I sent my oldest son to Riverside for his Jr year in the fall of 2012. He is very bright but lacked the self discipline, focus, and drive to succeed. He just graduated, with self confidence, more self discipline, and the drive to get him where he wants to go. During his two years, he has developed personal relationships with fellow cadets, teachers and staff that have built him up, and encouraged him to reach his personal potential. His younger brother, having seen the transformation with his older brother expressed an interest in attending Riverside. He has jus completed his Jr year at Riverside. The one thing he will tell you, is that it is great to be in a classroom where you can feel that the teacher not only wants to be there, but also wants the student to learn and succeed. As a parent I will say that the environment is developmental. It teaches boys to respect boundaries, and work within them, and that tough love is just that, love. Every staff member has every boy's best interest at heart. It amazes me how in tune the staff is to each individual boy. My younger son says it is great to be in a classroom where the teacher wants to teach, and see students succeed.

My seniors are currently studying Kant's essay, "What is Enlightenment?" In that essay, he describes some of the key relationships between guidance, freedom, sound judgment and a sound society. At Riverside, we take our role as temporary guardians very seriously, and in our approach to education, we model the importance of balancing the freedom of expression with structure and self-discipline. We do not tell cadets what to think; rather, we show them how to think while giving them resources to extend what they know and what they can accomplish. Many schools do this, but I know of no other school where the entire community is invested in constant improvement. From the care of our facilities, to the design and execution of our academic program, to the administration of the school, we are always modeling that union between order, creativity, courage and determination that is necessary to growth.

My son, a graduate of RMA 2004 was enrolled at RMA in 10th grade, he came from a local high school that was too large, the classrooms were too crowded and after a month into the school year the teachers had no clue who he was as we found out when we made an appt to speak to them about his "C" grades. That same day he was taken out to come to RMA, the only person upset was his football coach. The first few months were hard for him and me but we made it through it knowing that he was where he needed to be to be able to have a head start after graduation. His grades came up from C's to A's almost immediately and he was still active in football and almost every other sport offered at RMA, he was also wrestling state champ 2013 and made Hall County's premier sport players and was also invited and played in Hawaii with several other elite players around the country and never missed a stride in his academics. Because of his high grades he was a member of RMA's Horton Society and also Who's Who and was accepted easily accepted into 3 colleges, he is now working on his higher degree while working full time, married and being a new father. I thank RMA with its wonderful teachers and staff!!

Riverside has unparalleled facilities, but most importantly, has unparalleled faculty and staff who are completely devoted to the mission of developing young men of competence, character, and commitment. The school is incredibly diverse and at last count the boys come from 25 countries and 30 states. Its proximity to Atlanta makes it a convenient option for non-regional and international boarding students. The teachers, TACs, Commandant, coaches, and staff are truly exceptional people who care for each cadet. The classes are small and the results are impressive. They have a 100% college acceptance rate and Riverside cadets garner millions in College scholarships and grants. Their acceptance rate into top-tier universities and military academies is very high, and the unique nature of the military environment helps boys to stay engaged, involved, and having fun. Riverside is a GREAT place for boys. I highly recommend it to anyone I meet.

Riverside Military Academy has been an excellent choice for our son who was struggling academically at his previous school. The small class sizes, engaged teachers, and structured daily schedule have helped our son achieve his potential. Everyone from the President to the Commandant to the TAC officers care about the boys and are committed to their academic, spiritual, and social development.

Riverside Military Academy's faculty, staff, cadet families, and alumni are involved with campus activities and supportive of the cadets. It's a great setting for impressionable boys to build character and become distinguished young men. The campus is located on 206 beautiful acres beside Lake Lanier. It's a great place for boys to live and learn!

This is my first year here at RMA and I love working with the students. The incredible consistency across the board is the 180 degree turn that students make academically after they begin attending Riverside. It is a school that truly prepares students for college and life beyond that. A school that truly cares for its students; makes every effort to ensure their needs are met both personally and academically.

I was struggling my freshman and sophomore year of highschool, I Attended RMA my junior year in 1994. The school itself, the coaches, and the teachers helped incredibly! The structure that they instilled in me has helped me tremendously. I was able to become a successful coach in multiple sports, And have some fun with it along the way. Not to mention the friendships and the bonds that you create while attending the school. It was truly one of the best years of my life! Thank you very much for the life lessons and everything that RMA tought me. Sincerely John Ferreura

There is no other finer school that I've ever encountered than RMA. The teachers are involved and communicative with parents and are genuinely interested in helping their students succeed. The staff and leadership are some of the finest individuals I know. They have incredible backgrounds. The school not only focuses in academics but life skills and character development. Respect, honor, commitment. All of the programs offered for their cadets help prepare them for the real challenges that exists when they graduate. I would recommend this school to anyone. Take the time to visit and attend one of their open houses, talk with the staff - you will be very impressed.

