My family and I recently moved here from another state. My first impression of McNair was that school off of the movie "LEAN ON ME." I agree. with the other parent. The kids do run the school. We couldn't get our kids enrolled without students constantly coming in the counselors office without passes/permission from their teacher. My kids come home telling me about different incidents with the teachers and the students and it's never good. I do know that WE as parents have to get involved, but the school administrators need to INFORCE the rules of the school as well. I think nowadays the teachers are afraid of the students. Where I come from the teachers were caring but tough. All of this is new to my kids (school with no structure) but since I'm not familiar with this state/area I didn't know any better. Hopefully next school term we will find a better school.

I have a Son who attends Mcnair and has for 2 year. I think most of the teacher are great but im having a issue with one teacher. I have followed the chain of command and I still havent been able to resolve the issue. I have even meet with the Principal on more than one occasion. I feel left out and this is the second issue with a teacher and nothing has been done. At this point im ready to change schools.

i have had one child graduate from McNair and is now a senior at Banneker and i now have a daughter in the 8th. I think McNair is an ok school. what makes the school is the teachers and they have both had some awesome teachers. i don't have anything negative to say about McNair. I understand the principal and teachers have to do what they need to in order to make sure the school is ran safe and suitable for all involved. I think the biggest problem is parent involvement. all schools need more of that especially in the south side schools.

I was once a student at McNair but i was unfortuantly withdrawn in the middle of my 7th grade year.I loved it because it was so much for you to do and get away with. Skipping class was so easy it was sad. Know i attend NorthClayton Middle School and i am in 8th grade. i miss all my freinds at McNair though.

McNair can be a better school if the Principal, Assistant Principals, and teachers just listen to what the children have to say also. Children have views as well as adults and should be given that respect. A child can have a bad day just as well as anybody else. On a more positive note, I have had two children to graduate from McNair and two that are still attending McNair, and I think the progress of the student depends on the child. I say this because I have had teachers tell me that my kids are very focused even with distractions from other kids.

I don not like this school at all. I sent an email to 3 of my daughter's teachers and didn't get a response from any of them. I spoke over the phone with one and told him I would be resending the email, and we could correspond. Never received a response again. One finally responded after speaking with him. The other teacher, nothing. The students do not receive homework every night despite the school saying they do. They are so behind in comparison to the schools in N. Fulton County. The slated high school for tihs school isn't any better. The school websites will tell you alot. Went to a PTA one eveing, and the teachers were literally walking out of the building as parents were trying to talk to them. I am moving at the end of the year, and beginning 2009 my daughter will be attending school in Roswell.

The principal is very involved with student activities. Teachers care and update parents on student progress. I like their administrative set up. Very professional.

I my opinion this school lacks control of the student body. I droped my daughter off there and made the mistake of waklking through the school to help her carry her books... And I was afraid to leave her there.I have since withdrawn my children from the school. The administration treated me as if I had the problem, not the school.
