Through my experience in this school it has been nothing but a total nightmare for me. The staff and counselors were nothing but mostly unsupportive The only thing I liked were half days and that's it.I felt like the first month I was here I wanted to leave immediately. Also the first day in grade seven I wasv picked on.I hope this school improves over the years.
I think Chestnut Log is overall a good school. I have been very pleased with the teachers, not so much with the principal. There is serious room for improvement with communication and improving academics for all students. I have lots of reservations about this school early on but the teachers have really changed my view. My son has grown academically very well. The teachers also have a very good reputation in the county for preparing the students for programs like IB and regular high school. Thanks to the teachers!
Our school is struggling and we all need to pull together to let our kids know just bcs they are in middle school, we haven't forgotten about them or the fact that they still need us . Let's all pull together and make our schools safe and let's be proud to send our children there each day . Let's help them succeed and prosper for the years they have ahead of them.
This school will be where my grandchildren will attend. Looking forward to being involved in the daily activities.
The Write Night is a great program. I think it provides everything the students will need to be successful in writing/creating there papers. This technique should be encourage nationwide to assist other student who struggle with writing.
Chestnut Log has done a good job of responding to my needs and requests as a parent when I have concerns regarding my son's academics. His teachers are awesome and have gone above and beyond the call of duty to assure me that they value his success in school as much as I do. While Chestnut Log wasn't my first choice of a middle school for my son, I have been pleasantly surprised as the quality staff and attention that is given to my student and his academics. The parent involvement nights, as well as the Champs afterschool enrichment program has really helped both me and my son and given him the confidence and assurance that he needs in order to achieve success in school.
I love this school. More parents need to get involved in helping not fussing. Great staff. They all work hard to help the kids. Love the PTSA they fo beyond the call of duty for everyone. Need more schools like this one
My son is in 6th grade and since day one he has been bullied.he even got stabbed in the arm with a pencil.the boy who done it only got I.S.S for maybe 3 days.several of the teachers are mean to the kids and when a kid thats bein bullied tries to tell a teacher the teacher doesnt listen or doesnt do any thing about it.I HATE THIS SCHOOL!EVERY THING ABOUT IT IS AWFUL!! The kids dont even hardly mind the bus drivers .
They don't know how to work with a special kids. The principal don't like to talk with the parent. Really bad experience!!
Have had 4 children at CLMS. No real complaints about the teaching but the theft issue is unreal. My children have had cell phones, multiple agendas, countless notebooks and even lunches stolen. Where are the teachers when kids are stealing everything that isn't nailed down?
My child was a student there in the 6th grade. She attended her 7th grade year at Factory shoals which was a disaster. I chose to move back in the district of Chestnut Log because there she was not getting in trouble, the teachers called if they were concerned about assignments or lack of trying on my child part. I love that school and the teachers. Dr. keith is a wonderful principle if I didn't feel this school was not up to the challenge of preparing my child for her future I wouldn't have allowed my son to start there this year. There is no person that walks this earth to be perfect so we shouldn't as a community to expect every school to be. Instead of dogging the school get more involved or do as I did and move where you feel comfortable for you and your child.
Dr Keith has gotten herself caught up in the grandeur of her glorified position. She runs this school as if it a juvenile detention center and she is a warden. The children are treated in a substandard manner that needs to be changed. If the children are treated as if they are juvenile diliquents they will become juvenile delinquents. And parents are wondering why the drop out rate is so high.... Get INVOLVED no matter where your child attends school. This place needs to be gutted and start over.
Chestnut log middle school is one of the most disorganized schools i've ever seen. The prinicipal don't care about what the teachers are doing, much less the students. Dr. Keith the prinicipal brings her dog to school everyday and has the students walk her dog.... HELLO this is a school for people, not a darn doggy daycare. sorry had to get some of this off my chest. Hope everyone has a good day.
This school is fantastic and the teachers deserve more props and respect from students and staff
I've noticed that post shown are from previous years. I wanted to offer my opinion of Chestnut Log in a more recent voice. I've had several problems with Chestnut Log. We are new to the area and my son completed the 8th grade last year and I now have a 7th grader attending. I've had to make several calls concerning grades to inappropriate teacher behavior. I just feel stressed. The school year has only just began and I'm already had it with this school. I was embarassed when told by a friend that parents usually enter their kids into 'private' school if zoned for Chestnut Log. For us, that is not an option. In my opinion this is in direct protryal of the leadership of Chestnut Log by Dr. Kieth who is more concerned with her current hairstyle than the activities at her school.
This school is awful, if I had a choice my child would surely not be in this school.
My son is entering his second year at chestnut log middle school and he likes it. Last year he had a couple of problems with bullies, but after taking them to the principal they were taken care of to my satisfaction.Every school no matter how good or bad will have a few bad apples.Over all CLMS is a good school and if i had to choose all over again to send my son there again I would.
I think that this school has the best staff of any around this county. If i have to have a answer about anything they work with me untill it is answered. Think you all for ypur help.
This school is #1. I wouldn't want my child @ any other school. We are criticized about education but win 1st place academic competitions against other schools. The Principal & staff are amazing & go the extra mile as if my child were their own. Stay after school & spend their weekends supporting our children w/o pay because they care. They spend the budget on our kids not chairs, new breakrooms & sound systems. They have so many clubs & support teams. If your child cannot succeed here then you need to look at other issues because they work hard for every child. Parents need to take more responsibility in their children's education. The school can provide all the resources & support in the world but cannot force our children to use them. It takes a village to raise a child & I'm honored Chestnut Log is part of mine.
My child goes to this school and he likes it there. I only had a few problems this past year and when I went to the school and talked to someone the problems where addressed. I think the principal is great, and so is the staff. My only wish for this school is that the children in 6th grade band took it more serious for the students that do care. My child is looking forward to the 7th grade and being able to get more involved in school activites. Way to go CLMS. You rock.
