I absolutely love the AMIS community. While the school has had some growing pains, the families, teachers, and administration have weathered it together as a true community. My children are are happy to their cores - and truly love learning. I would recommend this school to anyone who values the growth and learning a child finds in a loving, nurturing community of adults and kids alike.

This is a fabulous school community, with truly wonderful and caring teachers. My child is in second year primary and his progress has been amazing. But more importantly, the montessori environment has given him a true love of and excitement for learning. I could not ask for more. I cannot say enough good things about AMIS.

My child has been attending AMIS for 6 years and is now in the Elementary class. I am ooverall exteremely happy with the school, how well my child has continued to learn and enjoy learning, and with the many ways the school involves parents. I feel her teachers have been truly outstanding, I almost can't imagine better. The school is nurturing and supportive, and works hard to embrace all types of families. I was not familiar with the Montessori method, and the school has really worked hard to ensure parents have may opportunities to learn about Montessori both at the school and at outside venues. The enrichment activities available after school are stronger every year, and although sometimes pricey are very conveninent for working parents. Overall wonderful school.

I have two sons that have been in the toddler and now primary class at AMIS. It is still a fairly new school (founded 2002), and as such there have been bumps along the way, but overall my children have been very happy here, and I feel they are getting an excellent education, both academically and socially. We have them in an all-day, all-year program and they are comfortable here, like home away from home. The teachers at this school are consistently wonderful! The student body is very culturally diverse. However, the administration has chosen a path of rapid expansion that gives me some pause. I wish they would focus on being the best small school they can be, and on stabilizing the program and the staff, instead of adding middle, and high schools as currently planned. They are constantly expanding, and that worries me.

This school has potential but unfortunately has chosen a path that does not honor or adhere to Dr. Montessori's Philosophy of Education. They are very "selective" in their choice of children to "normalize." Very elitist environment, which is sad and not Dr. Montessori's aim for education of the child.

My son is in one of the primary classed at AMIS and he loves it. It has a wonderfully diverse student body and is exposing my son to ideas and experiences I never thought he would get as a 3-year-old! The parents are not super involved, but not uninvolved, either. I'm excited to see what their expanded facilities will be like!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
