Based on previous reviews, I think that LCMS has come a long way. For those who had not been there since the old administration, you should come visit. We have a great family of wonderful teachers and administrators. Yes, dress code is still important because it is one way to teach the students that rules and policy are important. It is true that when the students are expected to dress properly, they're also expected to behave better. Believe it or not, our students are better behaved than most students from other schools. The only problem that we face is not enough parents being involved with their child's education and progress. Parents are more than welcome at the school, but we don't get enough. I like working and having my child attending here as well. We also take bullying very seriously and deal with it immediately.

Lamar County Middle School is 'Okay'. We do not like the dress code though. The teachers are very considerate! But some teachers are just to tough. They do not think about if the child has to use the restroom. They just think that the child can wait another hour or two. But other than that and the dress code the school is alright. The kids are really nice. Every time I eat lunch the kids are very behaved.I have went there all my life (the school system)and i have only had a few complaints.

My child had some personal health issues - well documented by MD. Getting cooperation the majority of the time with work to be made up during the year wore us out as parents - if we let anything slide - he would receive the brunt of the issue - a bad grade. The teachers did not make any effort to help - I had to beg for assistance allowing my child to make up his EXCUSED work. I agree with other parents that if a child had his shirt untucked - heaven forbid - but bullies are allowed and probably the children of the staff! Also, there is such poor communication between the staff and parents here - it is really pathetic - my child barely passed - it was practically impossible to understand these teachers and where they were coming from.

The school does not want parent involvement. If a conference is scheduled, you are not allowed to go to the classroom after signing in. The teacher is called to the office and they speak to you there. You are not allowed to drop in and have lunch with your child at his/her scheduled lunch time. It is as if they do not want you to see what goes on inside the school. It is like a dedention center with more concern over shirts being tucked in than teaching at state, much less, national standards. The test scores show how poor this school is doing and that is with the teachers teaching the test (CRCT) instead of the subject! It is on the Needs Improvement list, but School Choice is not offered with neighboring counties. Lamar County students and parents deserve much more than offered from the teachers, principals and BOE.

My child has ADHD the teachers don't know how to handle this matter, and makes comments to my child about this. I don't think its right. Look at there state TEST SCORES! they do speak for this school. Uniforms and dress code rules come before bully rules. I wish they had a record of kids that get ISS for Uniform and dress code. to compare to the kids who actully do something wrong. I wish Teachers write ups was where parents could see them and compare to the cleaning people at the school. This information would blow the Lamar County Tax Payer's mind away.

My family moved from clayton county to lamar county in the summer of 2003. My children had been overlooked in the middle school they attended because they were good children. There were several instances that my children were put into the position of defending themselves against bullies and i made my mind up that they were not going to fight their way thru school. My children were welcomed with open arms and open minds in lamar county. We have been treated with nothing less than the utmost respect and my children have excelled in this school. I don't even want to think about how we would have been treated in that other middle school. The staff at lamar county has been wonderful to work with and i look forward to my children finishing their public school education in the lamar county school system. Thank you for making the transition so easy.

Lamar County Middle School is the worst school I have ever had to deal with.I've had more problems with teachers at this school than ever in my life. There Test scores speak for the teachers. Most teachers use the excuse of not enough pay or having materials needed to teach there class. To me thats not excuse there are suppose to have with threw school there self, and should use that to teach there students.Instead they rather bring there students down with playing mind games and making quotes to bring there selfasteam now. There more worried about school uniforms than test scores. The Principals at this school is a joke, they have there pick of students and teachers, I just hope if you decide to go to this school that your child will be one of there picks,if not you are in for trouble. Please investagate this school really well before enrolling your child.
