Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This school is exactly what is represents itself to be! My husband and I graduated one son from NGCS and have another entering 3rd grade there! What a wonderful, nurturing environment with exceptional accessibility to teachers and athletics in the Hall County area! Our older son is a sophomore at NGU in Dahlonega on a Zell Miller Scholarship and has pledged Sigma Chi (ie...Brett Baier from Fox News!). He is happy, well-adjusted and thriving in college. Our younger son is progressing well entering 3rd grade and feels safe, supported and challenged! WE LOVE THIS SCHOOL! So much heart! Almost all of the teachers have been with the school for years! Christian Character - Christian Beliefs - Christian Support!!!!! fiscally responsible and experienced leadership assures us that the tuition will remain affordable!

North Georgia is a loving, supportive school for our three children. The teachers are very experienced and professional and it shows. The administratiion is encouraging and working to build a school that encourages our children to live for Christ. We heartily recommend this school to families looking for a partner in helping to prepare their children for Kingdom living and leadership in the world.

Our three children have attended NGCS for five years and they love it. We are especially pleased with the love and care they receive from teachers and staff. The reading program is excellent and the Biblical emphasis is just right.

NGC is an excellent school. Our daughter has attended the school for many years, and we have been very pleased. The academics include a biblical worldview and the school offers a loving environment for the students and a strong sense of community for the family. She has participated in sports and other extra curricular activities. We would not consider any other school for her education.

I am sad to see what the board has done to our wonderful school. It seems as though they are determined to run this school into the ground. While enrollment has steadily declined over the past few years, the board continues to push the idea of building new facilities. They have broken away from the church and become their own entity. I believe this is a recipe for disaster. I doubt there will even be a NGCS or WCS in a year or two. Instead of concentrating on improving what already exsists the focus is on expanding into something else, no matter the cost. It is irresponsible and quite sad to see the school board run this school into the ground. Shame, shame.

My oldest child is a graduate of WCS (attended 3rd-12th grades). I have found that she was very well prepared for college! I still have 2 children in the school, and I am so blessed to have them there. Not only are they being prepared academically, but I am grateful that they have aquired spiritual discernment. Even though there are improvements to be made (just as in any school), I am grateful that my children have been blessed with an education from a Biblical view. We love WCS!!!

I was very discouraged by the comments made about this school. It strives and achieves academic excellence. Its SAT scores prove it! I love that WCS does not prepare for CRCT/SAT testing the whole year. No school is perfect. Every school has something to work on. If you come to WCS/NGCS, it should not only be for the academic excellence it provides for students, but most importantly the Christian worldview.

We have attended school at WCS for 8 years. I am excitd at the changes and growth that we have been blessed to witness at WCS. The Board, Administration and staff, and qualified teachers have all strived to handle all problems over the years from a bibilical christian standpoint. There is a wholesome family atmosphere here with very supportive involved parents. My child has excelled in academics and when he needed extra help, teachers have been willing to stay after school regularly to tutor. We have felt that WCS truely partners with parents to help build Christian character in our children and help prepare them for life in the World.

We have been at WCS for two years and have been pleased with the education of our child. We are very excited about the new Head of School, Scott Smith, and believe that he is the man God has placed to turn things around. We have thought about placing our child in public school but believe that WCS is the best place for our family - we love WCS!

It disturbs me of what ive read in these reviews. All you can see is either the people whose job it is to lie and advertise giving us unfairly good, and people who hate the place giving failling ones. I cant support a Christian school who says things they dont actually keep just to make as much money as possible.

This school has been in a constant state of chaos and transition for years. It lacks academic leadership and qualified, caring teachers. It does not provide 'academic excellance' or 'partnering with the parents' as it advertises.

I have 2 children at the elementary level and 1 in the high school. All of my children are growing very strong academically and being taught not just A+ academics but a strong work ethic, Christian character (reinforcing what we, as parents, are striving to teach) as well as being held to the highest standards of accountability by wonderful, nurturing, very qualified teachers. My high-school student is being challenged in AP courses and also plans to dual enroll with a local college next year to get a jump on college credits (with much help, encouragement and guidance from the WCS Faculty). This year WCS extracurricular offerings have increased and that has added to the great sense of community within the school body. We are looking forward to seeing even more offerings and opportunities. I feel a great sense of blessing, peace and security knowing my children and family are part of WCS.

