Welcome to Naperville. Naperville has 2 school districts ( 203 and 204)---both are excellent. If you compare their rating, you will find that they are one of the best in the nation. You will also find more comments from parents who are pleased with the either school districts than those who are not.
I moved here about 11 years ago and I will give you the same advice that a stranger gave me and I believe it still holds true. She said that District 204 is newer, has more modern school buildings, is generally in communities of newer built and larger homes. Cons: Regarding home resell, you may or not get your money back. There's too many new construction, hence, lots of competition. This district has more teachers who are younger and inexperience, district is going through growing pains. They are striving to have the solid reputation that district 203 has.
District 203 has older buildings, more experience teachers, proven track record, home are older and generally smaller but will hold or exceed their value. It is harder to find a home in this district...not the same amount in inventory. District just spent millions on expanding Naperville Central and other school buildings.
I chose District 203, it was hard to find a home to my likings and in my price range but it was (for me) the best choice. For example, I'm listing my 4 bdrms/3 bath home for sale this month. Instead of losing value, I'm hoping to realize a gain of over 45%. My son will be graduation from Georgetown Law this May...we are very pleased.
In either case, Naperville's public schools offers what most people look for in private schools.
If you have other questions, just let me know and I will be happy to share my experience.76441
Thank you very much for responding, the schools are one of the major reasons we are interested in Naperville. Tell me a little more about Naperville the community and schools are there any schools that you favor more. My kids are really into science and love things like robotics etc.
Reading about schools and neighborhoods are one thing but getting to talk to someone is completely different. Are there any neighborhoods that you recommend.
If you have an Ivy League bound type of student (either gifted or high performing) you will love the schools. If you have an average student, you may have some difficulties. If you have a special needs student, it is a mixed bag. Better at preschool level and grade school, but AWFUL at the Jr. High and High School level for that population. We've been in 204 with children for 14 years. It isn't what it was when we first moved here.78728
