I am a freshman here at CHS, When I first came here, I knew i wont like it, they say they try to make everything conformable, my mom called up there and said that I want to be transferred, the principal told her just give it time, well I did and I STILL HATE THIS SCHOOL, i already knew I will hate it, and this school doesnt deserve to be the 'best' high school. couple years ago my friend's bro attended here, he got held back cuz they couldnt find his info. I seriously, dont think this is a good/best school. Go to Sequoya than here. and I am asking to get transferred, they say this is a huge mistake. its not
In a nutshell, CHS has the most compassionate, caring, dedicated and effective group of teachers and staff. The running force behind their effectiveness stems from Debbie Murdock's (principal) excellent leadership. The teachers/faculty AND students LOVE her! I have never encountered such a great group of educators and students. The students at CHS are absolutely sweet and have such great manors. It's a great school to have your children attend.
This school lacks organization. Students still do what they want, drugs, sex, all that is involved here. Its a very social school, in the sense that people who look a certain way hang with those who are the same and no one else. Its very clickish. The administration is horrible, its old, It needs to literally be demolished ! I hate cherokee and still do .
I love cherokee, its an amazing school. the teacher are great and they do care about what happens to you. its the best school ever, ever since i was little, when ever we would pass cherokee i would say 'mommy i want to go to that school' and now that im here i LOVE it, i have one more year and i graduate, im going to miss it so much, but i will always be greatful i got to be a warrior, and walk thoes great hall.. i love cherokee high school :)
My son graduated as Valedictorian of Cherokee High School, 2009. His four years at Cherokee were superb in all aspects relating to support, guidance, concern, and content from both teachers and administrative staff. Cherokee County schools have much to offer students, and they may make of it what they will, as did my son. I am glad that I made the deliberate move from the south end of the county to this district. The opportunity for achievement exists in all schools, but not all have such a loyal group of educators necessary to execute and promote principals that enable young men and women to excel on the basis of merit and achievement as does Cherokee High.
I recently moved out the Cherokee School district and had to go to Woodstock. I can honestly say that Cherokee High is way better academically and the teachers great!
Cherokee High test results were almost identical to Sequoia High school..a little in higher in some things. Cherokee High school test results are almost 20% more than the state average. A great school with excellent test scores, teachers and students. There are no drug problems or gangs. As with any school, if your child goes looking for drugs, I am sure they could find them, but that goes for all schools. This school has great kids with values.
Test scores last year were the only scores in the county to fall below standards. This school's education is extremely poor in quality compared to it's rival school, Sequoyah.
I'm a junior at Cherokee and I think that Cherokee is an amazing school. I've been here all of my years of high school and I've honestly not had any problems so far. Cherokee is a positive school, you can only have a negative experience if you make it a negative one. You choose what you do not the school therefore that's your problem, honestly not theirs. People should be thankful that the teachers here do care because so many students would fail not only in school but in life. There's a graduation coach here to get people on the right track and so many faculty and staff take care of you as well. All you have to do is ask. I play sports and most coaches are great as well. Cherokee has treated me well. It's a great school!
Cherokee High School is a great school! CHS is the only school in Cherokee County tackling the problems associated with the drop-out crisis: Freshman Academy. Every student is valued and supported with tutoring before school, after school and during their lunch period. All students are valued at Cherokee High School. The kids are very nice!
