I have had 2 children attend Crenshaw School, one for 5 yrs and the other for 6 yrs. Both loved going there. Due to financial hardship my daughter entered Olympic High School as a freshman with 4 high school credits. Even though taking all honor courses including geometry and chemistry she rec'd straight A at Olympia in addition to starting on the JV volleyball team, the JV basketball and making the varsity water polo team. At this time as a sophomore she is ranked #1 in unweighted grades in her class of 856 students and 55 in weighted scores. I credit this to the background and learning skills she rec'd at Crenshaw. My son followed her path this year except he rec'd one B and that was in Fresh orientation, teacher did not like it because he did so well coming from a private school. He would spend most of the time helping other students that were having trouble with other classes so he would get low marks for attentiveness. I, as a parent and even though I hate to admit it, my children are not super brilliant. They are smart kids who have had an exceptional background in attending Crenshaw. I would also like to note that Orange Co had my son pegged for special ed.
It's an outstanding mix of demanding standards with flexible approach to meeting those standards. My 7th grader is taking 10th grade math - but the public schools would have her in 6th grade because of late-in-the-year birthday.
Crenshaw school is a customizable school - it is adaptable for your special, unique needs. Our oldest son finished out his sophomore year after a medical issue required him to return home from boarding school. Crenshaw worked with us and designed a program that allowed him to complete that year at his own pace with individual teacher/mentors in a homeschool/hybrid arrangement. After spending junior year at a local private school, he decided to return to Crenshaw and graduate with the friends he'd met there surrounded by the faculty and administration that were supportive and encouraging during his difficult time. This year he'll be graduating from University of Florida with a double major and plans to go on to graduate or law school. Thank you Brenda Crenshaw, staff and students for making a positive difference in his life and ours! We love this school and highly recommend it.
I've been at Crenshaw for 8 years, and as a student, I can proudly say that I love it. The environment is amazing. No bullies, no 'streetfights,' and I learn so much! At any other school, I would be a grade or two behind, but with Crenshaw, my needs have been tended to and I'm allowed to reach my full potential. Why? Because at Crenshaw, they let me float. And guess what? No silly cliques. Everyone at Crenshaw is friends with each other. I will always know Crenshaw as my second home. Even if my opinion as a student doesn't count, I recommend the school to anyone and everyone!
My daughter is in 3rd grade and has been at Crenshaw since Kindergarden. She loves going to school everyday and floats to 4 th grade for maths. The teachers are kind, caring and focused. We have great SAt scores and I know my daughter is way above kids at other private schools in the area. We have friends the same age at Lake Highland and Windermere Prep and the work my daughters class in doing is way above what they are doing there. We are very happy and so are the other parents and kids that we know.
We love the school our kids are happy and the teachers are great. The school is like a family and makes sure all the kids are doing well. Our SAT scores are some of the best and our kids have the ability to float to higher grades if they are particulaly good at something. Its a great school and a great education and even better all the kids are happy.
I have two children attending Crenshaw. I have found the teachers excellent and feel that they have a sincere desire to make my children successful. My children would be heartbroken if they did not attend Crenshaw. There life would not be complete. I have never in the 3 years that they have attended Crenshaw ever say that they did not feel like going.
My children have been here for 4 years now and have done an outstanding job. The SATs only confirm that for me even more. The school encountered financial issues due to the economy but with the great support of the parents, it is turning around. All students take SATs every year and it validates their strong academics. Come see for yourself.
I was highly disappointed with Crenshaw and removed my children from this school. For two years, I was kidding myself that they were in good hands, being a private and independent school with a close-knit curriculum. To my horror, upon enlisting them with a private tutor, my children were two years behind the national academic average set by the state of Florida. This is a fluffy school where your child will not be enriched and I have since moved them to Lake Highland. The difference is phenomenol. I have had 2 years experience with is this school and it is nothing but sheer business.
I have three children enrolled at the Crenshaw School. Each year I think they can't possibly have a better teacher than they did this year and each year just gets better and better! My children love going to school and I think that's the best compliment of all. Great school and great staff!
Crenshaw makes a difference. Just like Cheers...it's a place where 'everyone knows your name'! There is a reason why the school founder and owner Brenda Crenshaw still talks to her famous students/alumnai such as Justin Timberlake, Mandy Moore and Lance Bass. Lance is even on the school's advisory board. Oh and the reason, because each student gets personalized attention. Every teacher knows every student through out the school. The kids moral and emotional well-being is monitored along with strong academics. I tried the big, famcy school with all the glitz but the education and personalized attention just wasn't there. The fancy schools give you attention when they want you to sign a HUGE LEGAL CONTRACT which is all in their favor but after enrollment, just not there. Crenshaw produces students who are achievers! Just check their scores!
My daughter is just finishing up her 3rd grade year at the Crenshaw school. The school has such a great music and dance program. If your child is a born performer, this school can take care of your needs!! Excellent teachers. Thank you to The Crenshaw teachers!! They are the best.
Both of my children love going to this school. The academics are great and the school makes learning fun!
My chld is in Pre-K at The Crenshaw School and has had a fantastic year. He is learning and is excelling...and loves his teachers! The environment is fun and challenging for him. He enjoys learning and looks forward to going to school every day.
We love this school! My daughter has been here for 2 years and loves every moment. The teachers are fantastic- enthusiastic and kind. Our class are all way above average and most are doing work a grade above where they should be. I am a parent and I love being part of Crenshaw. Brenda Crenshaw is a wonderful leader and with her family (they all help at the school) are all about caring for the kids and making sure everyone is happy I have nothing but good things to say about this wonderful school, teachers and other families we have met that are part of Crenshaw
Great staff, great teachers, excellent curriculum! My children look forward to going to school.
We love The Crenshaw School! I absolutely fell in love with all the kind teachers at this school. The music program for elementary school is beyond my expectations. Small class size fits my daughter very much. She enjoys going to school everyday.
This school is great! Every school has their share of unsatisfied parents, it's normal. But the education and concern each of the Crenshaw staff has showed is very commendable. My kids and I look forward to another school year with this school!
As a parent, security for my children and academic excellence is important when looking for a school. The Crenshaw School is an example of this. The low teacher/student ratio has given my kids a chance to concentrate on school work and be given full attention when developing their skills. The teachers are very concerned with the children's academic and personal growth. The staff is great! This is an excellent school! It shows as to the fast growth of the school itself. Great job!
We strongly believe in the school's academic strength. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I have my children attending the school and I am very satisfied with how they promote the importance of academics, discipline, and camaraderie. Our children will be successful in life by not only what they learn in school but how we reinforce moral values and the importance of education from our own home. Great staff, great parent support, great teachers, and we are very proud of the students.