My children have been at WCS for 7 years. While no place is perfect, anytime I have had an issue we have been able to resolve it with respect and grace. We are very pleased with WCS. My children have been challenged academically and even more importantly spiritually. WCS is distinctly Christian and as a parent I highly value the assitance WCS provides me in raising up my children to honor God and see the relationship of God to every area of thier lives. I want my children to be trained with so they are well prepared to take the light of the gospel into college, work or where ever the Lord sends them. Academically, I will put my childrens' preparation up against any school in the area. I would recommend WCS to any parent who wants a Christian education for thier child.

We are completely disappopinted at Westminster Christian School. When our children first attended Westminster, it was avery good academic institution with biblical teaching and a good wholesome family type atmosphere. With the assumption of power by new school board members, that atmosphere and quality are now missing. We are not sending our children back to this school. We would encourage anyone who is considering this school to really investigate if it is a viable alternative to public school. We do not think so.

WCS is pleased to announce that we have greatly enhanced our Safety Program. We have installed state-of-the-art software, strategically-located cameras, a sophisticated video (recording) system, and key cards for designated staff. The WCS Security and Safety committee, along with Westminster Parent-Teacher Organization (WPTO ) , have worked diligently over the past six months to do everything possible to ensure that our children remain safe during the school day. There are other safety measures already in place and we need you to know and feel totally confident that we take this aspect of our school very, very seriously. The protection of our children is a major focus of the WCS School Board and Administration. We welcome your questions and comments regarding your children and the safe environment in which we operate.

After reading several reviews I feel I need to submit some thoughts. My child has been at WCS for 5 years and I have been very pleased. I am concerned about the negative comments about the 3 headmasters in 3 yrs. The headmaster, Dr. Smith,we started with had been there for several years. He left to pursue a career on the college level after much thought and prayer. After him we did have Mr Bouvier for a short time. But he worked us through getting our 2nd accrediation and we are currently working to achieve the national accredidation for private christian schools. Academically my child has been well prepared. In fact more prepared than friends that are in public school in hall, lumpkin and forsyth counties. I know there are areas that need improvement and these concerns are being addressed. But I am happy biblically and academically.

I must say that Westminster was a colossal disappointment for our family in the 2006-2007 school year. Clearly, we will not be returning. WCS lacks true leadership at the administrative level. There are discernible issues of instability at WCS. The absence of a headmaster (three in the last four years) and the inability to retain teachers and students are a basis for tremendous concern. Safety and discipline are very inadequate indeed. In regard to discipline, students are not punished equally for an equivalent noncompliance. Academically the school is mediocre. Teachers are encouraged to all teach the same and acquire little support from the administration/school board. Much improvement is needed if the school is honestly to profess academic excellence.

Westminster Christian School was a terrible disappointment. We expected excellence as the school's mission states. However, this was not at all the case. The school has issues with administrative stability. For example,WCS has had 3 different headmasters in the past 4 years and is currently looking for the 4th. In addition to this troubling fact, retaining competent teachers seems to be difficult for WCS. Most importantly, safety is a huge issue at WCS. The campus is far from being a safe environment for the students. Overall, a huge disappointment. A word to the wise--spend your hard earned money somewhere else. Especially if you want a quality education for your child.

I would not recommend WCS to prospective families. In fact, I would advise them to run away from this school as fast as they can! It was a huge disappointment in many areas. Instability seems to rank all the way to the very top of the hierarchy. WCS does not seem to stress safety for the children, as the school has various campus safety issues. The teachers seem dissatisfied with the school. My family will definitely not be returning to WCS.

May 23, 2007
My child is happy at WCS but much improvement is needed. Mastery in academics is not stressed, test taking is stressed. Memorizing for a test is not teaching. Creative methods need to be employed by all staff. Behavior issues are not dealt with consistently and conduct standards and expectations seem to be very, very low. I would like to see program/teacher evaluation input from parents with feedback from administrators/board. Keeping current families satisifed would certainly help with bringing in new families. I cannot recommend WCS to prospective families. The current principal is overloaded and needs much support. She has a wonderful vision for WCS and a wonderful spirit of love and concern for children. She needs staff with the same values.

Our soon to be senior son has been attending Westminster since 7th grade. While many changes have occurred at the school through the years, we could not be happier or more proud of him. WCS has helped mold his character and made him a confident Christian in our secular world. The school as a whole (teachers, students, school board, parents) has made a positive impact in both his and his parent's lives.

