OMG. The new principle is the WORST nightmare. She is fake (like a snake), incompetent, and just mere horrible. Our schedule is messed up the whole first week of school. We were forgotten and didn't get to go to lunch because without a schedule, we did not know where to go. The teachers did not have their rosters either. The principle, the staff could not even figure it out. The bathroom policy is outrageous. Well, there are some students who fake it to go...but at least the teacher should use their hearts and brain to decide to let the legit ones go. Anyway, if you are in magnet class then it is decent school. If you are in any "traditional" or "inclusion" class, then you might as well just stay home and watch TV-Probably you would get more education than being at this school.
In reading the comment below, I am amazed at what some of the comments say. My child has gone to this school for almost 3 years. Thank goodness we are almost out of here. My child is in the magnet program, which is a good program. I agree that the teaching staff is above average, no complaints specifically about my child's educational experience here. Of course she is very smart & would excel probably anywhere. The complaint the student had from several years ago about the bathroom policy is very ACCURATE and continues today. I had had to pick my child up from school the last 3 months in a row when she has had her cycle...as they are not allowed to go to the restroom at all during the day or the time they are given is so limited it is impossible. This is a big problem! As for my child's social experience, it is awful! They claim to have this "Great 48 Rules" they follow...well I can tell you they don't follow any of what is in there. There is major BULLYING at this school, boys, girls, both. Children who mistreat other children are given more attention and coddling than the ones who are there for the right reasons. Good kids are punished. I could go on and on!
Arnold is a great school! We have awesome teachers who go the extra mile to make sure the children succeed. Our sports and music departments bring yearly accolades along with many students receiving perfect CRCT scores! The building may not be new like many of our other schools in town, but it's not about the building!! The history at Arnold runs deep and we strive to recognize all alumni visitors to grab a spot on our wall. We have a great group of kids!
ARNOLD MAGNET SCHOOL IS THE BEST MIDDLE SCHOOL IN COLUMBUS, GEORGIA!!! OU CHILD HAS EXPERIENCED IT AND WE SEE HIS GRADES AND CRCT SCORES! WOOT WOOT !!!
This school is amazing!!!!! The teachers there are amazing!!!! They have so much to do through out the year. There band, orch. and chours are amazing!! These kids are really talented there!!! I should know im a student there and i love it !!!
I am currently a student at Arnold! One day, after school at Arnold, I asked may I go to the bathroom because I was on my menstrual cycle. The teacher refused to let me go. I told her the situation after she said no. She still refused! Later I asked her if I could go to the office and ask for a pad, she said no! I begged her, she refused! This was a horrible experience for me! :(
THIS SCHOOL IS AWESOME! WE HAVE NEW PRINCIPLES AND THE EDUCATION IS BETTER!!!!! SOO ALL THE OTHER REVIEWS ARE WRONG!!! Im in the 7th grade there now and it is awesome! We always have fun and we have a great time!
I went to this school in 2004 and I will tell you that it was the most miserable school experience of my young life at the time. The reason why is because if you are not in the magnet or involved in "popular" sports then the teachers pay you absolutely no attention and neither do the other students. The principal was prejudiced towards me and my sister and my mother had to confront him several times. And unless you like wearing collared shirts every single day, I suggest you don't go to this school.
My son goes to ARNOLD MIDDLE SCHOOL i think this school is awful and I wish my child had never went there the principal is awful
My son just left Arnold for high schiiool. Arnold is an excellent school. The principal is awesome. My son had a great experience in the magnet program. They prepared him well for high school. If I had to doit again, I would send him right back to Arnold. It is the best middle school in Columbus!
I love this school. The teachers were nice, but also some didn't care for the students.
The school was nice, i went there when i was in middle school and my teachers were wonderful and encouraging. The school also had plenty of rewards for the children who did well in conduct and academics. Plus there was no unfair treatment between magnet and traditional. It was nice to have people like mrs.Woods and mr. Register to help and encourage you so people should get the full story before they post untrue facts about this wonderful school
I go toTHIS school and its awesome and all the teachers there are sooooo..... helpful i arnold magnet acadmey! GO RAMS
I am very disappoined with Arnold Middle School. The communication from both staff and teachers is lacking. I do not see teachers going above and beyond, something I would expect of a magnet school. The environment is cold upon entering the school. There is no sense of pride. I regret allowing my child attend this school. We are a military family and there seems to be no concern for military families. Having a parent deployed can be difficult or any child, Arnold does not seem to know how to cope with children of deployed parents. While having a conference with a teacher I was told these are magnet students, more is expected of them. That is wonderful, all students need to be challenged, but this is not college and they still need guidance, displine and encouragement. There are a handful of wonderful teachers at this school, but not enough.
As a proud parent of a current Arnold Middle Schooler and a former student, myself, I am thrilled with the current Administration, faculty and staff. Go Rams!
The school lives up to the Muscogee County mission for schools. The faculty and administration are knowledgeable and professional. Best school in the county.
My daughter chose to attend Arnold Magnet Academy after visiting many schools in Columbus. She felt this school would offer her the best challenge. She has not found much of a challenge but she said that 6th grade was the best year of her school career. I think Muscogee County could make this school even better if they would make it a total magnet and remove students who are not a part of the magnet program. The magnet program could then soar and make Arnold one of top middle schools in the country. The teachers have a dual job of planning for traditional students and magnet students. Imagine if they only had to plan for one population! Wow!
We had to transfer from another Muscogee county school and since we did so, my child has had to start counseling and is now starting medication because of the anxiety due to the staff at Arnold. We are now trying to get transferred back to our old school on the counselor's request. I don't plan on my other children going to that school ever!
We love Arnold. My daughter was in a magnet school for elementary. We didn't know if Arnold would be up to their standards, but the teachers and principal have been wonderful If my daughter had questions about anything they went out of their way to make sure she got the answers. It is challenging work, but that is what we wanted and why we chose the magnet program. With the teachers having the attitude that they are there to teach not just give out assignments my daughter has excelled in school. She absolutely loved Britt David and says Arnold is right up there with them. I would highly reccomend the magnet program to anyone wanting a challenging but fun school. They are always rewarding kids for good behavior and hard work. I have been on field trips, parties, etc. and can tell you these are some well behaved children.
My son could not handle the environment at Arnold. Since he was transfered to a new school he is doing 200% better. My daughter now attends Arnold and she too is suffering from being in that environment. I have tried for two years to get her in another school but I have not been successful. I would recommend that parents look elsewhere for the education of their kids. Arnold works for some but not for all. Don't get locked like I did. Please be sure to check out all schools in the area you are going to live before moving, otherwise you may get stuck with a bad school and no way out.
