My son goes to Pickett's Mill and my family and I have been very impressed with the academic progress he has made. We give kudos to the school for their programs including the First in Maths and Reading Eggs. His teacher is a real gem. Moving here from another Cobb County School, I can see the difference.

Yesterday this school was informed of several negative comments posted here. Several people were then told to post favorable reviews in order to raise the schools image. I'm sure it's easy to realize that then three happy comments were posted. This is just highlighting all of the problems that do exist in this school. Very disappointing.

I simply cannot say enough good things about this school. Excellence starts at the top, and runs throughout Picketts Mill Elementary, affectionately called 'The Mill" . The principal stands in the hall to personally smile and welcome each student to school every day. She and the assistant principal have worked as a team from day one (which was well before the school actually opened) to create a positive atmosphere for the staff, students, and parents. I can honestly say that as a certified teacher, I have been in several different schools as both parent and educator. None have ever topped this one. My two oldest children attended here, and I was consistently impressed by the quality education they received as well as the love they got from not only teachers, but every adult in the building! The custodial staff keeps this building SPOTLESS and always delight in "high fiving" the kids. The office staff is always friendly and kind. Staff development and teacher education is phenomenal. I cried when my oldest went to middle school, and will be thrilled when my baby becomes a Picketts Mill Pirate. I couldn't ask for a better early school experience.

Wow! This is such a wonderfully positive environment. I love the "no bully" policy- not that I ever had a problem with bullying and my kids, but I think prevention is key. They actually took steps not only to educate children on why it is important to respect one another, but also implemented a plan called "7 Habits of Highly Effective Schools. This helped give my child with ADHD practical strategies for responsibility and accountability. Test scores are high, and the music and art programs are wonderful. I found the administration always to be caring and willing to listen and help with all concerns. It was a very fruitful experience for my daughter. Altogether wonderful!

My son had the best first grade experience I could ever want. His teacher is sweet, loving, caring, supportive, and academically astounding! This school is in a great area with many other wonderful Cobb schools, however, Picketts Mill is still a head above the rest. I love the principal and assistant principal. My son enjoys practicing his writing by writing them sweet notes that somehow always end up on the outside of their office doors. They are so encouraging, and really focus on building up the children. This is a special place, and you can really tell by looking at the little things. The building is extremely clean, smiling faces greet me in the office, and the staff seems very happy. When I join my son for lunch, even the cafeteria ladies are welcoming and sweet. I love this school!

My children have attended Pickett's Mill since it opened four years ago and we have been very disapointed. The principal and assistant principal are both very unproffessional, parental concerns are blown off, and they retaliate against anyone who does have a problem. We stayed in Cobb for the schools, but we would love to get away from this one!

I was a student at Pickett's Mill the first 2 years it was opened. It was a beautiful school, but had many flaws. Many teachers WOULD NOT help students. My 5th grade teacher even rolled her eyes at me when I asked for help! The "Seven Habits" are more important to them that academics and safety. I was bullied, pushed into walls and desks and I talked to the principal. She did not do a thing about it! It still went on, and I was honestly dreading school. I was very happy to graduate, and I will NEVER go back to that school (or if I live here and have kids send them to that school)

Staff at school promotes personal responsibility in a loving and caring way. Test scores of younger grades are ahead of surrounding schools. A great new school in a well designed new building. Lots of parental involvement.
