My son is learning on a kindergarten level and he is only 2. People are amazed to hear him speak, he can count to 30, recite months, days of the week, and spell his name!!! Thank you Ms. Kalena, Dee, and Shikana!!!!
JLC is AWESOME! If you care about pretty desks and chairs, go somewhere else. If what you want is GREAT teachers in a challenging and supportive learning environment, combined with discipline, structure and a respect for the value of a great education, then Johnson's Learning Center is where you want to be. My daughter entered the school in Kindergarten and was behind all the other students who had been there for years. Within months she was caught up, and by the end of the school year she was at the top of her class.
Johnson's is the best private school in Georgia! The facilities are not up to date, but to me, it adds to the mystique!! The facilities are very humble but the education is explosive!! All three children have attended and once they graduated, the public schools don't know what to do with them because they are so far ahead of everyone else. Johnson's majors in mastering the basics, not all that other crap that public schools seem to be caught up in! What a fabulous place to send a child!! I love it!!
Johnson's Learning Center is the BEST. Since the beginning I have been impressed with the staff at JLC. My son is only two and already he has learned and recognizes letters, shapes, numbers, seasons, and they are currently working on writing skills!!! Whenever he is around other two year old children I see a major difference in the vocabulary and academic abilities. I would recommend anyone who is serious about education to send their child to Johnson's for a great foundation!
My daughter is currently in grade K at JLC, and she has been at JLC for 3 years (since age 3). At first, JLC takes some getting used to. The school has been in the community over 30 years, and the owner, Mrs. P. Johnson, lets you know that it is basically her way or the highway. However, the education is exceptional. I am an educator, and I compare my child with other children her age. She is far more advanced in all areas including rdg/wrtg, math, critical thinking, & articulating her thoughts. There is a lot of hmwk! Parents have expressed a major dropoff when their children transition into public schools. I feel my daughter is receiving a priceless foundation that will propel her in the future. The parents at JLC are middle-to-upper middle class, w/many being educators. There is exceptional parental involvement from both parents. The children are also taught to have pride in their culture. The teachers/staff are very strict, but nuturing. I love the fact that majority of the staff has been there well over 20 years; thus, providing the children w/stability. It feels as if I'm leaving my daughter w/her grandma or auntie. I know she is in loving & caring hands at JLC.
8-10-11 The school may have an outstanding review as it relates to education, but the administration is less than desirable. The Owner's family members have a reputation for being rude and discourteous I finally witness and encounter today first hand.(had heard a lot of compaints but never experienced it first hand). I observed the most inappropriate interaction with a child and parent that had me baffled. I truly appreciate the great demand for this school, however, depicting this kind of behavior is not indicative of Johnson's Learning Center because it reputation about education is held in such high esteem. It would appear to me that the school should exercise the same values if not more as it relates to educating a young child with humility and respect, ultimatley this is a Business. Henceforth, not sure if I will be recommending this facility to other perspective parents/students.
My child has attended Johnson's Learning Center since the age of 2. It's a really good school and I'm very pleased that my child is being exposed to advanced learning at an early age. If I could make suggestions, they would be to update the facility. The students are taught within trailers. A school cafeteria would be nice as would a gym, a teacher's lounge, a larger kitchen, a computer lab and most importantly improved parking.
I am very pleased with the challenging curriculum at JLC! The foundation that my child is receiving at Johnson's I feel will prepare him for a bright future. The kids also truly learn manners and problem solving/conflict resolution skills.
My daughter started Johnson's in June 09. This is her first experience in school. She is 3 and in the 3 year old class. I am absolutely pleased with the program at Johnson's. The staff is attentive, caring and makes your child feel special. I am impressed with what she has learned in this short amount of time! The staff at Johnson's are the best. I would highly recommend this program. I plan on keeping her there for as long as I can.
