Our daughter started Kindergarten this year and we are extremely pleased with her teacher, the administration staff and the curriculum. We are not 'overly involved' parents, but we monitor what she is doing on a daily basis. The teacher provides daily feedback and we receive emails several times a week with reminders or notifications. The PE, art and music programs are very well run and our daughter comes home excited to tell us all the things she did during the day.

overall a good school, but not all of the teachers are good. this year my child has a great teacher, last year that wasn't the case. i can't speak for most teachers, but i can say that there are caring people within the staff of this school. stay involved so that you these individuals, and so you can identify which ones aren't, so that the ones that are not, will be motivated to be.

I've got two children enrolled at NMES - a third grader and a Kindergarten student. I am very happy with our experience and hope that if you are reading this, you will at least visit the school and see for yourself what it's like. As a public school, NMES teaches the curriculum mandated by the State of Georgia. While some other Douglas County elementary schools are not meeting AYP, New Manchester has made Adequate Yearly Progress every year since it opened its doors. Students are held to a high standard, academically and personally. The administration and teachers have an excellent system of rewards for students who meet or exceed those expectations. From the top administrator down, every person in that school understands that it is his/her responsibility to provide a quality education to every child who walks through the door. I am proud to say my children attend NMES.

My children had attended this school last year and it had made them fall behind the next year at another very good school and it has been a challenge for them this year. I had to get them extra tutoring on the side to catch them up. They did absolutely no prep at all for crct none. This is not a good school at all comparing to a 10 out of 10 school huge difference. I would not reccommend this school to anyone.

This school is disappointing to say the least. Most of the teachers don't care, & the administration refuses to acknowledge there's a problem with the learning environment. From my experience, they only welcome parents into the school as long as you don't voice any concerns. If you choose to voice an unwelcome opinion be prepared for an openly rude response from the teachers who are supported by an even more rude and dismissive administration. They only hold PTA meetings when they need the parent members to approve the budget. There are no field trips nor special events for the children. The test scores are atrocious & yet the administration/teachers continue to congratulate themselves for a job well done. NMES is nothing more than a glorified daycare.

As a parent of a first time K5 student I am just thrilled at the progress my child is making at NMES. My child is reading well above grade level and is doing equally as well in math. The structured class time and discipline used to keep my little one on track has influenced my whole family in a very positive way at home also. Having a team like this to work with keeps me in touch with progress in the classroom and gives me new ways to mix learning into our nightly activities at home. I'm already looking forward to 1st grade even though we still have more weeks left in this year. Thanks to all the K5 teachers for your dedication to the newcomers of NMES. You are doing a wonderful job and my child is loving school because of you!

I origin posted last year around this time, and gave this school a favorable review. This is not the case this time around. Teachers are too concerned with sight words and altitude test to teach the kinds how to read. The administration always seems to hint that you as a parent should be doing more to edcuate your child. When do we hold accountable the administration and teachers that get paid to teach to do their jobs. My child is in a class with 2 part time teachers and i believe that he is suffering from this. There's an old professional football saying that goes, 'when you have 2 quaterbacks running a team, then you really have none' I believe that this is the case with my sons classroom, and thus steps that should be taken to ensure that my son is learning are not taken.

I concur with the gross majority of the parent-reviews. This school does NOT put the needs of the students' first. The teachers are not teaching to the fullest, thus the students are not learning. My husband and I volunteered weekly. The teachers complain about parental involvement--NOT TRUE. I think the teachers realized that there was a communication problem so now they try to overly communicate minute things, e.g. 'Sue blurted out today, but was good.' My concerns lie with the academic achievements and progress which is evident through NMES test scores. The teachers are NOT teaching to the fullest.

After relocating to Douglas County because of the many good things that we have heard about the school system, we enrolled our son into NMES. This is my son's first year at the school and I an not at all satisfiyed with the school, the performance or the teachers, or the adminstration! During my first encounter with my son's teacher at open-house, she began to complain about the lack of parental involvement. So, I quickly signed up to assist in the classroom. My husband started off helping out in the classroom weekly, only to be requested to not help out in her classroom but to instead assist another teacher. This infuriated me! From my experience, the school does not aspire to meet the needs of its students. My son will not be going to NMES next year!

This is my sons first year (hes in K) at NMES and we are very HAPPY with the school & staff. When I attended the parent-teacher conference earlier in the year not only was my son's teacher concerned but also the principal. When I did attend all of them (teacher, VP) spend alot of time with me, well over an hour. Gave me different ideas on how to work on some problem areas with my son. When ever I have had questions regarding my son, I would write a note to the teacher or call her & she is very prompt to get back to me. When I just attended the current Parent-Teacher conference, I was told by his teacher that my son made a complete 180 turn for the better. So based on my experience so far my husband and I are very happy with this school and staff.