Riverside Military Academy is an excellent school for success! It is the best school in USA and one of the best in the World! The elegant campus surrounded by beautiful mountains and lakes located in the safe town of Gainesville, GA. We are originally from Europe and an education is very important in our family. The Riverside has an excellent curriculum; everyone from a Riverside Academy Staff is good role models for cadets and they are care about every student. My son's story, one of many in the 100 year history of RMA, may be evidence of this. Every penny you will spend on an education your son in RMA, will return a hundredfold, during your son s future life, based on what they learned there. This school for boys who will grow to into a successful man, a good citizen, a good role model and good family man a complete person! From proud mother of Silver Star Cadet.

We enrolled our son in the beginning of his junior year. The school(s) he previously attended did not challenge him or excite him and he was bored with the "day to day" dull routine of public / private schools. It was a very tough decision to even think about military school let alone sending him away to one, we did not know what to do, but we had to make a decision for his future, he is a bright and smart child and we knew that we had to send him away for his own good and (most importantly) let him see what he was capable of. Well, lets cut to his senior year (this year), he is doing wonderful, he is a A/B student, he has a leadership position, his attitude towards school is great and the change in his overall outlook in life is great. This change can only be attributed to Riverside Military Academy, the school and all who work there are in it for two reasons: 1. To help the cadets get into college 2. To take boy and turn them into young respectable men I highly recommend this school to anyone that is interested in the future of their son. From one proud parent...

My son attended RMA from 7th through 12th grade and our family is thrilled with the results! The TAC Officers, instructors and administration were amazingly interested in the success of our son. There were some hard lessons learned over the years but those lessons were some that most people either never learn or don't until much later in life. You and your son will get out of RMA what you put into RMA. If your son is open minded and willing to learn, he will go far! It takes a tough young man to attend RMA but it takes a tough parent as well. If your son gets accepted at RMA, allow them to do their job. Your son is in a safe place and learning lessons he will not get elsewhere. My son is a young man that is confident and polite. He looks you in the eye when you speak to him. He doesn't place value in social media and gaming because he wasn't exposed to it to the degree that his counterparts had been therefore he is productive and now attends a military college in SC. We are excited about his future because of his past at RMA.

Having attended Riverside Military Academy prepared me for life in a way few schools then (1970s), or not could possibly. I attended 4 yrs, and graduated in the top 10% of my Class in 1980, and went on to be commissioned into the US Army Reserve at age 20. I completed a Master's degree and retired from the service 7 yrs ago as a field grade officer. Without Riverside, the likelihood of either of these two accomplishments would be unlikely at best. My RMA experience was 31 years ago, and many of the fine instructors and leaders I knew are retired, or gone now. COL Jim Benson, (who is the school President now) since 2009, has led a rebirth of what I believe is the finest college prep schools in our nation. Students from Riverside are sculpted into fine young men or exemplary character and responsibility. And most go onto a university experience on partial or full academic or sports scholarships. Very few schools or universities can prepare your son for life the way RMA can.

Riverside Military Academy is the school that most parents wished were in their hometown for their son. Our local schools were failing and the classrooms were not conducive to learning. My son was falling further behind and I could not seem to reach him. So I considered Riverside for summer school. This was best decision we made for him. I wish I could broadcast it on every television or radio station and all social media. Riverside = Great environment, exceptional teachers, excellent curriculum. Structured, but allows the cadets the freedom to be creative and ingenious. Parents are always keep updated on school and students status. No bullying, hazing, or intimidation. I knew my son was smart and could be a honor student--Riverside brought it to manifestation. Each time I see him I am more amazed at how well he has developed into a productive, caring and respectful young man. If you are looking for a better education for your son, combined with a behavior change in his life and is willing to invest in your son's future--you should invest in Riverside. You will not be disappointed.

There is no dress rehearsal in life... you only have one shot with your children. As a father of 3 boys, it was becoming painfully clear that the public schools have no clue how to engage and educate boys. My eldest son is now a freshman at RMA. It has changed his life. He is confident and assertive, because he is challenged, and confidence comes as a result of real acheivement and character...something Riverside excels in. His grades have improved dramatically, because he understands what it means to be held accountable, both by his instructors and by his peers. Riverside has leadership opportunities for your child like no other school. It is expensive, and our family has had to make extreme sacrifices to send our son there, but it is without a doubt the best investment we have ever made. I would say that if you love your son, and you understand there is a fundamental difference between educating boys and girls, then look into Riverside Military Academy. It is a GREAT school.

After a dreadful freshman year in public school my son, who is extremely bright but was lacking in organization and motivation, told us that he would get a GED. That was not acceptable to us, neither was hearing him blame others for his lack of achievement and follow-through. We'd saved for his college education since he was born, indications were we wouldn't need the saved college money as he would have trouble graduating from high school. We took the difficult step of enrolling him at RMA (after visiting and researching other military schools). He emerged from his first year there with an A average and an understanding that he CAN be a good student and that HE is responsible for the success he has achieved at RMA and will have in life. He's planning for college now (and being contacted by colleges interested in him!) and having opportunities that he couldn't have imagined while at his former school. RMA is big enough to offer a broad range of classes and extracurriculars. The staff is exceptional. He was excited to go back for his second year..we wish we had done RMA sooner (9th grade) rather than optimistically waiting for him to succeed at his former school.