The quality of the academic programs have been excellent, especially in the middle and high school science program. Our ninth grader has had Latin this year and will take Spanish next year. The extracurricular activities our kids are involved in are basketball, soccer, tennis, student government, band and volleyball. There is a family atmosphere here where you know the teachers and staff take a special interest in your child's spiritual and academic development. It is a great school to be a part of!

This school has been excellent in the past years. With the School Board looking to change the scope of the school, I feel it will lose its family atmosphere at the expense of the student. The School Board is too involved in daily activities. Teahcers are excellent, but I feel they are becoming discouraged with the meddling form the school board.

My daughter came to Westminster in Kindergarten. She originally started in public school and was very shy. Everything changed her lst day at WCS. She was welcomed and made to feel special by a very loving and caring teacher. That has been the difference for us. The warmth shown by the teachers and their ability to talk about God has made such a difference in my daughter's life. She is now in 4th grade. We couldn't imagine being anywhere else. The education she has received has been top notch as well as giving her that much needed spiritual foundation. You, as a parent, can be as involved as you want to be. Everyone is welcomed with open arms. Westminster has been such a blessing to our entire family and we are thankful to have found them!

We are very pleased with the teachers at WCS and the academic experience our children are getting. We have compared it to the public and other private options and feel WCS offers an exceptional academic environment while also strongly sharing a Godly world view. The school is teaching my children to be Christians in the real world.

Our family has been involved with this school for years, and while we have sometimes peered over the fence at wider class options and more competitive teams at public school, we decided the Christian worldview we get at WCS has much more life-long benefit than the 'Big School Baubles.' They are teaching our children HOW to think, not WHAT to think, comparing authors, world-events, etc. to Scripture so the students can determine what is true according to God. This is not available in any secular setting and has the potential to change MANY lives. WCS is a covenant school, so most other parents love the Lord and place high value on education and discpline as we do. Still, we had to choose Worldview over football -- hard for some people!

We have been quite pleased with the elementary education part. We are very familiar with the hall county public schools and we see the marked advantages of small class sizes for our child, along with tremendous enthusiasm of our childs instructors. Although costs will approach 6,000 dollars/year we think it is worth it.

If I could rate the school from 0 to 10 (10 being the best), I would rate it as follows: Adminstration 1 Teachers 7 Extra Curricular Activities for Elementary 2 Extra Curricular Activities for HSchool 8 School Lunches 9 School Appearance Outside 2 School Appearance Inside 4 School Library Resources 4 (very small library but very pleased with librarian) Teacher Webpages 3 (seem all alike and not very detailed) School Discipline 2 Chapel for students 8 Student pickup and drop off (before/after school) 5 After-school program 8 I think this school needs to try harder in many aspects. It needs to start with the administration. The administration needs to show more teacher support, offer more programs for the elementary students, allow more creativity among the teachers regarding their teacher webpages. I read another review online, and yes I agree the teacher webpages are too alike. The administration seems to dislike creativity and individualism in its teachers. There is also so much gossip among parents.

I love that music, science lab, and art is provided. I am not pleased with the management this year it has caused too much attention and has taken away what Westminster had years ago. I hope changes will be made. It is disappointing when administrators don't fit and make other teachers seem like they don't fit a mold. I have spoken with teachers and the vision seems that the administrators (both of them) want the teachers in each grade to teach the same. Teachers have diff. styles and classes move at diff. paces and when teachers are focused to follow with another teacher it stomps out teacher creativity. Look at how the teacher pages in the grade are identical each week, that is troubling. What if one class is slower than another? Changes need to me made. We don't want cookie cut teachers we need more than that.

Westminster seeks to be excellent in everything for the glory of God. As a parent, I have greed with, and been pleased with, this focus. My children at Westminster have been taught to see everything as worship and as a response to God. I have been extremely pleased and do not think that any other school in the Gainesville area can offer the same focus. Westminster provides a good, Christian education. As every school and every person, Westminster is not perfect, but perfection is impossible this side of glory. Westminster provides something no other school in the area can provide--a Christian education!

We love Westminster Christian School! We checked all schools in Hall County and were most impressed with Westminster. The academics are much more advanced than the public schools in this county. My friend has kids in the same grade in a public school in this distract and the academics are not at the same high level as Westminster. The teachers are very loving and caring. There is an incredible amount of parent involvement at this school.
