I could not be happier with this school! We have the best teachers and staff. The principal and assistant principals have an "open door" policy that makes you as a parent feel welcome and included in your child's education. I love this school!
This is my daughter's third year at Tequesta and I must say that it provides a quality education and the staff strives to motivate students to excel, bullying is not an issue here and not overcrowded.
GREAT SCHOOL, NOT OVERCROWDED LIKE OTHERS. THEY TAKE CARE OF BULLING IN CASE THERE IS EVER AN ISSUE, THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF IT RIGHT AWAY. KIDS ARE MORE DOWN TO EARTH COMPARED TO OTHE WESTON SCHOOLS. IF YOUR CHILD IS FALLING BEHIND, THE TEACHERS WILL HELP HIM/HER PICK UP THEIR SCORES BY GIVING EXTRA WORK/ASSIGNMENTS FOR CREDITS, SOME WILL EVEN TEACH WHAT WAS NOT UNDERSTOOD IN CLASS WHEN THE HOUR IS OVER. BUT WHAT I LIKE THE MOST IS THAT KIDS GET TUTORING IN CASE THEY HAVE A HARD TIME WITH A SUBJECT, SPECIALLY IN MATH. 5 STARS OVERALL, A+ SCHOOL FOR MANY YEARS, REALLY HAPPY.
Critiquing a school based on individual student and parent experiences does not truly give a picture of the school. Suffice to say if your student gets the grades you want, it's a great school. If not, depending upon the success level of your child, it is not. Teachers are working with their hands tied (budget cuts affecting class size and materials, state mandates which take up important classroom instruction time, no raises in five years, continuing entitlements), and are doing so more and more. Untie their hands and watch instruction soar. Tequesta Trace is just one of many schools where teachers are disrespected and are made accountable for student responsibilities. It is not possible to enhance and motivate when a student or parent is not doing what they are supposed to do and continues to place the blame on the school and the teacher. Just sayin.'
Extremely disappointed! I honestly don't understand how and why this school has a 9 rating and 4 stars. Our son got robbed 3 times and only got 1 item recovered. The teacher in charge when the last episode happened told him "that's life" and offered him no help whatsoever. There are very few clubs, kids aren't motivated enough and we've never had a phone conference with any of his teachers, let alone a face-to-face one. I have not seen the first reading assignment (novels, essays, classics, theatre, poetry...), I guess they don't consider it a priority and don't mind kids being illiterate and uncultured. Uniforms and dress code are not enforced and at the beginning of the year, at the only meeting we've been invited, every idea and initiative brought up by parents was rejected (they had an excuse to decline every single one). There hasn't been a field day or carnival or any sort of extracurricular, family oriented activity, so you can get a pretty clear picture of what they think of parent involvement. Unless all other Middle Schools around you are much worse, my advice, don't send your child there.
My son has ADHD but is very bright. This school has not followed through with any of the accommodations on his 504 plan and we are constantly having problems with them. There is no guidance or tolerance for any kid that does not fit in their mold of a child. I feel that his creativity has been stifled and as many teachers have clearly stated, he has not been working at his full potential. This is a kid who got a 98 on his FCAT and has been flirting with failing this whole year. It is now the end of the 4th quarter and I am still fighting to get his accommodations met. As long as your kid is smart and perfectly behaved and never steps outside the box, this is an excellent school.
Excellent attention to Florida cirriculum and individual student needs. Plus special FCAT camp for FCAT preparation and lots of out of classroom activities to make learning fun.
I have been at Tequesta Trace from 7th grade to 8th grade, and the school is great! Amazing teachers, different personalities, but very nice teachers. You can connect with the teachers. Some could be mean, but that happens everywhere else. I felt safe there and the sports are great. There are different levels of classes, and most of the teachers make you feel like you can succeed, even if you are a trouble-maker. They are pushing you to do your best. Oh, I just hope Western High has teachers like Tequesta. Such a great school. It is clean and friendly...continuing...
We arrived in Weston in 2008. After years of private schools in different countries, we were surprised for the quality of this public school. If you kid is committed, definitively they need to attend honors class. Safe, clean, secure, and some exceedingly good teachers and others average, just like in life. Authorities are consistently very good. Food, instead, is perfect for creating the next generation of overweight kids...fast food everywhere and the 'light' foods are nothing kids want to take everyday. A lot of focus as parents is required on this. Small # of students (858) helps keep a good environment. Multicultural environment.
Awesome school, but some of the teachers don't believe that some students will achieve. Its a safe environment and every clean. A place were you can learn a lot if you listen.
We moved here in the summer of 07. My two oldest children are students at TTMS. I have one child in the ESE program and my other child is in AP classes. Both my girls love this experience. I would like to see more opportunities for parent/teacher/principal interaction. Mr. Jimmy who greets all who enter TTMS is a warm and caring man. He helps to make this school stand out from other schools in the area.
I went to Tequesta last year and it was amazing. The kids are so nice and welcoming. Being an eight grader at a new school was hard but the teachers helped me catch on to how the school works and so did the students. The teachers like so make the classes as fun as possible so your still learning but having fun doing it. My brother and sister go there now and they absolutely love it.
This school is terrible. A lot of the kids are rude and most have little or no respect for the teachers. There are many bullies and many fights. There isn't much parent/teacher relationship either. Not recommended.
Tequesta trace middle school has been a Blessing more then words can say, My child with Autism has a wonderful teacher who really cares for him. And My oldest son knows the staff member and gets along with all of them. it all depends on the students because this school teachers do care.
Extremely disappointed....the registration was a nightmare...poor communication between school and parents. My child is in 8th and we are new to Weston, coming from the midwest. I realize there are a lot of transfer students but they could at least try to pair the kids up with other students, etc. to introduce them into the school. The only reason we picked Weston was because of the school's rating and no way would I give it a 10. We moved in July and didn't get to see the school in session. My advise is to visit the school if at all possible and make your own decision.
Tequesta Trace Middle school is such an excellent school! My kids learned so much from the excellent staff. Although sometimes they are to hard on the kids, they are always trying to get the school to be even better then it was the year before! The only thing that I would change about this school is the lack of obedience in some of the regular classes. Some of the kids, who don't care about studying, interfere with the education of the other kids, that do want to learn!
Very dissapointed about this school. My son (4th of my children to go attend this school) has ADD and was never given any real help. Only told 'he should be responsible for his work'. When are the teachers ever responsible? I am a teacher myself and pride myself in getting my students through their work!
They get very little by way information sheets as to what is happening within the school, this we feel is vital to the interaction and interest of the students. Also some of the teachers are unapproachable when it comes to not understanding whilst in class, and always seem to be threatened with detention. The parents are never informed of anything, apart from how well they are doing with the FCATs and their straight A's..Parent involvement is via the PTA, although I am a member there min.news.
Tequesta Trace is a great school. If I could change anything about it I would allow the parents to be more involved. I have heard of schools that use edline where the students grades of tests and homework is always available online so the parent can access it. At Tequesta, parents are not kept informed of test grades, homework due, or anything else the students do not volunteer to their parents. I never get a test home. Never. This school is great for students who need very little supervision and are self motivated. The academics are outstanding. I cannot comment on music or art because we aren't involved.
The teachers really care, but the school itself is too lax on the students.
