I have 3 children that attend Chapel Hill High School. In the 2 plus years that I have been dealing with Chapel Hill I feel the School transitions very quickly. I mean that in a good and bad way. There Teachers have changed quite a bit in a short time but overall the quality of teaching hasn't transitioned much which is good. They are pretty decent in calling but for some reason as many times as my Wife and I have updated the phone numbers they keep dialing the wrong numbers. My oldest son which has been a challenge to deal with because of his temper and don't care attitude at times has clearly reached the threshold with teachers and administration and yes it surely shows. As for the other two the have had a pretty enjoyable time while it lasted due to the rezoning of properties around the area my kids have been forced to attend a new school known as Manchester. At this point I would not even bother to vent about the issue because at the end of the day it might actually be a good thing that happened at a strange time. To end this review I will say there are many others to chose from do extensive research.

This is our family's first year in Douglasville. we are African-Americans that moved here from New York and we adore Douglasville. Our family comes from a long line of educated individuals and we were empressed with the educational curriculum at CCHS and it's fully engaged teaching staff. the programs at CHHS are phenomenal and are focused on the "whole child". The strict discipline provide the structure our children need in high school. What a great school!

This is similar to the experience we had with our son. We didn't know he was failing until late in the term. The teacher I referred to in my posting dated 4/29/09 was failing to input grades into the Portal system which when used correctly is an excellent tool for parents. However, when you have a teacher that is too busy to do her job (she actually told the class she had better things to do) and a principal that backs his teacher regardless of the facts then it is of no use. When she did post grades, many times they were inaccurate. My son had work returned to him which had been graded yet she had input a zero into Portal. I can only hope that with enough complaints about this teacher that the principal will finally have to face facts and discipline her.

We moved here this yr and the research my husband did, didn't add up to the end results. The teacher had very poor communication skills, which contributed to a failing grade. To the best of my knowledge the teacher wasn't disciplined. We sent emails, called and visited the school! They had bridges (tutoring) and said that he couldn't join because his grade at the time wasn't failing. But on his progress report and online history, he was failing. They denied our child the right to pass the class. He had a lot of missing work! Was told he could go to tutoring but he couldn't participate with the tutoring class! That's like your invited to a party but you cant sit at the table with the other kids, you have to sit facing the wall and you cant play either. After reading the reviews, involving the higher ups wouldn't make a differance.

I would like to start off by addressing some of the reviews, I have two children attending CHHS one is a sophmore and one a junior as far as fights breaking out in school and the administration not handling them they are handling them in my opinion to the best of their ability, maybe we as parents should stop blaming the school system for fights/our childrens behavior for it is all of us as parents that are responsible for raising our children and seeing to it they respect others. I feel the curriculum is set by the county to challange all children not just AP now I do have to admit my junior is taking honor's classes but her regular classes are just as challanging. If you feel your child isn't challange then get involved and have his/her classes changed to more challenging ones.

My oldest is a Senior at CHHS and I also have a freshman this year. My children haven't encountered any problems other than the normal that go on at every other school. If your child is interested in learing then CHHS is a great place for them to do so. My children are both honors students who excel in and out of the classroom. If you check the test scores, CHHS is in 1st place in our county. The middle school (CHMS) is also in 1st place in test scores, despite our diversity. I think it is the best school for grades, diversity, and sports in the whole county!!

Excellent school. Alot of people think it isn't just because we have more blacks than Alexander, but our diversity hasn't hurt our test scores....which are #1 in the county!! Also our sports teams & individuals have the most state titles of all the schools in the county...ever!! Way to go CHHS..keep it up! My children love it there and have been there for 4 years now!

In the past, this school was the best in the area. Now, violence and student behavior is out of control. They have lost many of their top notch teachers.
