The teachers at Ficquett are wonderful. Due to ability grouping in most grades the gifted children are taught by gifted certified teachers and get a great education. It does require a great deal of parent involvement both at home and at school. Because of the diverse population sometimes I feel my child is exposed to things that are not age appropriate by other students, never the staff. It is sad that this is one of the older community schools and is so well established but will be phased out over the next 5 years.

Ficquett is a wonderful learning institution with enthusiastic and knowledgeable teachers. The administration and teachers have the willingness and the love to conquer daily challenges. What a difference they have made in my child's life and in the lives of others!

Ficquett is a wonderful and unique school. The staff works very hard!!! There are alot of challenges that face many of them. Unfortunately there are many parents who do not teach their children manners and how to respect others. The teachers are the ones who end up trying to model the appropriate behaviors. There are however some wonderful parents who are willing to offer help and support. There is good turn out for PTO meetings. I know FQ has alot more programs than some of the others because they are older and more established. I don't always feel the staff members are supported by the administration. Teaching is a hard job and many times the principal may take a parents side without listening to what the teacher has done to help their child learn. I am very pleased that my child is at FQ.

I am currently a teacher at FQ and also have a child there. I cannot believe the microscope I am under with our admin. It is the worse feeling ever. I know that I am not alone in my feelings and am sick to have to go to work most days. If it weren't for my little ones that I teach, I don't know if I would still be here. It is not a happy place and as someone below wrote- the administration could careless about anyone but herself. It is not a fun atmosphere for teachers or students.

I am a former employee of Ficquett. The teachers there seem to be open to teaching children with different learning needs. I believe this to be in large part due to the large amount of special education students who are mainstreamed. Staff moral suffered with the changes in administration. The new administration left a bad taste in my mouth. She, for the most part, seemed unapproachable, which is sad.

My child was non verbal when he started school. He has been in the special education department since he started school. It is an excellent school. The best sped. department out of all the elementary schools in Covington. Now he is very independent. I have been very involved with his education thus far. That is what it takes to succeed.

I am a parent of two children that have attended FQ- one is now in middle school and the other is in Pre-K. This year has been exceptional for parent involvement. Our PTO is amazing. Teacher morale is up and this great effects the way that they teach. Discipline is handled in a quick, effective manner. Steps have been taken to ensure a quiet learning environment for the students. The diversity only adds to Ficquett's excellence. It continues to be one of the top schools in Newton County!

Help! I want this to be a great school so bad. I know there are great teachers there, but there are definite problems with parent involvement and school morale. This school exudes a bad vibe of negativity. I have not felt any peace or security since my child started school almost a year ago. Also, I would like to see this school inspire the students with something more than fisher price worksheets. This is an older school that should be rich in community fellowship and history. I would like to see the staff, students, and parents being proud of our little school. Let's work together and make a great school!

I believe the teachers at this school go above and beyond for their students. I know that an ongoing struggle has been with parental support and making sure that parents are involved and held responsible for helping their children with work and providing necessary supplies- due to lack of state funding. Regardless, the teachers do an excellent job of meeting the needs of an extremely diverse group of kids in a growing county where overcrowding is a reality. I am proud to have my children at Ficquett. It is known in the county as one of the top schools- you won't find alot of fluff here- but you will find serious academic achievement!
