If you are looking for a school that creates incredible results for kids with ADHD, high functioning Autism, or other learning differences that can get in the way a social and academic growth, you owe it to yourself to come see the Cloverleaf School yourself. Talk to any parent, any teacher, or any student, and you will see why the school is growing from 3 to 12 ( current fall enrollment now at 8) students in only 10 months. Incredible teachers. Unique facilities. And, as you will hear from any of the families who have children there or any other direct relationship with the school, breathtaking results for the kids. Just check it out yourself and draw your own conclusions.
My son is changed. He is a different boy. Well, not so much "different," perhaps, as open and confident and available and communicative and chatty. For anyone who has known him, this registers immediately. He seeks them out to tell them stories, making sure they are looking him in the eye while he recounts them. Let me repeat: "making sure they are looking him in the eye." I didn't know a school could be like this. And while I'd like to believe I haven't done a miserable job as an adult, I occasionally wonder how my life could have been different if I had gone somewhere like The Cloverleaf School rather than schools that carefully and painstakingly taught me how to go to my "happy place," rather than engage in my classes. I will always be glad he has this school in his life.
My son's former school was helping him with his social issues, but his academic needs were not being sufficiently addressed. At Cloverleaf, their 4:1 ratio is allowing his teachers to individualize their instruction so he is able to be supported where needed and pushed forward where possible. They are using a new tool, Learner Profiles, to help him, and us, better understand how he learns. The teachers are so passionate about finding new ways to reach the kids and different means of communicating the materials. I see my son making huge leaps every week! We couldn't be happier!
I can't say enough about how committed and caring the teachers are here. They have worked so hard to make sure that all of the kids grow/develop in their own unique way. They keep the kids moving and having fun but not at the expense of academic substance. One activity, for example, had them learning physics by building and riding on elevators and then talking and writing about what they had discovered. I am also impressed that these teachers' technical knowledge in the field of education, special education in particular, matches their level of commitment. All of them sit on the cutting edge of curriculum development for kids with ADHD, ASD, and other learning issues. Most have travelled to other countries to see how education is conducted elsewhere. Therefore, each has been able to bring her own unique experience and considerable skills to bear. In our own case, my son has made dramatic improvements in all subjects, but especially in reading and writing, where he had particular difficulty. He no longer has tantrums about these tasks, and he will even pick up a book on his own! He loves his friends and he actually doesn't want to leave school at the end of the day.
