Great leadership and excellent teachers! My children love going to school. I believe kids do well in school when parents stay involved and volunteer whenever possible.
This school is absolutely amazing. I took my daughter out of private school and enrolled her here. I could not be happier with the teachers and the school administration. The principal takes the time to get to know the students and is easily available to the parents. My daughter is very happy at Hasty and is receiving an excellent education.
I love Hasty Elementary. My son started after the Christmas Break. He was previously attending Canton Elementary. Although Canton was ok, the warmth and kindness of the teachers and staff at Hasty were overwhelming. I am so happy he is in a school where the teachers care about the kids!
the test scores do not look the best but that is only beacuse of the large special needs program at this school, when you have a large program the SP Needs kids scores get counted within their age group so a 5th grader with an IQ of a kindergartner's score would be put in with the 5th graders greatly reducing the schools scores overall. I am regulary in the school and have 2 children in the school. I have never been in a school where the teachers care so much about the children.
If your child is gifted or a quick learner this is not the school for you. They are excellent with language impaired children , autistic children and children who do not learn quickly. But the kids who can be pushed farther are left to sit . I was very disappointed.
I am so tired of people talking negatively about Hasty. It is a great school with great teachers. Our volunteers are wonderful! Sure we could use more volunteers but many fmailies have 2 parents that work. The population is diverse but that is what makes it great! If you feel like you have to complain, come volunteer see what it is really like. I am sure opinions would change!
The only true way to form an unbiased opinion about a possible school for your child is for you to find out about the school. Conduct your own research instead of forming an opinion based on rumor. See for yourself! Go to the school, meet the staff, take a tour, and see the amazing events going on within. I do not have children of my own, but I am an employee of Hasty. I strongly believe that by visiting our school, you will find a safe and caring environment for children that fosters a diverse community of learners. The staff at Hasty is devoted and committed to providing equal opportunities for all students. Students enjoy school activities that would not be possible without parent support. You are your child's parent, role-model, and advocate. Teach them how to form their own opinion instead of focusing on others.
This is a wonderful school. My child is now in first grade and I have been very pleased. We came from a district that received 'high' reviews, but this school offers a much better opportunity for parental involvement. Unlike out other school, there is no waiting list for parents to help out. We are always welcome. The teachers and staff are wonderful. I kept hearing all the negative things and was prepared to go private, but have been pleasantly surprised. If more parents would get involved, this would be a great school. As far as demographics, yes, there are more disadvantaged kids and there is a diverse culture, but my child is getting a true picture of what real world life will be like. Keep up the good work Hasty and please parents - don't complain - get involved! It will help the community.
I have 2 daughters attending Hasty Elementary. I am a single working mother with 3 little girls...I believe that a lot of single parents could relate to the anxiety you sometime feel being away from your children knowing you are your child's primary source of healthy living and development. Hasty has made me feel that their rules are parallel to mine; Without taking the place of home. I feel safe and pleased to see how, what and at what level they are learning. We moved to De and back last year...Not to compare any of the 4 schools that they have attended, but if I had to Hasty is number one on my list. : )T.D.
We have three kids attending Hasty: K, 3rd and 4th. We have been very happy with our teachers and Mrs. Flowers (Principle) My wife has been involved on a daily basis within the class rooms and PTA since the inception which seems to be below norm as most parents seem to complain or have negative perceptions of Hasty yet they do not volunteer or attend school functions. This can be a great school if more parents would help or support the school, teachers and PTA. Extracurricular activities such as drama, glee club and basketball are wonderful.
My child entered Hasty very excited and full of promise. This was without a doubt the worse school year in her life. Her teacher made several comments about her being an 'AIM student'.She was looking so forward to her 6th grade year and we were all very disappointed. No field trips,no end of the yrparty,graduation,dance...nothing.The other schools in the area I checked with all had something to make thier th graders and evern some 5th graders feel special.Middle School is a big deal for them and it was not even acknowledged.
Hello people! can anyone give hasty a chance?(Really)... First of all, we live georgia on education charts we are top 50 no excuse me 49... I love the mix of all the kids. My kids will benefit on knowing spanish, not becoming a racist redneck, and not being quick to judge someone by what they wear or the color of there skin... Come on do we really want kids to be close minded, they are the future... Stop expecting the school to do everything with your child sit down and help them with their homework ask them how their was read the book raising kids with grace, the five love langaues for kids... And if your so rich and high and mighty move! leave! see ya bye! lets teach our kids how to love, have manners, lets be great parents.. Help out at the schools, be involed, be more positive..
We have a mixed review for Hasty. It's beautiful (new facility) and some of the teacher's and admin. staff we've met have been great. But it's a poorer student population than we anticipated (65% subsidized lunches) and 55% hispanic. A few parents are super involved, but overall it's lacking in parent involvement. We're giving it one more year and if we don't feel better about it, we're going private schools.
We have been very disappointed with Hasty. Most of the teachers are excellant but a few need to retire. For my 4th grader it has been a terriable year. For the first time he dislikes school and doesnt want to go, I hope next year is better. There is great room for improvement.