My daughter attended Johnson's Learning Center over 7 years ago. Since she left Johnson's she has been at the top of her class in the last 3 schools she has attended. My son now attends Johnson's and I can already see that he will follow in his sisters footsteps.
The school is great. We just need an updated facilty with updated security, technology and resources for the kids. I am pleased with the outcomes so far. These would simply make the learning environment even better. Perhaps a library, gym, and cafeteria so that students can experience these as they will in years to come.
I would recommend Johnson's to any parent who is serious about his/her child receiving an excellent education!! While at JLC, my daughter has been learning concepts that I would've thought were possibly too advanced.. But she actually taught me some things; when she was only 3, she taught me about African-American greats that I had never heard of!! And she knew speeches for a few of them. My daughter is now 5, and no one can believe it because she's reading, and is very articulate! As an educator myself, I can honestly say JLC has and still is laying the foundation that I know will take her future to great heights!!
My son is in Pre-K and he is the 3rd child in my family to attend JLC (my niece and nephew attended and are in the gifted classes in their public middle schools). JLC is an investment that is very well worth the sacrifice. I appreciate the fact that my child's educational experience is approached with such rigor and focus. The curriculum is challenging, the teachers are wonderful and they truly care about the children. If you want your child to get an exceptional education - send him/her to Johnson's!
I had had my child at a Christian school that gave a great combination of nurture & learning. I was extremely happy with them, but at Johnson's Learning Center I saw such a dramatic difference in the learning curve! My then three year old was learning everything from ABC's to African American History speeches (not just hers, but she knew those of all her friends)! Johnson's Learning Center has been an absolutely fantabulous experience for my family and is well worth the wait list!
Wow, what can I say about Johnson's Learning Center? My daughter is a junior in the top high school in my area and we still see the residual effects of all of the good habits she developed while there. The teachers are caring. This meant alot to me since my daughter was very shy. Johnsons was instrumental in developing her confidence level and preparing her for the academic rigor that she continues to receive while in the gifted & high acheiver program at her present school.
I have a daughter who attended Johnsons and is now in private school. She started with them in the toddler room and was potty trained in less than two weeks. She is now in public school after completing k at Johnsons and is on top of her game, socially, academically, and emotionally. I am an educator myself and I can not take the credit for own daughter being an avid reader who does not shy away from competition. My son is now at Johnsons in the toddler room and he is also learning at the same pace. The Johnson's philosophy is plain and simple...get them prepared now...while the brain is like a sponge...I have referred so many people to Johnsons and I will continue to do so. I plan on keeping my son there through 3rd grade because of the structure and focus put on respect and academics....
A few years ago, my wife was still an elementary teacher (she's now an Assistant Principal) and she used talk about kids at her school from this place called Johnson's. They seemed to be ahead of everyone else. Well, we had a child in 2002 and he started Johnson's in 2004 (he's just started Kindergarten) and he is extremely confident, eager to learn, sociable, ahead of children his age that attend other schools and well behaved. Johnson's has high expectations of the students, their great teachers and the parents. The teachers are great, friendly to parents and very nurturing to the children. The students take frequent educational and enriching field trips. The tuition is not high and the only concern I have is what will we do when my son's time at Johnson's is over.
The academic program is second to none. I love Johnson's Learning Center for my son. His vocabulary is phenomenal. Johnson's staff is caring and professional and they will go out of their way with your kids. Many parents wonder if the work load is a bit much for the kids, but in such a globally competitive society, our children need to be prepared to meet the demands of tomorrow. My son started when he was two and it astounds people the knowledge he knows.
My daughter has been attending JLC since kindergarten, she as well as myself love the school. The kindergarten program was excellent, not only did she do well as it being her first year but excelled. The homework assignments allow the children and parents to work together, some may think of it as too much but it encourages positive quality time with parents and prepares them to continue a study pattern throughout their educational tour even after 3rd grade. The projects are fun for the children and the parents also, as we work on the projects it allows you as a parent to really see the creativeness in your child even during the tiring moments.
