Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My son has been a student at HCA for 5 years. We could never say enough about the staff and students at this school. Everything has been beyond our expectations. Our son has a learning disability and was suffering from depression we he started HCA. Since becoming a student his grades went from failing to barely passing, to an A/B student playing on the football team. The teachers worked along side him and us to help him learn to be a successful student and to set goals. I strongly urge you to visit this school, you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful School. Go check it out for yourself and see. Excited about the new campus and athletic fields. Great administration as well. Very responsive to any issues we have had.

I have been very pleased with Horizon Christian Academy. The teachers have been very attentive to my children and I have been happy with both the academic and extra curricular activites provided at HCA. I would recommend anyone thinking of Private School Education go by and meet the administration and staff and see what is going on in the classrooms.

Worst school ever. Took my son out of this nightmare school after 1 1/2 years. I swear he had post-traumatic stress from the way he was treated by a few teachers.

What a school year! I'm a parent with two children at HCA. Great leadership, teachers, and staff. If your looking for an educational partner to raise a college bound Godly child, then this is the place.

I have had my children at Horizon Christian Academy for going on 9 years. I was looking back over the comments from others who have come and gone over the years and it is clear that this school is headed in the right direction. There were problems with administration in the past, but it is evident that God is in control and HCA is stronger than it has been years. We have a college prep curriculum, caring teachers, and an administration that truly cares about the staff and the families that place their children in this school. I have visited many other private schools, and HCA may be smaller, but there is no place that can offer my children what they have received at this school. With one child in her second year at a major university, I am thankful that HCA fully prepared her and gave her the foundation that she needed.

I just came from Breakfast with Administration and I just have to say I am thoroughly pleased with the direction HCA is now going. I appreciate the honesty the new admiration has. While no place is perfect, I do believe that HCA is going to stay true to their mission statement and help partner with families to make world changers for Jesus Christ. My children are care for as an Individual, not just a number. They are thought of not only academically but spiritually, and athletically as well. HCA is seen as a school that gives back and will continue to be a light in the community for years to comes. Keep up the GREAT work.!

Can I just say how blessed I am to have my children (10th and 3rd grade) at Horizon Christian Academy? I just spent time with our Chief Administrator and I feel the best I have ever felt about the future of HCA. God is so faithful and true to His word. The current administration is right on target and is so open and honest with all students, staff and parents. The staff is all in unity as well as the student body. My children are challenged academically (AP classes offered) , encouraged with their spirituality, and are delveloped in their leadership abliitlies. If you are looking for a place where your child will be prayed for and loved then check out HCA.

We have increasingly become disappointed in this school and will be removing our child after this year. We have attended for four years. It has gone from great to poor over these four years. The administration is dishonest, secretive, manipulative and lacking vision. The reputation in the community has been tarnished beyond repair. Enrollment continues to decline as other schools see record numbers.

I would not recommend this school, the school is riddled with problems from administration to teachers , to sports ego's . Please do your due dligence before coming to this school. You will find that most of the teachers do not walk the walk as portrayed. The administration tends to tell parents what they want to hear, but they can't seem to exercise. Looking at other reviews it became apparent that others in the past have been in the same situation. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money to get into a Christian environment with a strong academic curriculum.

I have been so impressed with all the extra-curricular opportunities offered for students. From Spiritual Growth Week to drama productions to athletics, HCA students have a lot of opportunities beyond the nurturing academic environment. My child LOVES this school, and so do we. Refreshingly unique!

As a strong believer in Christ, it is very difficult to to recommend this school to anyone. Too many problems with administration and as some may "say" that all decisions are made through prayer....I heard the talk but did not see the walk. So sorry to say I would NOT recommend this school.

Horizon Christian Academy provides a great environment for learning. My son attended attended this school as a student and I am a staff member. Horizon Christian Academy small class sizes, Christian family atmosphere, and caring instructors are what attracted us to it. HCA is the right size to offer Advanced Placement classes and sports but small enought to know other students and teachers' names.

Administrators in any organization, both secular and Christian, must make decisions that are the best for the entire student body and families. I know that decisions by administrators at HCA are made after thorough due diligence and girded in fervent prayer. As a parent, I find it sad that harmful comments would be made without having the knowledge and facts that admin and board members are privy to. HCA is academically rigorous and focuses on the development of the whole child. More importantly, Christ is at the center of all things.

HCA s athletics program is award-winning in volleyball, basketball, soccer, and baseball. Students have many opportunities in the fine arts. Students are busy preparing for both a spring concert, in addition to a musical that will be performed by students in grades K-6. Spiritual growth is focused on at the beginning of each school year, again for a week in February, and throughout the year via service to the community, daily devotions and bible classes, and weekly chapel services. Lots of opportunity for individual growth!!!

My child enrolled in Kindergarten this year. This school has been such a blessing to my kindergartener as well as my family. If you are deciding on a school for your children, check out HCA. I have only experienced amazing things. My 6 year old is reading 1st- 3rd grade material since enrolling at HCA. The staff and administration are loving and supportive toward students and families. I am thankful to be a part of this amazing school!

The name of the school is Horizon Christian Academy. I was dismayed at the behavior of Administration in this school. The "behind the scene" activities, lack of professionalism and substandard academics resulted in my decision to remove my child from this environment. It is very sad that this school could be a center of excellence and a light house for Christ instead of a stumbling block for others. I would not recommend this school!

Very disappointed with Horizon Christian Academy. Some othe teachers were loving and considerate but the administration was VERY poor. I was very disturbed by the lack of Christ like behavior in a school that was supposed to be "Christian". I would NEVER recommend this school.

