Now the truth about SJS. Our principal is new to the school and is doing a wonderful job. Not only was she an elementary school teacher, but also a high school teacher for many years before entering administration. She was a beloved Dean of Students at our local Catholic High School before coming to SJS. The school is a kind, caring, family community in which we all watch out for each others children. The teachers are wonderful and our students are well prepared for high school. Our students are accepted at Cardinal Newman, American Heritage(some on academic scholarship), Suncoast, Benjamin, Pope, and in many of the local magnet programs. Currently, the school doesn't have an AP and according to Fla. standards based on population is not required to, the same as many of the other Catholic elementary schools in the area. My children have never been bullied at school and feel happy, safe, and loved everyday when they get to school. We could choose to send our children to any school in the area and we choose St. Juliana Catholic School and have for many years.
This school is on Olive (WPB). As of 2013-2014 there was a change in administration. Currently SJS's principal that has never been a teacher and has no experience with elementary school plus no kids of her own to understand parents better. School has no assistant principal and in my experience, my children had a "below average education". Bullying is a big issue in the school and they don't seem to care! This school is chaotic and after 3 years I decided to pull my kids from there and move them to a more serious school where the kids are the priority not the politics of the administration. It's a shame!
St. Juliana is a catholic based highly academic environment. The teachers, parent's and principal, along with the pastor and not only a community, they are a family! Love, love, love our experience at this school. My son has been at St. Juliana since pre-k and graduates this year 2014 from 8th grade. I recommend this school highly. We have had experience with many other private schools in Palm Beach County with our other children, This school has been our best experience...
The school is improving the middle school curriculum, they are going to offer for 2011-2012 year. Pre- Algebra in 6 grade, Algebra I Honors in 7 grade and Geometry Honors in 8 grade. This is a great challenge for the school.
I have entrusted my children to the school since Pre k. They have had a quality education in a Christ centered environment. I am proud of the young men they are turning out to be spiritually and academically. One of my boys even took the Duke University Talent Search, as he scored in the 99% in SS thanks to the qualified teachers at St Juliana School.
Very dissatisfied with the school. We withdrew our son after 4th grade and thank goodness we did because when he entered public school they tested him and he was barely reading at a second grade level. Of course he was on the honor roll at st julianas so we had no idea the situation was so bad. Teachers kept telling us he was "right on track". As for moral development... How would you like to find out the teacher entrusted to care for and guide your 3 year old has an ARREST record. I was shocked as well. Thank God for public school. Our older son got the extra resources he needed and now our kindergardener is thriving and not being shamed on a daily basis.
Saint Juliana is a great overall school teaching great fundamentals and a faith based education! I have read some of the reviews and my comments are that everyone has a choice and an opinion. My kids have been very happy and are thriving!!!Come and take a tour! It is a great school to get involved in! Go Shamrocks!!!!
My 2 Children went to this school for 6 years. I wanted them to get a spiritual backbone as well as a good education. They were good to me and my family. The parents and teachers were a little judgmental, especailly if you were struggling or werent able to volunteer at the school as much as the non-working moms did. All of the volunteer moms kids got the best parts in mass, in plays, were teachers pets and on and on,I resented this because I was a working mom and my kids are awesome and deserved great things too. When we put them in public school their self esteem grew considerably. They are both on honor roll, teachers are constantley prasing them for how awesome they really are seeing there confidance and love for education grow made me feel good that we made the right choice.
The tone for the school starts at the top, and the principal of this school strives for excellence at all times. The faculty and teachers reflect that striving for excellence approach, and you sure can't argue with the results! Testing results in the top ten percent of the country, a high percentage of students in the National Junior Honor Society, and a lot of smart happy kids! This is an excellent school. My kids began with kindergarten, and they'll finish middle school here, happily and ready for high school.
This school has lost lots of students over the last three years. Every year there are lots of new faces teaching our children. The moral at the school is very low.
The class sizes are too high for a private school, especially the kindergarten and lower grades. School can improve communication with parents and overall organization of information.
Great school...wonderful faculty. My daughter is staring kindergarten and my second daughter Pre-k3. We are very pleased with the school overall. Highly recommend!
The best gift that we can left to our children is the education, and SantJuliana give an excellent oportunity to grow academically and morally. The comunication between parents and teachers are excellent, the edline helps to make this comunication bigger. The economic problems is taking some good programs off like sunshine Math, Technology class and I hope this things go back to the school. and the school needs to go deeply in the foreign languages to get grammar knowledge not only tha basic staff, they had intensified P.E., and tht was great, there are a lot ot good things in this school.
After many years of watching the school deteriorate, we could no longer support the newest inept principal and out of touch admnistration in general. No leadership, no accountability, No professionalism or discretion.
I went here for only 5 years but I disliked this school very much. The kids were very judgemental and they hurt a lot of peoples' feelings. They teach 'religion' class, but it's just a workbook. They barely talk about God. Leaving the school, I thought I had many friends, but I later found out that all of them hated me. The teachers were usually rude or mean, a few were sweet. I'm much happier at my current school than here.
St Juliana is a growing, thriving community of caring teachers, involved parents limited only by their own initiative and willingness to join with others working with a positive attitude toward meaninful objectives, and students who are challenged and respond with enthusiasm. The school has faced some difficult times in the past few years, and overcome each with courage and faith, keeping the spritual and educational needs of our students at the forefront. The leadership, persistence, trust in God, and support of the St Juliana family have paid off. The school has posted academic achievement as measured by ITBS standarized tests that are well above average, including 8th grade results in the top 10% nationally. A broader and enriched curriculum is in place, contributing to the academic results and offering more opportunities to our students. There is a wide choice of extra-curricular activities to build appreciation of the arts, sportsmanship, leadership, and other social skills. Despite the hard times and a few vocal nay-sayers, St Juliana is growing and achieving excellent results. I m glad to be part of the family. St Juliana Sham rocks!
When your children are enrolled at St. Juliana School, they are part of a family. The administration and teachers genuinely love and care about the children and want to see them succeed. The children at the school are happy and they are learning. The eighth grade just scored in the top 10% in the nation in their ITBS standardized testing in all subject areas. That says something about the teachers and students at the school. They are doing a great job!
Looks good on paper, but when you dig deeper, there is not much substance.
At this time parents are not happy with the administration at the school. Parent communication is lacking. Decisions about academics are being made without parent input. Things need to change for this year.
I had hoped that my grandchildren would have the same wonderful experience that I had when attending a catholic elementary school. That wonderful love, love of church and pride in your friends and school. It has happened at St. Juliana's. thank you....
