Teacher quality
Principal leadership
Parent involvement
I am extremely happy that I decided to enroll my child at Romar Academy. They have an extraordinary academic and extracurricular program at very affordable rates. The school is small so every adult knows and looks out for my child. My daughter is excited about school and has excelled here. While they may not have all of the fancy bells and whistles of some other private schools, they have correctly placed their emphasis on a quality accelerated curriculum balanced with healthy child development in a nurturing environment. In addition to regular classroom academics, all levels have computer instruction along with using I-Pads and take foreign language class.
As a parent I know the challenge to find a great school that invovles great learning as well as a family atmosphere. Well I took a chance and I am grateful to find such an outstanding school. All of the teachers including staff really get to know the students. The teachers are warm and passionate about thier jobs. Again I am thrilled to have my son attend Romar and look forward for many great things to come!
Romar is an excellent school. We've recently upgraded our computer lab and will be installing Smartboards and getting an IPAD library. Its challanging and requires parent involvement. It has a family atmosphere with many extracurricular activities.
Romar has one of the best cultures that I've seen. All of the kids know each other, even the older kids in 5th and 6th grades know the kids in Pre-K. The students encourage each other and have an innocence that you simply don't see in most other schools. No bullying or teasing, just friendship and support of each other. My oldest child gets upset if I pick him up from school before 5:30 because he enjoys being there so much. The parents are very involved and the family atmosphere is one of kind. I feel that my children are being challenged academically and ITBS scores prove it. Paying for private school is tough, but tuition at Romar is a bargain for what you get. The administration has listened to any concerns that I have brought to their attention and made an honest effort to address them. The school could use more funding, but their active PTA continues to raise funds to supplement their needs. I have visited upwards of 20 elementary schools around SW Atlanta, South Fulton County, and South/Southwest/West/Northwest of I-285 and this was by far the best fit for my children.
Romar is a blessing. I have two children there who are thriving and love to go to school in the morning. The early years program is awesome and challenging!
Romar Academy is the best kept secret in the Atlanta area. The small class size allows the excellent teachers to teach basic concepts in a nurturing envirornment. The PTA is one of the best in the Atlanta area and gearing up for a Fall Mixer and Holiday Toy exchange program. I recently attended the Fall Carnival and it was like attending a real live Home Coming: awesome! This private education setting is second to none.
Well seems like either Romar was listneing to the parents or they had enough of the administration thmesleves to make the decision to part ways with the previous director/staff. Welcome back family envioronment! Welcome back Romar!
I have sent 2 of my children to Romar and was pleased with the education, the community and the committed teaches.
Romar is an excellent choice for my children. It is one of the few accredited elementary institutions where parental support of excellence is highly encouraged. This year there are so many academic enlightning programs for the students. I am just amazed about the excellent test scores, exposure and guidance. This year Romar Goes Green campaign will help our children understand the importance of being an environmental safe country.
It kills me to see all of the negative comments about Romar Academy. My daughter has been at Romar since she was two and my son will be there this year for PK2. Most of the negative comments are about the director. My daughter has been reading since she was three years old and her entire kindergarten class scored higher than 98% of kindergartener s nation wide (mine scored in the 99th %). So if you want to base your decision off of something, use the numbers and not the personality clashes.
My children have attended Romar for the last three years. My Kindergartener has been reading since Pre-K3. He knew all of his phonics sounds in preK2. My two year old did not talk and was not potty trained at the beginning of the school year, but Mrs Knight and Mrs Saffold have worked miracles. He is talking, potty trained, well adjusted, knows all of his phonics sounds, can count to 60, and passes all of his quizses, yes I said quizzes. They really teach your children great fundementals of education and life. I believe the teaching staff at Romar Academy are the greatest asset to the school and my children.
Had the potental to be a top school. Administration not focused of academic and a bit too much drama for me. This will be my last year!
I started my child at Romar this year inspite of all the bad rumors I had heard & read. I thought I would give the school a try for myself. While the teachers are exceptionally well, outgoing, & dedicated to the children, the Director has lack of professionalism, charisma, & passion for the children. If the teachers were not already motivated & enthusatic, she would not be a good lead for them to follow. It seems that the director operates on a buddy system. No issues are handled unless you present them multiple times. The director is out of reach for the contact or questions because she is always busy, not in the office, or 'meeting with a parent' when you call. This school year is one that I can truly say I'm glad is almost over. I would not recommend Romar Academy to anyone, it's a good school gone.
We Love Romar! My daughter has attended Romar Academy for the past 3 years and the actual education and care they have taken of my child has yet to disappoint me. The students that attend are great, the teachers are caring, the parents are involved and the atmosphere is happy. Yes, Romar has absolutely changed, and will continue to change (I suspect), but I really believe that those future changes will be for the better. Romar is without a doubt still a great school.
I have been a Romar parent for 11 years. Our oldest is currently a high school honor role student. He attended Romar from Pre-K3 through fifth grade. We have two students at Romar in Kindergarten and Pre-K3. Both have excelled and continue to progress. In comparing our curriculum to that of their peers at other schools, it is apparent that Romar is way away ahead of the curve. My son has had daily homework since he was in Pre K-3 and by the end of that year was reading Kindergarten level reading books. The textbooks used in Pre K-4 (yes textbooks) were Kindergarten books. I feel that if I moved my children from the school they would be bored in another academic setting. Yes there have been changes in the past year, however, I have not experienced the negative reactions from Mrs. Nash. I highly recommend Romar.
I have taught at Romar Academy for several years. In the past the teacher were dedicated to the quality of education, loyal to the ownership, and focused on the children. With the current changes in administration and lack of funds it is hard to focus on the most important aspect- the education of the students.
My son has attended Romar for the last three years and I am worried about whether we will make it through the end of this school year. While the teachers we've had have been wonderful, I would not recommend this school. There is no longer an atmosphere of nuturing and leadership is unresponsive.
My child attended Romar for 3 years. This year, we moved to another school. This past school year was challenging, but not for the good. There was a change in leadership and for the families that had been there for years, the change was immediately noticed. Being open to transition, I waited and watched. This past summer enrollment was the lowest I had ever witnessed. My family continued to try and hang in with Romar, however there is too much wrong or of high concern. This is indeed not the school it use to be.
As a new parent at romar academy this year 2007, today was the first day. It was not good! can I say, I am willing to loose the mony I have invested. New parents, please, please, please, check this school before you enroll. The school is not what administration is telling you. I have two children pre-k4 (no teacher) and a 4th grader (combined with 5th). The teachers are not happy and afaid to answer your questions. The answers to everything is check with the front office. I dont know what the school use to be. But today it is not a 'nurturing environment.'
