I am current first year parent and have learned that the reviews about the inefficiency at this school are accurate. The administrative staff are never available, it takes an act of congress to meet with the principal or assistant principal. The administration are always away from the school. Several teachers are unqualified to teach and can't teach, yet they hold teacher titles in key subjects like Math. One of the front office personal are extremely rude and non professional. The school also finds creative ways to penalize the students for youthful occurence, but have yet to be that creative with enhancing and expanding the learning environment. The strain of parent participation I believe is preempted by the negative experiences with administration and staff. The staff especially Ms. Nelson considers themselves leading the school by their unnecessary penitentiary style leadership. I feel the staff is here just for a paycheck not to nurture, educate, encourage, or enhance the students. I have never experienced such negative effects of a school environment until I enrolled my scholar into this school. This school should be one used on the school to prison pipeline referendum.
I went to this school for a year and a half before I moved to a much better school in California. This school was very terrible. I was one of the advanced students and I was on the "MAT" team. All of the "smart" kids like me were separated from the rest of the 8th graders. The staff is rude and unnecessarily strict and very quick to judge. The only reason I enjoyed school is because I was a cheerleader, which was quite awesome. I do not recommend this school.
Parents please, I beg you expore all your options before sending your child to this school. It will be a negative impact on your child. Too much wrong to go into detail. It begins with who is in charge and works down. There are some good teachers but not nearly enought to compensate for all of the other poor and lacking areas. I have NEVER been this displeased in any school with my children.
I experienced one year at Renaissance Middle School, which was enough time for me to form an opinion on quality and leadership. Parents, students, and teachers lacked genuin and dependable leadership from the principle. Most days, she was away from school and school problems. Conflicts were delegated rather than handled by her. She implemented programs/expectation, yet, never enforced works to ensure success. Teachers transition out like they changed socks, often. Class instruction was neither innovative nor creative. Teachers didn't assign homework. Kids were not adequately prepared for the Sate's standardized test though the curriculum was test targeted. The school failed to met the Annual Yearly Progress (AYP). Some teachers, front office staff, and dean of students carried out thier duties with anger and incompentent. Other teachers were professionally qualified. Unfortunately, students self discipline was always a problem.
I am an educator of over 12 years and a mother of 4. My daughter has blossomed attending Renaissance... despite a few obstacles and issues. The leadership has changed and I am very excited about that as I feel the previous administrator, Mr. Weathers, was unconcerned and unavailable to his students and their parents. The teachers overall are really good. They have on several occasions reached out to me and to my daughter when she was having a rough time ( as middle schoolers often do). Her tests scores and grades are reflective of good instruction, her hard work, and my work as a parent to help, monitor, and insure her success.
I attend this school, I am on the 8-B team. I feel that the teachers in this school are short tempered. However, the teaching is extremely effective. They are hard workers and deserve there credit for that much...
This school's disorganized and I don't believe my child is getting a quality education so I must say I'm very disspointed with it. I really didn't want to sent my son to Bear Creek because of so mary negative refferals, so I was very exited about this new schhol right in time for my six grader ( he's been attending Renaissance for two years now but I will definetely relocate him this coming school year. The admin. team are very friendly and make you I feel welcomed, and they're willing to help but the area of education is what concerns me the most and the lack of leadership from Mr Whathers. This school has a unifom code which maybe 2% are for it at the most , I walk in and out of there and see very few students wearing it. I spend well over $200 worth of uniform for my
This school is well organized and I believe the students come first.
My son attends Renaissance Middle and I am very disappointed with the administration. I never see or hear from Mr. Weathers unless it's in a PTSA meeting when he gets to stands in front of a group. I've emailed him with problems seem to plauge this school but I never get a response. I wish I could afford private school. I think I'll look in to homeschooling or this Virtural Academy.
This school is very unorganized and the kids are very unfriendly and rude. New students aren't informed of anything. They send thier students to ISS(in-school suspension) too often for long periods of time.
My child attended this school for the past two years. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of parental support, poor administration, and discipline. It seemed like the rules changed daily according to my child. When I went up to the school, the principal, Mr. Weathers was rarely present or visible. I will be transferring my child to a private school in the community. What a waste of a new school! I had such high hopes. If you're considering moving to this area for this school-think again.
two of my children attended this school last year and i am very disappointed in the adminstration. There were a lot of policies that were not enforced. There are too many students in each classroom and the teachers are forced to spend the majority of instructional time getting the children to behave.
The classroom class size is about 30 students. Many of the children misbehave. The teacher's were passing my son along not ensuring that he was learning anything. If possible don't move to this area. Go ahead and move down the road to fayette county.
My daughter attends this middle school and I must say I am very disappointed. Some of her teachers are extremely rude and they don't care about the children who are willing to learn. My daughter was out sick for 3 days, and when she asked her teacher for the classwork/homework 3 times she kept putting her off. When I spoke with the teacher about this she had an attitude with me!!! I am totally, totally disappointed. Overall my child has always maintained to keep an 'A' average the entire school year due to her determination to excell.
This school is a hot mess very disorganized and I don't believe my child is getting a quality education so I must supplement her education myself to ensure her success. Now the staff and admin. team are very friendly and I feel welcomed in the school but the area of education is what concerns me most or the lack of education.
Renaissance Middle School is a good place to send your child. It is a wonderful place to learn and they are very strict on different policies. Uniform is mandatory and the kids there seem to have a good time from the view of my eyes. If you would want to look at the school website and see for yourself go onto:http://www2.fultonschools.org/school/Renaissance/ and here you could find weekly updates on the things that go on
I am a student of Renaissance Middle School. I am very dissappointed on how this school turned out. I had very high hopes on coming to this school, but as the year went on the decreased day by day. There are little after school and extra activities, besides sports. Also the teachers are un-happy with the number of students that they have since most of their classes are over crowded. I wouldnt recomend that anyone prefer to send their child to this school. You will be very un-happy with the support and administration.
