I have not been impressed with the school. I can not get a clear understanding of its curriculmn. It's a small and things could be more organized. Teacher's are dedicated but I believe the school is dated in a lot of areas. If you need a small nurturing environment this is the place. But excelling acadamically and being competive with other private schools, they are lacking. I like a more engaging and creative environment. If your child has some learning challenges, this may be a good fit.

My daugther and I loved this school from the begining, the personnal attention she received from her teachers that helped reach her full potiental in her education upon graduation from I.P.I. and entering six grade she was on seventh grade level .

Over the two year I have been with IPI, I have seen great things from my child. At four, my child was reading, and continues to love read more than toys now at the age of six. I see great things coming from The Davenport School at IPI. I'm glad my child is still a student there. Keep up the high standard IPI, our children appreciates all that the teachers and staff are doing.

I am an aunt of two students at IPI. I know that for the youngest child who has a learning disability IPI is definitely a blessing. She has made so much progress there. The oldest child could possibly make it in public school, however he has done very well at IPI he does a remarkable job and outside of just schoolwork they learn a lot of Culture and I think that is also very important. A very pleased Aunt

I appreciate that tuition at I.P.I. is moderately priced, so that parents have an option for their children to receive a quality education. For a school that operates only on tuition and fees, I express the depth of gratitude our family has for I.P.I. Thanks for caring and being supportive. The love and concern shown our children are awesome. No matter how good the teachers are, they can not reach their full potential without an effective coach. Our Head at I.P.I. is just that! Her vision is truly a wonderful one. Keeping them there where the education they are getting is second to none, also, maintaining stability and consistency. The curriculum requires being challenged, focused, and mind-set for higher achieving, as well as, providing a balance in becoming responsible and successful young people. I.P.I.'s heritage dictates so sincerely what is desired for our children.

Hello all, upon first speaking to top staff I felt that this was the best choice out of a few private schools. How ever after being their for three weeks we had not received books. Lessons in math, reading, language was below his grade level, when it became time for tuition to be paid there was signs posted three days in advance everywhere. This schools focus was definitely money. The teachers are lacking in communication and very quick to point the finger when it is themselves at blame. Only one teacher for social studies issued homework consistently. You are definitely not welcome to express constructive criticism, after voicing an opinion you are not spoken to and talked about negatively. This was a waist of money and I consider my child fortunate not to have spent any real time there.

i am a former student at IPI and my experience there was wonderful. The programs their are design to build and encourage students become leaders and productive people in the community and to society. As a parent they ask for people to volunteer their own time to help the school out. I believe if your child is in anything, a parent should always be present as well. A wonderful family to bring your children into.

My child has attended IPI for 4 years. Yes one can say that at times the administration operates like a totalitarian government, but overall they have been wonderful. When dealing with IPI a parent must realize that they are a family of strong black women: southern, traditional, highly educated, and religious. They want what is best for the children and they do love them. Any problems, approach it with a willingness to work with the teachers and administration. For the money, IPI is well worth it's weight in gold. IPI has wonderful and creative teachers and last year I think has been their best ever. My son is at least 1 to 2 years more advanced than his public school counterparts. Yes, some nights may be 3 hour homework nights, but with parents working together with the school, any child should graduate prepared for the top private middle/high schools.

As a parent looking for a school for their children, IPI is okay for the early school. I would not let my child stay past that tender age. When IPI was first started, the vision was clear but over the last few years the vision has been muddied. The school needs to expand to include administration staff that is not stifling. The tight knit of the family keeps the school from truly bringing out the best that the school can offer. The administration has to be able to accept constructive criticism from the parents, especially since the tuition is not free. If you are not able to express your opionions without feeling chastised or condemned then what is the point of paying extra money to send them to private when we already pay for public? I wish you well IPI, BUT NEVER AGAIN!

My child attended IPI at the early age of two. I have nothing but good things to say. However, most parents stated that it was a lot of work for young students to do. As a parent who works side by side with the school and an educator I strongly recommend IPI. The school allows students to work beyond their potential and expects the parent to help lead their children to excellence. My child left IPI due to distance; nevertheless, she was ahead of almost every student at a very rigorous program. If you have a child that wants to be challenge then IPI is for you. At the tender age of 2, my daughter was spelling and beginning to count money. I like the fact that the school is ran by family members because everyone in the school knows your child and their capabilities.

Speaking from experience, I would not recommend IPI to anyone. The administration is family centered and its focus is definitely money and not the kids. They cut corners with instruction, meals, and extra curricular activities.

I felt like as a parent we were reminded about tuition more than what they were teaching the children. Most people think, when choosing a private school its a better environment than the public schools. IPI is in it for the money.

Administration loves the children as if they were family. But what is a blessing for children who lack socialization, is a curse for children who would greater thrive in a more academically focused atmosphere. Teachers give answers, rather than teaching concepts which will allow children to arrive at their own, correct, answers. Administration is family, tread lightly with your complaints in person.

My child has attended I.P.I. for 2 1/2 years. I would have to disagree with the most resent review. I.P.I. does a wonderful job with their children. I believe that they don't ask enough of the parents. I.P.I. takes on all challenges that relate to children. Most times parents concerns aren't about the students and/or what's is their best interest. I've known administration not to entertain issues not concerning their students. There focus is on each individual child. My belief is that we had them, we can't expect the school to rear them too. That's the parents job. In regards to the fundraisers, the school isn't responsible for that. The PTA (PPSC) run fundraisers for the parent committees to have not the school. I guess you wouldn't have known that if you hadn't volunteered and/or worked with the PTA. Think before you speak!

I am a parent of high standards. I.P.I. does an excellent job. You pay for what you get. Money has never been an issue for me at I.P.I., because I've always paid on time. Parents should stop running from administration and pay their tuition and stop complaining. The Leadership of the school is supportive of students and their parents. However, for the three parents who wrote the reviews below, you must NOT have done what you were suppose to do as a parent. So, instead of speaking in regards of the school, what you haven't done should be the question!

My child attended this school for 2 1/2 years. Initially I was very pleased with the quality of academics and extracurricular activities, however as time passed, I noticed the high teacher turnover [with the exception of the early school, there was almost a new set of teachers every year], which seemed to contribute to the lack of consistency and focus on the curriculum. There also seemed to be more focus (from upper-level administration) on finances and recruitment than on the academics at times. I did love most of the teachers, they were awesome. This school is wonderful in concept, but could use new and unbiased management (non-family) to rejuvenate its mission.
