I'm a parent of formal 4 Sanders students and now have a kindergartener I can say there ifs a big change in the school from them til now. I believe it can get better if we receive more parent involvement. I'm going to give this school a try because I was tempted to take my daughter out but I'm going to take a stand as a parent and be the voice for this school we need more parent engagement please parents lets make our children school the best there is.
My child attended Sanders for 1 year - first grade. His teacher was great, and the special education staff was very attentive and professional. We ended up moving and my children are now enrolled in a better rated school, but as far as teacher-parent communication goes, I still prefer Sanders. Too bad there's no diversity and very little parent involvement.
Sanders is a great school with engaged administration and excellent teachers. My child has been at Sanders for 3 years and she has excelled. We have had teachers that truly care abou the children. I recommend anyone looking at Sanders to stop by and meet with the principal and staff.
Sanders Elementary has many needs just like most of the other schools in this area. There is no diversity, no challenging curriculum; there is a lack of vested teachers, parents and staff. Rules are not enforced because parents are intimidating and so are some of the children. Unfortunately, we are not afforded any other opportunities for our children unless the HB251 works out for you or you can afford private school. So as a parent you have to create different avenues to ensure that your child gets a decent education and be able to compete in a global community. If more parents paid attention to the scores and understood school politics and policies, schools in this area would get better. No one asks questions, few attend School Board meetings, PTA meetings and any other type of meeting that would help them gain knowledge of what is going on not just in our constantly failing schools but in the community as well.
I love Sandersl! We just returned to the school and the faculty & staff is very polished. The environment is warm and friendly. I really feel that my children are getting what they need at Sanders. The only thing missing is more parent participation. Actually, I think the rating should be slightly higher (5 or 6) because the test scores were great overall!
The lack of supervision in the cafeteria (during breakfast and lunch) has led to bullying and intimidation of students who are very good students and dont have the confidence to tell a teacher and expect a result.
I love Sanders! My son has been there for 3 years and we haven't had a problem. He learns alot and has had great teachers!
I am very happy with this school. My son transfered here at the begining of the school year. I am thrilled with the Target program he has been put in. This school also has a wonderful Nurse that has been more than acomadating with my childs needs.
I think Sanders does a wonderful job with my kids and am very happy they attend Sanders. Always very helpful
I think that this is a lousy school not enough focus from the administration not a challenging curriculum. Need a forigen language and the teachers are okay but I think that they can do far better then they are doing I pulled my son out and start homeschooling him unfortunately he has to go back to school but I'm looking for a far better school then Sanders to send him to for sure.
My daughter has been at sanders since pre- k, now she is in the 3rd grade , not happy with the curriculum or her 3rd grade teacher , always something negative , seem as though she is very prejudice! She will not return after this school year!
We have three children in this school. The administration is lousy. They offer no foreign language as part of the curriculum. The teaching staff is decent.
I have 2 children currently at sanders. One in the fifth grade and the other in third. I am not happy with the curriculum.
My daughter has been enrolled at Sanders since kindergarten (she is now in the 4th gr.). It has been good except the number of students per teacher has gotten way to high. I think there are 25 students in her class this year. there was a principal who was great, but left for a bigger job. in the meantime we have had a few temporary ones who wanted to throw their weight around. Now, we seem to have one who seems to be at our school because she wants to and cares.
I have two children enrolled there the teachers so far we have had are very nice. Last year my sons k- teachers Mrs. Billotte and Mrs. Stubblefield were great introduing him to kindergarden. My other sons thrid grade teacher was new this past year Mrs.Smith I could not of asked for three better teachers or a school . They help you and support every one in the school and also in the community.his year they are introduing a school in a school we all hope for the best and even more love and support. Also more one on one.Over all a great school.
