Shoal Creek Elementary School is an exceptional school. The new principal is wonderful and really cares about the students. I think he is a great addition to this school. My kids talk about him all the time. The teachers are awesome! Most of them really hold their students to very high expectations and go above and beyond to make sure that all kids succeed!

This has got to be one of the best elementary schools in Conyers. I moved from Massachusetts to Georgia and had very low expectations of their schools. However, at this school my son's fifth grade teachers went out of their way to make sure he did well in his classes and was prepared for standardized tests. His teacher Ms. Bashaw, even stayed after- school to work with him. They went above and beyond.

My son has attended Shoal Creek from k to 5, I would have to say my exsperience has been absolutly awsome. Every teacher my son has had was great. My son has ADHD and his teachers were aware of this, yet they did not give him the opportunity to be a slaker or treat him differently, they stayed on him to make sure he gave a 100% in class, and not use his ADHD as a crutch. I completly appreciate everything his teachers has done. I love the principal, he is so awsome down to earth. I have made numerous unannouced visits to my sons classrooms and has always been welcome with open arms to sit and watch how the teacher interacts with the students. I trully hate to see my son leave Shoal Creek, I wish it was a middle school as well!

I have one child at Shoal Creek. I am overall very pleased with the administrators and the teachers. I am very active in my child's education. My child enjoys going to school. His teacher has high expectations for him behaviorally and academically. At one point I also thought that maybe his teacher was too strict until I volunteered one day. I realized that her(his teacher) dealing with 15 to 20 students was a lot different from me redirecting my one child at home. I then appreciated and admired her for the productive learning environment she had established. I have made several unannounced visits to Shoal Creek and each time I've been very pleased. Parental Involvement- It is what you make it. There are many opportunities for parental involvement.

I have two kids at this school and am generally pleased. One of my kids is a straight A student with no problems and he's doing really well. My other kid is ADHD with low grades and behavioral problems from time to time and his teacher and the school counselor seem powerless to help. They have basically left it all to me with their sympathies. They aren't hateful about it but have obviously washed their hands of it. My straight A student will stay throught but I'm thinking of withdrawing the other one for a private school or maybe homeschooling.

Overall it is a pretty good school, if you don't have a child who is not exactly 'perfect'. Once your child has gotten into trouble once, they are labeled as a problem child and are under the scope from that point forward. Every little incident after that point becomes major, rather that be talking in the hallway or in class. This was our first year, but his teacher this year was wonderful and the PTA President is awesome.

The teachers here at Shoal Creek have a few good selection of teachers. The children sometimes seem to be treated as soldiers than students. The PTA president is wonderful and does her best to invove parents. However, the staff can be lukewarm and teachers a little on edge.
