I went to Ridgeview in 2009-2011. I am now a 9th grader who is going to Riverwood, the feeder school of Ridgeview. Ridgeview was not all that bad. Though, there was a lot of drama behind the scenes and there was an incident concerning drug use in the school. I took all TAG (honors) classes, and had a great time with most of the teachers. Some teachers are actually concerned about students graduating, while others are more concerned about getting through the day. The school is not as diverse as it was in recent years. There is now just a majority of 1 race, and then a small percentage of others. Other than that, the sports program is decent, but the music program is amazing. The music teachers are dedicated to what they do. I know as I am a 5 year band student, and I have many friends in chorus and orchestra. In the end, all I'm saying is to really look in the school before deciding to send your child there. Go for a tour and see the students and the teachers.
Decent School. Can't say much more. I went there for 6th grade and was rather disappointed. The education was fine but there was a lot of uneeded drama and very inapropriate conduct of some students. Ridgeview is very diverse, given it's 3 feeder schools are all very different, Herds Ferry having a lot of "white" students, Lake Forest having a 100% Latino population, and High Point being a mix of both. Putting all of this aside, the education is nice for students who need advanced learning classes. The advanced (TAG) classes are good, but they do not challenge the students enough (in one person's opinion). Ridgeview offers a lot of extracurricular activities and sports, but the sports teams are not the finest, but it is still nice that they offer them. Overall, Ridgeview Charter Schools is an "ok" school. I hope this review helped!!!!!
This school is a disappointing. You think because it is an IB (International Baccalaureate) MYP school, it would be good. But this isn't the case. There are only a few teachers that are qualified and actually care about their students. It had a wonderful principal, Ms. Cox. But, she received a promotion for a job elsewhere. Anyway, the test scores and diversity at this school are low. Many students are bad or druggies. There are many kids that are snobby, too. If you think this place is a good place, it's time to reconsider. I have only been here for 1 year and yet my experience is horrid at this school. Hope this helps! :)
Wonderful school. I have two girls attending. The education is great, teacher involvement wonderful and it is a really safe school What more can one ask for?
I have been a student at Ridgeview for my 6th, 7th, and my 8th grade years(I'm in 8th grade now). The school finished a renovation at the beginning of my 8th grade year and let me say---the school is huge and beautiful! But don't let that fool you; it won't stay this nice for the future years because there's so many bad, iggnorant kids that will distuct the building. This school also has a uniform policy, but it is rarely ever inforced; they say to only wear polo shirts w/ black or khaki pants/skirts,etc. but mostly everyone doesn't! And also there's a lot of racist kids that think it's funny to discrimnate blacks, mexicans, whites, etc. This school also has a lot of 'wanna-be gangstas' and drug addicts. But this school does have a nice music program that I'm proud of. Hope this helps...
I have been to many schools in my life, and this one is by far the worst ( im in eigth grade ) the students are awful to each other, and although some teachers are good, some are just plain awful. I feel this school has put a stop to my education for two years, and im glad im leaving this year so i can actually get a good education next year
I am in 8th grade and both my sister and I have gone to Ridgeview for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. We recently just finished a school renovation. The new school is HUGE and really nice, but i doubt it will last like this for years and years to come, because there are students who mistreat it. We have uniforms, but it's rare that they're really strictly enforced. We have great extra-curriculars and a lot of new clubs, but poor athletic teams. The music program is great and every 3 years we go to a big city, this year it's D.C. The principal has very little tolerance for misbehavior, and it is very easy to get ISS OSS or expulsion. I hope this review helps you!
It's not the best but not the worst school either. I think that the teachers and counselors are great. They have great programs for the children. Ms. Umoh the Vice Principle is very understanding but stearn when need be but the Ms. Cox I don't know. I can't put my finger on it but something is not right with her. It isn't as divers as one of the parents claimed below. I think they need more male teachers in the school that teach core courses like math, language arts and science. They also need some type of program for ADHD or ADD children aside from medicating them on mind like zolof.
I taught at this school in Fall '07. It is a wonderful school that feels like a real community. The level of caring and involvement of the whole staff for students and their parents was outstanding. The principal is a very strong leader with great respect for teachers and for all kinds of learners. I wish my children could attend this school.
The worst school my four children have encountered. The principle is very disorganized and doesn't understand the meaning of management.
