You will not find a more loving, caring or educational environment for your child anywhere. The administration and teachers GET IT! They teach and care for their students at such a high level. This school is AMAZING!
This school is incredible. It is a loving, nurturing environment for kids to grow and flourish. When you tour you will think it is too good to be true. Its not, its just the way PHA operates as the best learning environment in Orlando! They are incredible!
The Parke House is an amazing place for children. Although the curriculum is advanced, the teachers work with individual children in a loving way! When my son entered 2nd grade, coming from another school, he was behind in reading. I was so impressed with all his teachers who worked with him to build his confidence and improve his skills! Top notch place for a great education and as a parent I also feel welcome.
As a parent to a current student at Parke House I have to side with the parent who gave it TWO-STARS for the Kindergarten level of the school. The faculty at this level, particularly the teacher that this parent referred to, is subpar. There is a noticeable level of fakeness that goes with their character. It is transparent and unfortunate. I am fortunate that my child is past this grade and doing exceptional where they are now. In fact, the faculty from 1st grade and up are very caring and qualified. They are great at what they do. I am content and blessed not having to deal with the obvious inadequacies of Kindergarten. It is a true misfortune for those parents that have to deal with where Parke House obviously lacks. Just because you re qualified for a job doesn t mean you re good at it.
As a parent of two children at Parke House, I have been more than pleased with the overall academic environment at the school. The children are challenged while also being nurtured. The teachers are always available and willing to answer questions about teaching methodology and curriculum. There has never been teaching to any test (in Lower or Upper Division - unlike the FCAT in the public school system) and foundational skills are emphasized. The kindergarten team, the Lower Division teachers, as well as all the teachers, staff, and administration at Parke House Academy make the academic, social, and emotional growth and development of each child a priority. I feel extremely fortunate to have found such a warm, nurturing, and academically sound school for my children.
As a parent of a Kindergarten child also, reading the last response came as a surprise. I understand there are diverse learning styles and levels in every class. The Kindergarten team in particular and Parke House as a whole, has been more than accommodating and sensitive to the individual needs of each student. I've been a parent at this school for three years now and my child has blossomed under the guidance and love of phenomenal teachers!
There is a kindergarten teacher who is currently teaching who s style of instruction while perhaps effective, is extremely draconian. The focus is to move the class as a whole in measured progress. Admirable, but at what cost? It is not at all conducive to the individual progress of the more advanced of students. And this has been my problem ALL year long. Those individual children who have demonstrated the capability to exceed the status quo are stifled and being discouraged from working ahead of their peers, in order to keep the child within the limits of the class tempo. The operative word in my statement is Limits . It is a shame that a school with so much potential has teachers who qualities are subpar.
I just came across the review below and had to respond. I have no idea how anybody who had attended preschool and preK at Parke House could get the impression that they "teach to a test", or that the teachers and staff at the lower division are "below average". The school is a wonderful facility, with excellent teachers, and the material they cover is a great foundation. The school does move at a faster pace than many, but certainly does not gloss over any core skills. I would like to see a little more parent involvement (the same parents do everything), but overall I could not be happier with the education my children have received, nor with the loving environment they have been in.
I am now realizing, in hindsight, that my two years at Parke House Academy were not worth the money I spent. This school puts too much emphasis on teaching to a test, and not enough time on details, comprehension and fundamentals. While my child tested well and was reading at the end of Pre-K, I am learning a few years later that they glossed over and moved on too fast from core skills and information that my child needs now in the later years. Will do Pre-K at a different place next time around. Facilities are top notch. Teachers and staff are below average. Management is not as professional as they should be. Below average location.
Hands down, the best private school in Central Florida! My children tested 2 grade levels higher than their peers that attend other schools. PHA has a great caring team in place. The teachers, staff and administration are very professional, and very loving with my children. It is a warm, safe environment that my children thrive in. We Are... Parke House!
