Kipp south Fulton is awful. Majority of the teachers are ghetto and they will belittle the children. I as a parent had to withdraw my child from this unorganized school. With this new principle this school has gone down hill.
KSFA is awful, the principle and staff bully and belittle the children. Punishments are given upon the teacher/principle mood for that day. Different rules for different students, the consequences are always to the extreme. Teachers will often get together and belittle the child. If your child makes any type of gesture or sigh it is considered gross disrespect and that child automatically gets three days out of school. If your child has been involved in any situation you will not here of it until 3-4 days later and then they are put out of school for three days. This school is awful
I would not recommend this school at all. Teachers yell at the kids on a regular basis. They belittle and demean the students. Those of you who know about the paychecks; it made my child say that they don't want to hear about a paycheck ever again. It's not good for the childs spirit. Leadership is non responsive to the concerns of the parents and students. Do yourself and your child a favor and do not send them to this school.
The experience here is what you make it. If I had been the parent to just drop off & pick up my child and not be consistent in being involved and challenge every rule, I'm sure both my child's and my experience there would have been mediocre at best. Leadership would do well to stick to the contract & get rid of those who don't adhere to the rules so those that do what they're supposed to don't suffer. If parents stopped using SFA as a 10hr/day free babysitter, the job would be much easier.
I would not recommend this school to other people. As a student I have the inside truth. Discipline Sucks. Sure you herd of paychecks. But that's to make them seem like the nice guy even though they yell and even 'Cuss' at students. Food sucks and is generally not enough and unhealthy. Don't be fooled just because they have 'KIPP' in front of there name
I love KIPP SFA! My daughter and niece attend the school. The students are encouraged to work hard and be creative. The work and expectations of the students is very demanding but it properly prepares students for high school. The school has a full time high school placement coordinator who very successfully aides the students in gaining acceptance to premier boarding, indpendent, and magnet schools. My wife and I are both teachers so we believe ourselves to have a valid opinion of a good school. The campus is lack luster at best and can often be disorganized but the learning is top notch.
I would not recommend this school. There are one or two teachers that are exceptional in ability to teach but the majority of the teachers are below average. Inconsistancy is a common thing. Its almost like they are coming up with ideas as they go. The kids have too much freedom to move around with no consequence. Children are in the halls no hall passes. The administration claims they seperate 7-8 graders from 5-6 graders but that is not the case at all. Dysfunction seems to be promote or not corrected. Its ok for students to speak to teachers or adults in a rude, disrespectful manner. Students walk around talking on their cell phones. Adult material and songs are incorporated into curriculum under the disguise of creative expression. The facility is run down, bathrooms are disgusting. The gym has makeshift areas for the children to change in which give plenty of opportunity for "accidents" to happen between boy and girl. Theres too much "group" work in class so if a child doesnt want to put forth effort they can slide by and get answers from classmates only to fail tests. Concepts are great as far as goals, procedures and creeds but it lacks enforcement.
We would like to send A BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE KIPP SOUTH FULTON PARENTS/PTSA!!! Our parents are the best in the Metro Atlanta area!! Teachers appreciation week was the best ever!! Our parents have moved from GOOD to GREAT!! If they had KIPP paychecks, they would have earned 20 bonus dollars. Thanks for everything, KSFA Team & Family
Don't be fooled read the AJC from 2009, google the school, and get a different perspective. You would think the school leadership learned from last year's bad press but he does not support the parents and the kids. During the assemblies, students must sit uncomfortably on the old hard carpet for extended periods when they should be seated in chairs. The 1st principal had the students sit properly, but not the newest one. Dilapidated building, very little technology, too many meaningless projects, many teachers YELL, bully, and work hard at belittling students all the time! Kids don't get a break to learn from their mistakes. This is a VERY stressful place! There is little room for being a well-rounded child. If your child is gifted or requires special education services you will be sadly disappointed. Most parents and students are unhappy but feel they have very few options.
this is a great school i actually love it more than anything great great school
