I am a parent of a sophomore at CHS. I have found the school's greatest strength to be its teachers, who are a very dedicated group who are excited about their school and very interested in their students. There's a broad array of AP and Honors courses as well as sports, and I think a well-organized student can do both (my child will take 4 AP classes as a junior and play 1 sport). The sports obsession mentioned in other reviews is there, but I see it at the other area schools as well. New band wing is under construction now, new classroom wing built last year.

Now that the State of GA gave it GA High School of Excellence for Student Achievement Award and the transfer of the overcrowding . CHS is looking GOOD Mighty GOOD !

Was suffering from extreme overcrowding but that seems to have improved. I've never run into issues with not having top-level AP courses available that the kids want to take, and while I agree there are some problems (too much $$$ on sports when it should go to technology/classrooms and teachers, a neglected arts program that needs more administrative support)... by and large the availability of classes & extracurriculars and reputation of the school makes it one of the best public high schools in the state.

Overall students and teachers find that Chattahoochee provides a strong education in a safe, fair, spirited environment where the can be involved in many different activities and receive excellent opportunities and training for college and beyond.

The epitome of a football obsessed school. The academics are far from stellar and the school itself is deteriorating. Chattahoochee just can't keep up with the competition.

My 2 daughters (9th and 10th grade) started at CHS this 07 school year. Overall, we are very pleased with what CHS has to offer as it appears to have a better balance of daily homework assignments, than what we had at Langley HS (in Va.). As a result, they can actually handle being given some extra responsibilities in clubs. Students & parents have to be Very proactive & club involvement is Highly recommended. Lots of clubs to choose from (some even meet in the am.). Sports are time consuming here, however, since the homework load is lighter, kids seem to be able to handle this balance well. A school with solid academics and social environment, and also appears very safe and well-managed. We feel that this school has the best of all worlds balance-wise and are very happy with our experience at CHS so far!

This is a wonderful school. I have had one child graduate from this school and now attends the University of Georgia, one who is currently a Junior, and two more who will attend in the years to come. It offers an excellent college prep curriculum and prepares students to get into top ranked colleges and universities. The school offers excellent Honors and AP classes and is always encouraging students to get involved. The administration is excellent and the teachers are great. My children loved, and love this school and all it has to offer. The sports programs, music, and student gov. programs are excellent. This school definitely gets my vote.

Chattahoochee has some great academic records, but its focus is mainly on the sports of the school. Much of the schools budget has gone to mainly football, and they do not pay attention to other sports. There are some really good teachers at this school but like all high schools there are some incompetent ones that should not be able to teach. I am a junior at this school and feel that the school has met up to its potential in the honors programs, but lacks it in the regular classes due to its need to baby some students. Overall the school environment is good and is one of the best in this district, but all schools in alpharetta are great.

CHS has excellent teachers and extra-curricular opportunities but principal lacks imagination, innovation, and leadership skills. Despite his lack of vision, he is approachable and the school is one of the best in the county due to the wonderful staff and parental involvement.

We've had 3 children go through Chattahoochee so far and couldn't be happier with the education, atmosphere, sports, music, theatre, etc. Absolutely fantastic school that is very accepting of students from all backgrounds. Now that the school has approximately 2100 students (from 2900) I think it's the best high school for college preparation in the area. Lots of extremely active parents involved in all areas! New principal is learning the ropes but has the student body behind him and relates extremely well with the youth. Great bunch of teachers, staff and administration. People who actually care!

My daughter is a Senior and my son is a Freshman. I am very pleased with this school. Their education is GREAT. My Sr. has been accepted at ALL the colleges she has applied to, in and out of state! When someone asks me where they go, I proudly say Chattahoochee!

No school spirit, everyone is always too busy to help out. Teachers work hard, new principal is green but tries.