There were a few things about this school that are positive but very few. Administration of the school is very poor and the headmaster is pathetic at best. Many things going on behind the scene leads one to believe that the school is actually run by two or three families with the "deepest pockets". The title of the school Is Horizon Christian Academy but I saw nothing Christlike in my observations. Glad to have my grandson out of that environment!

Horizon Christian Academy is a wonderful place to work. It is an environment where your peers become like family. These family members will lift you up in prayer daily, listen carefully and bring laughter into your life.

Our family has been at Horizon Christian Academy for 8 years. We chose HCA because it gave us the best sense of a family atmosphere. Since coming to HCA our school has doubled in size, but has maintained the family atmosphere. Another key factor in keeping us at HCA has been the one size does not fit all approach to teaching and administrating of the school. We have children with different needs and gifts, and have been amazed at how Horizon has been able to meet the needs of each of our children. Teachers truly care about my children and make that evident in how they work with them. They are always availabile to the students and parents. orizon does a good job of preparing students for college.. The Advanced Placement offerings have expanded greatly over the last five years and students are encouraged to take these classes. With parent input and student involvement the best class schedule for each student is devised and set in place. Our daughter is currently, made the Dean s list her first year, is currently trending with a 3.8 college GPA and has been invited to join the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.

I highly recommend HCA, the staff and academics! We have been part of the HCA community for 8 years. The staff has been incredible. In public school, my children were a "number" who easily got lost in the system. At Horizon, the teachers know each of the students and how he/she learns best. They teach to the child's ability and the children SHINE!! The Athletics program is very impressive for a school of this size. There are multiple State Championships won. They offer every sport my children have been interested in.

I attended this school my senior year and had a terrible experience. Lack of any competitive sports (except a really nice basketball program), clubs, or fine arts at the school. Though the staff is dedicated, the classes and teachers are second-rate. Not a real campus but is actually a pre-existing church. Some may like this because the school is extremely focused on the religious aspect of the student. Very small student body (for the high school atleast). felt like i was going to elementary school all over again. Many "behind closed doors" issues in the faculty lead to many distractions in the class room (teachers were fired mid-year and even the principal was dismissed!). To sum up the school seemed to be shaky itself and i wonder to this day how it got its accreditation. look somewhere else if you care for your kid

I have one student that graduated from HCA and is attending Georgia Tech where he is very successful. My second child is a Senior in 2012 and loves her school where the staff are outstanding and care so much about the total student. There are a variety of extracurricular activities to keep your student busy in the downtime and plenty of academic challenge. I highly recommend HCA.

We recently took both of our children out of this school. The teachers are second-rate and teach here because they can't get a job in the public schools. Principals are even worse. Don't send your kids here if you care about their education.

We have been thoroughly disappointed in this school and have removed our child from the school due to: poor academics, dishonesty by teachers and administrators to parents, and the fact that the administrators have the viewpoint that "teachers NEVER make mistakes". When parents take a concern to the admin, the admin immediately backs the staff and disregards the parent's concerns. It is sad, but true. Our child is behind academically because of the lack of challenging work provided to him at HCA.

I took my kids out of this school after 1 1/2 years. The education was terrible and the 'christian' part was worse. They need to practice what they preach. They have a new principal so maybe they can change direction. If you value a good education, so they are prepared for life and college, please don't send your kids here.

This school has been a tremendous blessing to my family. My children have learned more here than any where they have been. The spiritual guidance and love shown to my kids echos that of Christ himself. This ministry is a light in the Cumming community and has helped so many in need with it's dedication to serving as Christ came to do. The teachers are loving encouraging leaders. They truly care deeply about my children and family. They have gone above and beyond what I have expected from them. They continue to inspire my kids. They make learning fun and exciting. My children love school. I highly reccomend you research this ministry also look into the Georgia student scholarship Tax credit it has helped pay my childs tuition for the year. The admissions department can direct you to people that can help you through this process it is well worth it.

We love HCA. I took my children out of FC public schools because of class size. They weren't being challenged academically and I wanted a smaller teacher ratio. HCA has been wonderful. They take the time to work with individual students and push them forward.

HCA has been amazing for my children! I have a child in elementary and a child in high school level at HCA. My youngest has been allowed academically to work at a higher level than average for her grade while maintaining normal social development for her age. My oldest is in his second year and is growing academically, physically and socially. He has tried new things and welcomed into the school with ease. Their focus on serving others has helped both my children in their spiritual walk as well.

Very poor academically. Many of the teachers are not in their area of knowledge and education. When our children transferred to public school, they were behind and found the public school environment to be much more challenging academically. HCA may become a viable school but we simply would not reccomend it.

We LOVE HCA! It has been a tremendous blessing to us and our daugheter. She is now in 2nd grade and started there in kindergarten. The teachers are incredibly loving and supportive. The best part, I feel, is that they truly make the learning experience a fun one...where the children WANT to learn. The school on a whole ranks high in their academics, based on national test scores. They are well developed programs for the students also in Spanish, Art, Music, P.E., Computer Technology, Chapel, and Library time. I recommend this school to everyone I know and meet. Check us out! You will be impressed.

This school has been a great experience for my daughters. We came to Horizon in 2004 when my oldest was entering the 7th grade. We have had children in the Elementary, Middle and now High School grades. We have been extremely pleased with all aspects of the school. Academically, we feel our children are challenged and yet allowed to learn on their own levels. Each child is worked with individually to develop that student into the best student that he or she can be. The school also focuses on the Spiritual well being of its students and encourages community involment. The sports programs for us are adequate and keep our girls active. As with any school, parental involvement is encouraged and typically parents stay active in the school as well.

My daughter is in 1st grade at HCA and so far we have been very pleased. Although sometimes the environment is a little strict, positive reinforcement is always encouraged. Academics are well above average and class size is small. My daughter has 11 students in her class.
