my school bowdon middle school is a great place to attend we have extra math classes for the ones who need it also extra science and reading. other connections are p.e. and band and music and computer. also we have always each year great academic achievement or improvement.yes they do strive for excellence a lot but its very easy to improve. and if you need help the teacher helps you. band is very fun we have concert band until you get to eight grade then in eight grade you have concert and jazz band. but in high school you have concert, marching, jazz and ensemble band.
The teachers are good, but the mentality of the students and community is horrible. I would not move a child into this environment if they are different from the norm in any way. Physical difference or physiological or psychological differences are not accepted by the student body or community. Sports are more important to some than academics. They groom them for life at Bowdon High School, an equally bad or worse school.
Jaguars was used when mt zion students also attended jms. This was for neutrality. When mz students left jms, the students voted to change the mascot to red devil. It is not stupid. It only makes sense as these students will be attending bowdon high school where the mascot is the red devil. As far as the school being based solely around football, i beg to differ. The teachers at jms stress academics and the administration stresses attendance - don't let your child be out unless they are to the point of death!!
Jonesville is an excellent school, my 8th grade son is not only a football player but is also very interested in what was called 'geek' classes- art and academics! Both my husband and myself are alumni of Bowdon High and agree with the name change to the Red Devils- Jonesville is a 'feeder-school' to BHS- A very proud school!
