I've had my kids at Arbor Station for 2 years now, and I'm sad to say we are moving again and have to switch schools. I LOVE this school as well as the teachers. Everyone is very involved, our teachers are awesome and seem to always go above and beyond what they are "paid" to do. Love, love, love this school!
My daughter started 3rd grade at ASES this year and I am thrilled! She is happy and excited to go to school, her teacher is outstanding and really challenges her. The teachers are superdedicated, the parents I have met are all very involved in the success of the school. I know my child is getting a great education and my other young children will be attending Arbor Station as well.
I AM A GRANDPARENT AND AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE EDUCATION AND CARE MY GRANDCHILDREN ARE RECEIVING AT ARBOR STATION.THE OLDEST LEFT ASES TO GO TO MIDDLE SCHOOL AND WAS WELL PREPARED FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL. THREE MORE GRANDSONS ARE STILL ATTENDING THIS SCHOO. THEY LOVE SCHOOL AND THE STAFF WORKS WITH THE PARENTS. I GIVE THIS SCHOOL FIVE STARS.
I'm amazed at the reviews saying parents aren't welcome here. My 2 older children attended Arbor Station for 4th & 5th grades and my 2 youngest started here in kindergarten and now in the 4th & 5th grades. In our experience this is a dream school! Every teacher has always been extremely grateful for any help offered. And I love how involved the whole school staff is with the kids. The teachers seem to know all the kids, not just the ones in their class or grade. By the time my daughter reached 5th grade she had known her teacher for years & wasn't nervous at all. I know for me & my family we could never find a school as wonderful as this one. Dana Richards
We have a fifth and first grader that attend ASES. Arbor Station is such a great school! The teachers are wonderful....very caring! The parents are very involved with the school.
I've never seen a school with such leadership and love and support for the children involved!! It goes WAY beyond a "job" for the staff at Arbor Station.....it is a PASSION to see these students succeed!!!
I have three children at ASES and this is our 6th year at the school. We love it! All of my children want to go to school and look forward to seeing their teachers and friends. There is great parent involvement and the teachers and staff are awesome! Our principal ROCKS!
ASES has the best team of teachers out there. On a daily basis you can see the progress the kids are making and they look forward to going to school everyday.
My twins are always excited to go to school they absolutely love their teachers (homeroom and electives). Both their homeroom teachers take time to communicate either via notes, email or phone which creates an optimal 'parent-teacher' relationship. We can identify issues before they become problems and work on strategies to maximize the educational experience.
Both my daughter and my son wake up every morning excited to go to school!
They are very involved! They stay in touch with all the parents and go to great lengths to build school spirit!
I love Arbor Station because everyone cares about what is best for children and their learning. Our daily motto 'Be good---Do what your teacher says--- and learn something new!' What is better than that????
I love Arbor Station Elementary. The staff is pleasant and professional. They have the kids best interest at heart. Although the schools test scores are lower than I would like, I believe that education is the job of the school and parent. Great Job Arbor Station!!!
Re comment 2/28/09, your stating about treated differently & your child if you complain seems to be widely practiced in the Douglas County School System. My daughter is at Eastside & same thing, principal is horrible, bad attitude, supports teachers & dismisses parents, school board refuses to address issues, school overcrowded. One parent said get involved don't sulk & complain on a post, this is the purpose of this site, to inform other parents of actual experiences. These are children & parents aren't always there to protect them, our tax dollars pay for this and kids are affected often negatively. Parents don't have a voice because school board supports the schools, not the parents. I'm looking for an alternative to move my child, but I'm disheartened about what I've seen & dont' think the public school system is going to work at all yet they will keep my tax dollars
Our daughter is now in her second year at ASES. We were hesitant to try public schools but have been very pleased with this school and its administration. It's very well organized, the administration and staff are very professional/approachable and the parents are involved and friendly. My daughter's current teacher is outstanding. I can't imagine finding another teacher we would be more pleased with!
I am involved in the PTSO, so am up at the school frequently. I am very happy with the staff at the school. My children excel and are both in the gifted program without any prompting from me. My children are happy and are doing well, which is an indicator of who good the school does. Most of our parents are involved and help out. The best way to improve schools are to be involved, not complain on a website and sulk!
After 5 years as an ASES parent, I can tell you that all of the teachers are highly qualified and most of them are putting in countless hours to do the best that they can for our children each day. The administrators do an amazing job and are very approachable! I am up at the school often and have never noticed any signs of favoritism. The administration, teachers, staff, and PTSO give ample opportunities for parents to have a voice. However, having a voice doesn't always mean that you get your way (Example: Presidential Elections). There are various fundraisers throughout the year, but you can pick and choose what you want to participate in (or not participate at all). There are many things that the county/state does not pay for. The money that is raised goes directly to paying for supplies, activities, and events for the students/teachers.
My child attended ASES for five years. Majority of the teachers were great but some were terrible. The leadership is terrible also. There is so much favoritism at this school. The teacher kids receive special treatment at this school. The principle has put her needs before the children needs many times with promoting staff without have qualified replacements. I strongly believe that the grading system was changed this year because of the lack of some of the teachers ability to teach the children sufficiently. There have been many children that grades have suffered related to the unqualified staff but instead of fixing the problem they changed the grading system thinking parents would not recognize the difference. Please do not complain because the leadership is so unprofessional they treat you different and also your children different. Money from parents is all they want. Parents have no voice.
Administration is more interested in keeping children on grade level than allowing them to excell. All you hear about it the CRCT all year long.
