CAA is a great school. My children have excelled at CAA. I always feel welcomed when I go to the school. My son is in Middle School now and received a great start with CAA. My daughter has loved all her teachers and is doing great.
Centennial Arts is a horrible place. The principal shouldn't be there, she is no help and never will be. Her personally is not a good role model. She doesn't have children of her own, so how would she really understand. Parents are not feeling welcome and are scare away by the principal. She doesn't want to help just wants her paycheck. This school safety is a joke just like the principal.
I am highly dissatisfied with the deterioration of the school s education. I do not approve of a school not having an Awards Night. What parent doesn t want to support their child s achievements & what child doesn t want to be recognized? Okay No child left behind t; however, what about rewarding those who excel in Eng.,Math,Science,or any extra-curricular activities for that matter? I have meet and spoken with the principal there and am NOT impressed. Instead of trying to help, she points her finger back at you and asks you if you have a better idea? I do not have a teaching degree, but I can certainly tell you that if you are in a leading role, by asking me such a question, I d say Lady- you are in the wrong position! Parents are discouraged from volunteering at the school.Parent teacher conferences are not scheduled unless there is a concern with your child. Every school I know of, offer parents the options of having a conference or not. I am a concerned parent & would like to know what is being taught, & how my child is doing in class. She needs to learn what the meaning of being engaged means, then, maybe parents will feel that the school actually cares about its students.
It's time for someone to start responding to the negative feedback that's appearing on this site. Centennial Arts Academy is not the should it was. The teachers are highly discouraging of parental involvement. The gifted program is not anywhere as challenging as it should be. The principal has eliminated academic recognition is is downright rude to parents who walk in the door to participate when invited. How has she risen to this position? She has the personilty of a fish and really has not made any positive influence. I would hate to teach in this environment. I will not be sending my youngest child to this school.
Great school! My daughter, who was basically basically introverted, is in her 4th year at CAA. Since starting school at CAA, she has bloomed! Her kindergarten teacher, Ms. Whitaker, was great! Her first grade teacher, Mrs. Boyers, was fantastic also! Her second grade teacher, Mrs. Orr, was awesome! And her third grade homeroom teacher, Mrs. Izaguirre, and math teacher, Mrs. Brewer, are both superior teachers! I am very pleased with quality of education that she is receving at CAA. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The Principal, Ms. Williams, and the Assistant Principal, Mrs. Frierson, BOTH do an incredible job. Ms. Williams, who was the Assistant Principal to Mrs. Gilliam, the former principal, is really doing a wonderful job! Ms. Williams assisted Mrs. Gilliam, who was also great, for many years. Ms. Williams knows her job! If she wasn't capable of performing her job, believe me, she would not be the principal of CAA. I believe when parents show up, and show an interest in their child's education, the child performs better, and the staff knows that the parent cares. We have a policy in America, "No child left behind", no matter what their situation is.
I would honestly say that the education at Centennial is declining because they have to teach to the lowest common denominator. When a hispanic kid moves in fresh from Mexico, he is placed in my child's class regardless of his ability. He may not even speak a lick of English, and this is very realistic, and the teacher is in a furry to get this hispanic child performing at a higher level so he can pass his CRCT and our school is not placed on a needs improvement list. My child, meanwhile, is relegated to self instruction via "centers". The gifted program is not fit for such a title as the gifted instructors will assign projects for the child to do at home and after the project is submitted, you will never hear any feedback. My only other beef with the school is the lunch program. A bunch of the kids are on the free lunch, however, they have the $.75 to buy a high fat ice cream snack after they each the free lunch. The school is definitely lack strong leadership, however, the assistant principal does a super fine job. I still can not figure out what the principal does for the school except for the afternoon announcements and some other petty job functions.
This school have poor principals and staffs. They bullies the children. They are racist bunch of people. The staffs are there for the paycheck. My child has been label and bully everyday. It is not a great school to go to for children. They do not want to communicate with parents period.
This past year was the best experience I have had with my daughter at Centennial Arts Academy! Her teacher, Ms. Wood, was outstanding - all-around caring, fun, challenging, and knowledgable!! The administration was the only problem with this school year...
This has been the best school for my autistic son and his gifted younger brother. The staff all treat them as individuals and adresses their needs accordingly.
The teachers at Centennial as well as the administrators have nurtured both of my children and provided outstanding educations. My oldest is excelling in middle school now, I feel, due to the attention and guidance she received at Centennial. The teaches are loving and supportive.
i love my school caa its the best school any students can have and the teachers care about your progress and listen to what u hace to say they really care about you
Centennial is a great school. My daughter had a very easy move from preschool to kindergarten at Centennial. Ms. Whitaker is a great teacher.
I love the school. It's always clean. The teacher's really care about the children's education .That says a lot about the school. I am very pleased.
This school is well run, has an amazing principal, wonderful teachers, and well behaved students who love their school. It is an impressive institution. Every school should be like Centennial!
