampa as "Tiny Cuba" instead of Tampa Catholic for decades and with good reason. The administration is the WORST! The Principal is a total joke who only listens to parents with big wallets or baseball player sons... In my opinion a school should not be allowed to call itself Catholic if it is ran by lay people.

Our child will be entering TC next year. We toured the school, spoke with faculty and administration, and observed students. We think TC is the best education we can get for our child. We are moving to Tampa from out-of-state for TC

This school's motto should be "The Golden Rule: He Who Has The Gold Makes The Rules"

I went to TC and found the school to be ethnicly polarized and rough on outsiders. There was an elitist attitude that was encouraged by the faculty and the school administration extorts permission from parents to use very intrusive tools to violate student civil rights such as selective, no notice drug tests. The school has had no band program since 1982 and has no desire to create one. Academics are on par with area public schools although public schools have many more resources. As with most private religious schools there is the never ending solicitation for donations but where as most other schools use those funds to the benefit of students, TC's colected donations benefit the Diocese.

I would like to give my feedback after reading others' thoughts. I left after my Junior year and went to a boarding school. I struggled at TC on the academic side b/c I felt we were not pushed, we constantly slowed down for others and had to water down the material. Classrooms are mixed with very slow learners and poor teachers, there are exceptions to the latter. I felt that many of the students were there to socialize. I rarely did homework and found it easy to get by with B's. When I attended, the sports program was stellar and we had many athletes. I played Basketball and two other sports for TC and they were all fulfilling in their own way. **Dubbed "Tiny Cuba" , for TC, because of its Spanish contingent.

My son graduated from TC. He loved every minute of it. He rowed on the Crew team and formed very special friendships that are still strong. He visits his former teachers and helps where he can when he is home from college. The wonderful teachers, along with dual enrollment and AP programs were a great benefit to our son. he carried great grades throughout his 4 years at TC. Parent involvement is also strong which helps to build character in the students. I would recommend TC highly to anyone thinking of going there for high school.

Currently in grade 11, tampa catholic is a fine school. Really no drugs at all, tobacco here and there but no one hustles you. There is just simply no room for it. Especially with random testing. Plenty of great teachers, better then any public school by far. Where you might have 2 or 3 tests a year at freedom, you have one every 2 weeks here. There is plenty of room to improve grades. You pay for an education here, and you receive one. I speak the truth, i know almost everyone in my entire class. I know what kind of kids walk down the halls. There are never any fights fist fights at tc, maybe a push here and there. Everyone knows what will happen.

Tampa Catholic is a good school. If your into academics it's pretty standards but if it's sports you want you may need to look elsewhere. They have lost to Jesuit 8 years a row in football and don't even have a wrestling team.
