Teachers are very communicative. Excellent gifted and after-care programs. I feel like all of the staff know my daughter by name. They take the time to get to know their students. My daughter is in 1st grade and has learned so much while she's been there. She's reading on a third grade reading level and has grown to love math whereas before coming to Palmetto, I couldn't get her to sit down and study at all. Great school. Great staff.

Some teachers are better than others. While most of them want to provide more to the kids in their classes, their hands are tied. That's a district issue as much as it is a particular school issue...

Principle doesn't foster a fun atmosphere and she's generally absent from the east campus (k-2), focusing her time and efforts mainly on the 3-5 students (you know, that ones whose test scores are recorded and used to determine her performance). Kids aren't encouraged to excel, but to keep pace with the tests. While other elementary schools make an effort to keep the kids engaged by having fun Friday or themes (pajama day, dress as your favorite book character, etc.), Mrs. Harris refuses to acknowledge these are kids and kids need release - through play, fun or other creative options. I'm trying every angle to get my kids out of this school. Sadly, many of the teachers I've spoken with have the same goal...

Very good school, indeed. The only problem is the Principal decided to not have Summer Camp this year, which created a major problem for most of the parents counting on it.

Excellent teachers and guidance counselors. Proactive with students' needs and possible areas of difficulty. Great aftercare and summer programs.

Palmetto is a great school with lots of loving people. There is always something going on each month either with the school or aftercare. They have tutoring 4 days a week, and try to provide as much help as possible.
