We just had curriculum night and all the teachers were well prepared and excited. We are looking forward to another great year at Webb Bridge!
Teachers are dedicated professionals. Front office staff is well organized, knowledgeable but a bit stiff. The principal is new and lacks the leadership of her predecessor. Cafeteria lacks salad bar and healthier options. Students are diversified and good learners. There is a good sense of order and great parent involvement. This is over all a good school.
Superb school indeed. We moved from a different country and never realized how my children got accomodated. Very supportive management.
This school is a blue ribbon school. I do not know what these poor comments but i do hope these parents have a change of opinion!
I teach at a local elementary school. I have two children at WBMS. One is in tag and the other is not. They get their homework completed, and are not discipline problems in the classroom. They both receive above average academic instruction from the teachers. I think school is what you and your children put into it. We support the teachers, and our children are both happy and love school. I would not want to have our children attend any other middle school!!
This is an amazing school. It has won the Blue Ribbon Award, which is the highest honor a school can receive. The principal is amazing, she won the national principal of the year award. The princpal is very involved and loves to talk and interact with students. She is never grumpy, always smiling. It is very sad that she is retiring. She will very much be missed. I wouldn't want to go to any other school.
I have a daughter that goes to this school, I will say it's a great school. I will say I cant say much for the school Principal ( she very rude) I dont deal with her , Outside of the school Principal , this a great school my daughter enjoys the school . the eight grade asst. principal id great she takes time out to speak to parents . I will agree with some of the parents who commented about the school only focusing on TAG kids alot ( the attention should be even out ) . Majority of the teachers are ok
I have heard many great things about this school, and also bad so it is up to YOU!!!!!
Great school, excellent teachers, and my child is not in TAG. However, there does seem to be a lot of bullying that is going on in the school hallways. I hope it is being addressed, but the kids don'e seem to think it is.
My daughter goes to Webb Bridge and she says she has a blast. The staff is dedicated, trust-worthy, and hard working. This school is simply amazing. I wouldn't want my child going anywhere else.
I agree with STRONG discipline. NO question about it. IMHO, it's the number one reason the schools are out of control everywhere. To talk back to my teacher, let alone anything more, was simply incomprehensible. However, WBMS is not perfect. Far, far from it. It's a very 'politically correct' environment where certain situations are tolerated. If your kid is a TAG student, I applaud you and of course, your child. If you child, however, is a special ed kid, be prepared to battle with Fulton County and the school(s) in general for any help that you may need. It will not generally be offered. After all, they do have to move the masses through no matter the cost. Bullying is somewhat routine in schools and if your child has to endure it, get on it QUICKLY and start to document the problem. I had several children that endured it their entire tenure.
Overall Webb Bridge is a great school, one of the top in the state. I am a parent at this school and teach at a different school. My child loves most of her teachers. The only issue I have with Webb Bridge is the principal. What has been stated on the reviews is true. As a parent I wish she would leave, as a teacher I would not work for her. TAG is open to each student based on test scores and classroom grades for each subject--not the same as at the elementary level. I would like to see teachers be more on top of hurtful student behavior that comes along in middle school.
In response to some of the people who have said that Webb Bridge is an awful school and that their children do not deserve detentions, or that the teachers are horrible, or that the TAG students are the only ones that matter, I have some news. I am a TAG student, and I love Webb Bridge. Most of my teachers are good at what they do and experienced. If you don't think your child is getting the attention he/she deserves and that he/she is struggling because if it, your child needs to work harder. Maybe it's their fault, not the teachers'. The reason the discipline seems so 'strict' is because there are some children who need discipline. Detentions are given out to teach lessons, and if children could turn homework in on time and follow instructions, they would not receive them. Maybe it's the students that are bad, not the school.
My kids are in Webb Bridge now and I wish I had the opportunity to read these reviews prior to moving into this school district from Michigan. I agree 100% that this school is only out to nuture the TAG students and does not recognize kids who have the equivalent potential or maybe even greater strenghts than the so called 'TAG' students . The fairness or the lack thereof of the whole TAG selection process is questionable. The Principal is downright rude and actually insulted us in a face to face meeting in the presence of others . It does appear to me that kids are picked and then 'worked on ' to be then labeled as gifted--- yes you guessed right TAG!! Discipline is another sore point at Webb Bridge, both in the school campus and on the buses. The teachers largely do not seem to believe in constructive criticism of students.
I had 2 daughters attend Webb Bridge. We have since moved out of state, and would give anything to be back at Webb Bridge. My daughters received a far superior education at Webb Bridge as compared to other schools - we have moved frequently. Too many schools are concerned with scores. They concentrate on bringing underacheiving students up to grade level. In the meantime, the better students are bored. Not only was the curriculum challenging and excellent preparation for high school, but the school also offered wondeful extra-curricular opportunities.
I would have to agree with the negative reviews on here. There seems to be a pattern here and where there's smoke there is fire. I blame the problems with the principle because she sets to tone for the school. It shows in the teachers attittudes and compared to alpharetta high this school is a big disappointment.
This school is a big disappointment. We have found the principal to be cold and arrogant. Administration is more interested in how fast they can execute a fire drill then the quality of the learning environment. Maybe If your child is a TAG student ,or has a behavioral problem this school would be a good place. Our child that tries hard, is average to good academically, and is a bit shy. Over the past three years we have had to employ tutors and had to in the evening to fill in educational gaps.
My daughter is in 6th grade. Webb Bridge did a poor job of transtioning the kids from elementary school to middle school. All they did was scare them with the rules. They were not nurturing. I think the problem is administration more than the teachers.
Webb Bridge seems to struggle with the growth in North Fulton County. Counselors and assistant principals are new and are not clear with communication or resolving conflict with learning and teacher performance. The last several years both of our children have seen the results of leadership positions being filled by warm bodies versus talent.
We moved here from Virginia last August and my son started 6th grade at Webb Bridge. He is very unhappy at the school. Discipline seems to be an issue. Either over or under disciplining. The principal and school in general seem to cater to TAG and getting awards. The majority of the teachers don't seem to really care about the child as an individual. It is an ok school but if my older son had not wanted to attend Alpharetta High School ( which is great) I would not have chosen to live in the Webb Bridge catchment area.
