We have been at the school for 10 years. Leadership drives an emphasis on creating an elite image for the school which can interfere with what is best for students. The school places a heavy emphasis on fund raising, giving a lot of control to the wealthiest donor families. Some of the teachers are excellent and some are not. It's a very sheltered, parent-driven environment. Moderate in academic challenge. Great development opportunity and play-time for average athletes who may not get to play at larger public schools.
By far the best school we looked at!! Faith driven, high academic standards and a great community base and feel!!
Our son absolutely LOVES Mt Pisgah. We came from another Christian School in the area and have something to compare with. I can say without a doubt, the last 2 years at Pisgah have been so much more fun, more educational, more rounded, and done more for my son's social and academic growth than the previous 4. The teachers are caring, but stern. Fun, but structured. The leadership is committed to providing the best learning environment in the state, and I can't imagine being anywhere else. That's not to say it's perfect in every single possible way. But they deal with issues proactively and really PARTNER with the parents to get the most out of your child. It's truly a blessing to be a part of the Pisgah Family, and it really is a family. What more can you ask for? The entire staff is open and honest and transparent. The Watch Dog Dad program is fantastic. It's great synergy between parents and staff. Kids learn respect thru the teachings of Jesus Christ, and displayed through example by the teachers. I can't recommend Mt Pisgah enough Truly a blessing in a world that needs more blessings.
Our two daughters attended Mount Pisgah and it has been disappointing to see the school turn a blind eye to bullying. We complained many times and had to have one of our daughters moved to another class because of the constant agressive behavior from the other student. The student was never suspended and after six months, the student was moved to the same class as our daughter. The hitting, spitting and bullying continues. When we brought it to the attention of the staff and principal, we were told that the school cant accomodate us. Our daughter is shy and well behaved and we are shocked! Why they would let the integrity of the school not be upheld and discipline the child?? We are soooooo dissapointed... Academically the school is great. My older daughter also has issues with bullying. Students in her class make fun when she asks questions and humilates her. They steal her shoes on the playground... Where are the teachers in these incidents??
Our daughter has attended Mount Pisgah for the past seven years and it has been very rewarding for her. When she arrived as a new student, she was immediately accepted and embraced by the other students and faculty. Her teachers always make time for her and she has created great memories through international trips, spiritual retreats, mission trips, and involvement in athletics and arts. Pisgah was deifnitely the right choice for our family.
My child graduated from Mount Pisgah and has enjoyed great success in both undergrad and grad school at UGA. While Mount Pisgah may not be the best choice for all, no other school could have served my child better.
My daughter has attended Mount Pisgah Christian School for 7 years and we absolutely love it. There are so many reasons to go to school here, but a critical standout is the low student-to-teacher ratio and small class sizes. I cannot imagine her attending school where there are 5-7 classes per grade with 20-25 children in each class. I'm also thrilled with our lower school curriculum that includes for every child- at no extra charge - Spanish class, a science lab, music class, computer class and art class every single week. (Especially when so many schools are cutting out these important programs.)
My daughter has attended Mt. Pisgah for 6 years. She has thrived academically, spiritually and socially. I send her to the school without hesitation and would recommend Mt. Pisgah to happily.
We transferred here from a great school in Alpharetta and found the transition very easy in the middle school. The teachers have been excellent and very accessible when your child needs help. The middle school principal Paul Foltz has been terrific whenever I have had questions. We will be continuing on to the high school. We have had a wonderful experience so far!
My two children are in the Early School Full Day Program. The school and the teachers have been such a blessing to our family. Both of my children are receiving an enriched curriculum (Bible, Spanish, Ballet, Karate and movement) and adore their caring teachers. I really struggled with the fact that I had to go back to work full time before my children started elementary school, but the time and attention that they receive at Mount Pisgh has eased my anxiety. We are fortunate to be there.
My nephew currently attends Mt Pisgah and has also been a target of bullies. This school seems to have a real problem with bullying. They are addressing it in the lower grades but no in the middle school. I am very disapointed in how they are not addressing bullying. It is a huge problem in their middle school.
We have been thrilled by our daughter's experience at Mount Pisgah. We moved to Atlanta four years ago and we were nervous about her starting a new school - making new friends, working with new teachers, etc. We couldn't be more pleased! She was embraced by the other students and the teachers treat her like family. She loved the fall retreat - where she had the chance to bond with her teachers and fellow students. She looks forward to going to school everyday and we are so happy she is in such a positive, Christian environment!
We are the parents of an elementary school student(s) here and I have had similar experience with lack of action on bullying. There does not seem to be any clear cut policy on bullying and I am amazed they do not even talk to the offending child. The academics are excellent though. The teachers seem to be passionate about their jobs but I suspect their hands are tied as to what they can do about bullies if the administration does not establish enforcable guidelines. We are actually considering changing schools because of this! We feel this is very important for the overall health and safety of our children.
My child attended early school half day for 3 years and then kindergarten. The school is totally lacking rules and disciplines. My child suffered bullying in the playground as well as classrooms. The school knew about it, but did not help much. I could not believe that a private school would allow known bullies stay at school even after they were proven to bully small, sensitive kids on constant basis.
I have a child that has attended early school full day for a year now and half way the director changed and it has been a noticeable difference! The current director is not involved, not visible and only present part time. The school is lacking rules and/or protocol to sick children and disobedient children. I believe it all starts at the director level to carry out the procedures and be proactive in improvement. I wish they'd bring the old director back who was loving and interested and had a genuine interest in the children and the policy in the school.
My son has attended the early school full day program for the last 3 years, and it truly is a wonderful place. The only thing keeping me from rating it is as 5 stars is that there has recently been a change at the director level for the school. There used to be a full time director who was wonderful, knew every child, greeted parents at drop off and pick up, and just handled most every problem and situation with extreme professionalism and efficiency. However, the current director is there as a part-time position and is not usually visible and seems to be very defensive in problem-solving. A school this large with the number of children and issues that can come up in the daycare setting should warrant a full-time director who is more visible and proactive with parents. Other than that though, the teachres and programs are absolutely first rate.
My son has attended Pisgah for the last two years in their Early School Half Day Program (preschool). We absolutely love it. Everyone from the front office to the teachers to the other parents are fantastic. You really feel like part of a big family and everyone cares about your child. We were only going to attend Pisgah for preschool, but now we wouldn't even think about leaving and he will continue his education there. Couldn't recommend it enough!
Mt. Pisgah provides not only a tremendous educational program but also creates an environment in which the student is enabled to excel personally.
MPCS is a good place for children to gain confidence in all area of academia. It is a loving environment that can only foster confident young people in near future. All teachers are caring and loving, they are just great . My kids have attended since three years old and now they are in 1st and 4th grade and love going to school.
I cannot say enough good things about MPCS and the Christ centered approach they bring to education. My daughter is in the lower school yet we still find ourselves among the Pisgah faithful in the stands for many of the Upper School events because it's all part of the family. The whole school environment is very welcoming and they truly value each child as an individual as they seak to develop the whole person. Through continuous imprpovement efforts, the administration is not resting on it's laurels and is not content with 'close enough'. MPCS is an all around outstanding school.
