My daughter started Kindergarten at Berkeley Lake Elementary School (BLES). My job is located in Alpharetta, and I wish that she could continue to go to BLES next year, because she thoroughly enjoyed the entire school year. Her teacher came up with unique ways to make learning fun. I have been amazed and impressed by the fantastic faculty and teachers at this school and the amount of community information that they supply to the parents to keep them involved. The after school events and games allows the parent to have a better understanding of how much your child is learning and give your child time to shine in their own learning environment. These events help the children feel proud of their recent accomplishments and show the parent their progress. Life is so much easier when your child enjoys school and cannot wait to go back. I would most definitely recommend Berkeley Lake Elementary School to any parent searching for the best environment for their child(ren)!

Just got the CRCT results from last year -- and BLES ranked FIRST in the STATE in language arts for the 4th grade! AMAZING!!! They increased their scores in all subgroups and in all subjects! AND they were 1st in the Duluth Cluster in 2 categories and 2nd in the Duluth cluster in the 3rd! There is a WHOLE LOT of LEARNING going on there!

This is our 4th year at BLES - I have a son in 3rd grade and another son in 1st grade. The teachers we have had in the past have been fantastic...and I can already tell this is going to be another great year! Both of my kids are receiving an excellent education, enjoy and embrace the diversity of the school and thrive in the positive environment our principal has promoted.

I cannot say enough great things about Berkeley Lake ES. My son is in the 2nd grade and LOVES going to school every day. The teachers, staff and principal are fantastic. They work hard to serve the great diversity in BLES. I am appalled at the review on 8/8/11 and think this parent would have been better prepared if questions had been asked before the first day of school. Teachers recommended water bottles at Open House, class schedules were given out and staff and volunteers were present to answer questions. Thank you BLES for creating a warm and inviting learning environment for our children.

I am amazed to read the August 8 posting. Open House was August 4, when all the reviewer's questions would have been answered, and tours of the school have been available LONG before the first day of school. This school had 30 new students registering the morning of the first day of school, so the staff was very busy (hey parents, don't you know you have a child who needs to attend school before the first day?). BLES is not small, is not dirty (the school's janitor has won county awards), and is very organized - please visit again, but not at 8 am on the first day when there is a registration crush) - I am there often and am very impressed at the control, organization, and teamwork in the classrooms and halls. Last spring, BLES 4th graders scored #1 in the state in language arts - and this is a school with a great deal of diversity! I think the reviewer's "this diversity thing" comment says alot about her views, and I hope her child learns more tolerance at school than he is learning at home- my kids have been extremely happy and successful at BLES and I am proud to say their friends come from a wide variety of backgrounds - just like the world for which we are preparing them!

We have had two of our children attend Berkeley Lake Elementary. One child is starting her second year at Duluth Middle. She attended BLES for 4th and 5th. My son started in second grade at BLES and is a 5th grader now. Prior to BLES we attended a well known private school. We wish we would have made the switch earlier! BLES is an amazing school!! We have been thrilled with the principal and staff!!! They are top notch!!! I am proud my children go to such a diverse, caring and academically strong school!!!!

Everything went wrong from day one, the staff stands around and runs their mouth instead of helping you, and for parents who are new you get told nothing. I asked questions everyday and was given a yes or a no, i didnt know where to pay for his lunch, where to pick up or drop off, no schedule of the class, i didnt know when they ate lunch because everything on their website was wrong. no one told me what class he would be in and i asked weeks up until school started. my sons class is horrible, and coming from the school he was in hes a little shocked, now im thinking the diversity thing was not a good idea, i had asked the teacher if they had snacks and she said yes when my son came home he had not eaten all day because i did not know to send a snack. they went outside and it was 91 degrees today, and my son said he told his teacher he was thirsty and she told him you should have brought a water so he told me he was drinking out the sink, now he just recently had a sever asthma attack, then to top it off this afternoon pick was a nightmare thats a whole different story def getting out of this school ASAP and its the smallest dirtiest looking school i have ever been too.

My son has been at this school since kindergarten and is about to enter 5th grade. I could not have asked for more caring, involved, motivating teachers for him. Many parents don't care for the diversity at our school, but I think it makes all of the students more culturally aware, which will prepare them for the ever-changing face of our nation. I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!!!

This is a big school that feels like a small community. The teachers are fabulous and the principal goes out of her way to make all the parents and students feel welcome! My daughter loves this school! The education and programming are A+!
