This will be my son's last year at the school and that's sad because this has been a great 3 years! My son has soared academically! The teachers at this school are some of the best and the principal is the best we've ever had! The PTSA is the best one around! Get involved with the school from the beginning and you will see for yourself how wonderful this school is! Yes, there is diversity compared to the elementary school but that's the way it is in the real world! Give Davidsen a chance and you will not be disappointed!
Great school, this is my son's second year at this school. He loves it and the teachers have been really great and very caring. Yes, there is diversity at this school, but that is life in the real world. The office staff and principal have been great. This school was rated an A last year. My advise, is no matter what school you choose, get involved, know what is going on at your child's school and ask them questions about what is going on at school. We love it here!!
My daughter is a 7th grade in this school so far its been good. We dont live in the westchase area and really dont care for the area eighter but her teachers are caring and she is learning and haveing fun too. I just would like to see more difersity I belive that our kids make the school not where you live make how you are and i have heard from my daughter that there have been fights but this are girls from the area make trouble as it looks like they have nothing better else to do my daughter was pick on but that matter was resolve very quickly. but like i tell my child if is not with you do not get involved period! But other then that its a good school.
looks like the school staff logged into put 5 stars... no parents sending thier kids to this school seem to be happy... fights ?? Unacceptable. and unclean surroundings ...just unacceptable. no wonder the great schools rating is 6....
Davidsen has interesting dynamics for sure - half upper class kids from Westchase and half not-so-upper-class kids bused in from a few miles away. It'd be great if the school was made up of more Westchase kids and less bussed in kids but Davidsen is not a bad school if your child is in Advanced Honors and involved in things like band. If you want your child in with kids who care and parents who are involved, definitely go for the Honors classes and activities like band. It's sad that it has to be that way. Too bad Davidsen isn't like Westchase Elementary, which is what a neighborhood school should be!
Horrible experience, teachers are very disconnected from their students, Math in particular. We are very excited to be moving out of this area and having our kids start in a different school. I have heard numerous complaints about this school from other parents that pulled their kids, but didn't put to much into it. That was until my wife and kids experienced some of their students assaulting another student and an elderly woman. Authorities were involved and found the kids later that evening. This on top of their lack of academic consistency makes me question why I ever sent my child to this school. We have reached out to the teacher on numerous occasions and were given generic responses. A teachers job is to teach the students, and after hearing from our child and others, I question their intent. For being a Westchase area school you would expect much better. The elementary school was great, but cannot say much for the middle school. Teachers just do not appear to care about the students progress.
This is our first year at Davidsen and so far I have nothings but good news to report! Like most Westchase families we were a bit nervous based on all of the "rumors" that we heard. Fortunately, we had the good sense to ignore these folks (& save $$). Let's face it, middle school is a tough time and you need to feel your child is getting the best possible education in a safe environment. Davidsen has met these expectations. The teachers are committed to the academics, the music & sports are great and more families are giving it a chance. Thus, your child will continue their education with their neighborhood friends. We have a great school in our own backyard & there are plenty of opportunities for parental involvement. My child loves it and I'm glad we are there!
I have a 7th grader and an incoming 6th grader. My 7th grader was accepted to a nearby IB school for this year but turned it down because she loves Davidsen! It's nice to go to a neighborhood school with so many great kids from our elementary school. The classes are challenging, the school has a large NJHS and it is committed to academic excellence! Sports, field trips, uniform, academic recognition and awards, charity involvement it has it all! Most importantly it is safe and run with the structure and order needed for a middle school. I applaud Davidsen and it's faculty! Only regret - I wish the sports teams could accept more students...unfortunately limited.
i went here and liked it but there was this coach with a bald head and orange tan that always smelled like beer or alcohol last year. dude was wasted on a couple times i was in the locker room! slurred speech and everything. what a clown.
I have a 6th and 8th grader at the school. My kids have a had a great academic, athletic, band and social experience thus far. The staff and teachers are excellent. My only wish is that more parents from WestChase would give this school a chance instead of sending their kids immediately to private school. Davidsen has the potential to be one of the best in the area.
i have been in davidsen for 6th grade now going to 7th grade but the school in the inside looks bad they need to clean it up more one of my teachers were horable i cant believe i went through 6th grade with him there is ALOT of drama and sometimes fights and the uniform is pretty good the principle dosent care hes going to change the school by having no teamss! i recommend for all middle schoolers MARTINEZ MIDDLE SCHOOL! martinez is clean safe environment great teaches nice friends good principal and the BEST ovrall! :)
My child is new to the school. She is in 6th grade and wants to fit in with the fashion that girls are wearing today and she would like to make some new friends if she can. The teachers she has this year are ok.The uniform code is not so bad except you have to put a lot of money out for things they need.I think she will do fine as long as she stays out of trouble.
I'm now going into 8th grade at davidsen. It has been a wonderful two years. My 6th grade my math score was a 3, and my math teacher in 7th grade brought it up 2 levels, I now have a 5 on my math fcat and will be doing 9th grade level math this year thanks to my 7th grade teacher. Sure theres drama at davidsen but you just have to work around it. Because I went to davidsen, i will remeber middle school as a great memory when im older. :)
I love this school so much! I transfered there from Farnell in 7th grade. It has great Elective courses, even due to the budget cuts, and all the teachers really care about the students. All I really don't like is the uniform shirts, and how the new principal is planning to change most of the school, by having us possibly go into full uniform with Khaki pants. All that causes is just more parents spending more money on pairs of pants that their kids will grow out of in a year, and will only be wearing at school. Other than that, Davidsen stands up to being an A school. 2009-2010 year is going to be awesome.
I love Davidsen! It's a great school and there are so many nice people there. The teachers care about you and they want to make sure you get a good education. I wsih I would've went there for 6th grade!! The only thing I dont really like about Davidsen is the principal. He is from a bad school and transfered to our school and is planning on changing everything. But all in all I <3 my school!
As a parent I was totally impressed with my daughters 6th grade experience. She had a great lang arts teacher. During 7th grade she developed into a very confident math student. During 8th grade she developed a love of math and history. I wish I could say the same for science and lang arts.
