My kids have been attending New Horizon ES for two years and each year at the end of school it is hard for both the kids and us parents to leave. The teachers are amazing and have open communication with the parents. They have an open and secure campus so I can walk both my children all the way to their classrooms. They have an annual Hoe Down with teachers, parents, and children that was a blast this past year. I would highly recommend New Horizons for its experienced teachers, community enviornment and excellent parent involvement. Can't wait to return in the Fall.
Beautiful school, amazing volunteers, very parent friendly, and each year gets better and better. They offer a great dual language program and are the faculty and staff are committed to helping your child succeed.
My sons have attended this school since PreK back in 2009. Now my oldest son is going to 5th grade and my youngest to 3rd. It's an excellent school! Their dual language program is awesome. The teachers and staff are friendly and always willing to help. I am really thankful and happy for the education that my kids are receiving.
We transferred to New Horizons mid-year and the office staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. My son was so happy to go to school every day. The other parents that I've met have been wonderful and I feel like we are truly part of a community.
This is my neighborhood school, and our family loves it. We have two children. We love the small, welcoming campus, the teachers, the strong academics and the parents group. Everyone from Cardozo (the principal), teachers and staff, are passionate about children and education. I compared many schools before deciding on New Horizons, and am so glad I did. There is no substitute for 25 years experience when it comes to children's education.
I am new to the area moving from out of state. I placed my daughter at this school and have been thrilled with the education she is receiving. The teachers work hard and care for their students. It is evident daily in my daughters classroom. I know EVERY school has it's ups and downs and New Horizons is no different. As parents, we need to work together to make this school the best school for our children. We need to work alongside the staff and administration.
My son just started at New Horizons and the staff made us all feel welcomed. The school has a home town feel and is very Family friendly.
My family has been with New Horizons since 2007. My oldest transferred mid year & we all were treated with open arms. I find the teachers & staff to be nurturing, willing to help if a situation presented itself and the open door policy is just amazing to me. At my son's last school, you were not allowed to walk them past the cafeteria, so it means a lot to kiss my child goodbye & be able to talk with his teacher if necessary. I volunteer here quite a bit because I feel like family. I would strongly recommend this school o anyone new to te area!
I just had my child transferred out of this school. After years and years of working with the teachers and higher ups my son did not excel at all. All my concerns were meet with the same end results...wait for the FCAT scores. Well FCAT scores proved what I have been asking for since preK. I realized it was their intent to blame my son for not passing the FCAT as to why he will be retained in the 3rd grade, they accept no responsibility for a childs failure and the school board should evaluate this school and do an employee change. The principle is weak and has no concern for any childs individual needs...she should be ashamed.
My son has just completed kindergarten at New Horizons Elementary and had a great year. I love the neighborhood feel of this school, its warm and loving, everyone from administration and school nurse to the teachers. As a Wellington resident and caucasian, English speaking mom, I heard a lot of negative talk about the diversity of this school and that it has gone "downhill". I can only say I have had a great experience. My son is in the dual language program, which I hope will be advantageous for him in life. I have seen tons of volunteer and parent involvement, which to me, is a huge indicator of the success of children. We live in a melting pot, diverse state in FL, so if you are concerned about diversity, this school isn't for you. My emphasis has been on the best fit for my son, and its been a great year. Its a smaller school, and for elementary, I really like that we can go in and visit, walk the child to class, etc. We evaluated every option in the area, private and public, and found NH to be an excellent fit for our family.
This school has proven to be a huge disapointment. The Principal is not involved and does not even acknowledge parents or students. I will NOT send my children back to this school. There is no communication with parents and the office staff is rude. The school is dirty and classrooms are unorganized. I volunteered many hours to make sure that my child was safe and able to learn in such a disfunctional environment. I watched fifth graders drag the american flag across to the pole and then hang it upside down with no supervision. Then crumple it up under their arms when taking it down. Very disapointing and when brought to the attention of the principal nothing was done. Do not send your kids to this school!
My daughter's teach Ms. Albert is a saint and I LOVE the after care director and my daughter loves her counselor. I would discourage anyone who wants the best for their child to pass this school however. The main office staff are rude and miserable to me and the students. The parent involvement is almost non existent and my daughter tells me she can't even go on with her class because the children are so unruly. My daughter's IQ score is average even though she is doing 2nd grade work? I just don't understand and am not happy with this school.
Worst school ever!!! There is NO communication between teachers and parents, unless of course they are collecting money. They are not even teaching the 4th graders Science and Social Studies because the FCAT math scores are so low. So they are omitting core classes. There was not any communication to let parents know what is going on. The principal does not care as she will be retiring soon. She talks over you and never lets you finish a statement. The administration has NO idea what teachers are/are not doing and vice versa. I would NEVER recommend this school to anyone! I would actually give NO stars, but this made me choose one.
This school is a wonderful school, the teachers are very kind, loving and caring. My children are getting a wonderful education in a small school environment where many teachers know my children on a first name basis. They look forward to school each day which is practically unheard off. Also my children are in the dual language program the English and Spanish. what an incredible opportunity given to them.
This school is wonderful. This is our first full year. The teachers are well educated and what I have noticed is the hands on approach to bullying. A problem is identified and fixed. Period. I do not however, see alot of parent helpers. That is very sad and the children and the school need parent involvement in order to be the best teaching tool. If more parents were involved, this school would be higher ranked
I have to say, so far I love this school. Very small, neighborhood feel. They know everyone on a first name basis. You are allowed to walk your child to class as often as you want, have lunch with them any day you want, and they are thrilled to have parental involvement and classroom volunteers. To me this says that they are confident in their teachers and the overall environment, and have nothing to hide. The schools that shut you out have to make you wonder.... New Horizons is one of Wellington's best kept secrets, and I am so glad I didn't succomb to the Binks Forest pressure of paying a psychologist to say that your child is gifted, just so they can go to an overcrowded school that stops the parents at the front door. Kudos to New Horizons- keep up the good work!
I have always been very happy with the teachers. They are wonderful !! I have one child that went K-5th now a middle schooler, my middle child also is a fifth grader there and my youngest will start Kindergarten next year.
My son went to New Horizons from 2nd grage to graduating at 5th..The Teachers are great as well as the staff..My son does not like to read and they made it easy and fun for him and that is what got him through.I can only hope that Middle School will have the same kind of patience and understanding with him to achieve his goals....id like to see more parent involvement in this School. My Daughter will be attending in 2 more years..