Being a graduate of Riverside Military Academy, I can say that this school has prepared me for the realities of life in multiple aspects; such as leadership, responsibility, and integrity. While being away from home was difficult, I made many life time friends that I know I will hold onto for the rest of my life. If you're considering sending your son here, I would highly recommend it, while he may not feel so happy about it at first, he will definitely learn to love what the school does for him developmental wise. On top of making me prepared for the real world, it has a world class education that you just can't get at a normal private school or a public school. I would definitely say that this school has made me who in am today, and I'm proud of it.

Riverside Taking our boys to Riverside Military Academy is one of best decisions & investments that we ever made for our boys. Their nature and character has been transformed so much and the level of self discipline. They now have total control of their academics, their future planning and are working towards their set goal without pressure from anyone. Although the RMA staff are tough on all boys, my boys consider that as stepping-stone for themselves and exceeds the expectation. In summary, RMA can guarantees the following: leadership, accountability, independence, respect for protocol, self-discipline, high academic performance & team work. Given a chance again, I'll make the same decision over & over again.

Because my son's training and education is important to me, we have gone on a journey over 2 continents and 4 countries seeking his education. Some of the schools that my son attended are considered some of the best private schools in the world ( and also some of the most expensive). None of these schools compare to the education and example of gentelmenly comportment that my son is receiving at Riverside Military Academy. He is only recently enrolled, but already, the transformation in his attitude and outlook has been significant. I am gratefully impressed by Riverside Military Academy.

Riverside Military Academy changed my son's life! He needed structure that his more traditional school didn't offer. RMA delivered! Riverside has been around for over 100 years, and I've been here for 20. The leadership is as strong as it's ever been, and it shows in the boys' morale and discipline. We work hard to hold them to high standards as well as to catch them when they fall. If teachers don't truly care about young men, they don't stay here-- we have an extremely dedicated faculty. Our facilities are fabulous, but it's the people that truly make this a special place.

Riverside Military Academy is outstanding in every way and exactly where my son needs and wants to be. He is thriving in a place doing what no public school can offer. He is learning responsibility, accountability, love for his country, how to be a gentleman and in general how to be a respectful man. His days are full of academics and physical activity - there is no down time at RMA, but the school is and has been teaching boys how to be men for over 100 years and God willing will always continue to do so. What this school produces, for those that work hard and understand what they are receiving there, and strive to be the best, is the future of this great nation, the United States of America. God bless Riverside Military Academy!!

RMA is a school with exceptional facilities and staff who are committed to the success of students. This is my son's fourth year at RMA. This is his Sophmore year. He is a very bright young man and was previously at a school for gifted students. Even though I was very happy with his current school, my child lacked the drive to thrive in the self starter environment. RMA gave him the added structure and discipline to get him on the right track. I would highly recommend RMA to anyone who feels their child needs just a little extra push to be all that he can be. I also wanted to mention that RMA has around 95% college placement for each graduating class. And, the graduating class of 2013 received over $3 million in scholarships. I am a parent who is very involved in my son's life, both at home and at school and am glad to say that parental involvement is very much welcomed at RMA.

I had knowledge of Riverside Military Academy for some years, and I was at a point in which I had to choose a direction for my son, to decide over separating from him for the purpose of a successful future or to let him fall by the wayside. I decided to take a chance and call the Academy to talk with an admissions counselor. I must say that I had a pleasant experience with Mr. Tom Martin and Mrs. Kayla Cox. Both counselors assisted and advised me on each aspect and I was able to enroll my son in such a prestigious school as Riverside. I have seen so many changes in my son already, and a complete turnaround in a very positive way. My son is talking about attending college every day. I am so glad I made the decision to enroll my son at Riverside and Riverside is an excellent choice for boys. The regiment, structure and discipline along with academics all contribute to making the cadets and the school a success. Thank you once again, Riverside...Im glad to know of such an impressive school such as this one.

Would not recommend this school to anyone. I attended this school my junior and senior year and I regret every minute of it. I'm not a bad troubled kid and in a way that'd the problem. If your a good kid then this school just depresses you and you'll hate it. If your troubled then this school makes you more troubled with all the fights, hazing, drugs, and a TON of tobacco. This school is literally like a prison and I would not recommend going here. To end on a good note the teachers are nice but everything else is as bad as it can be.

We placed my son at RMA after he had a failing year in 8th grade. He has never been in any trouble but was totally unmotivated in every sense, and especially when it came to grades. We toured several schools and were most impressed with RMA. After his first year, my son is on a new path, enjoying academic success for the first time, as well as a significantly higher self esteem. The qualities RMA instills translates into real positive growth in young men and it has been apparent to both my husband and I. The structure has been excellent for my son, as has the required study time and the small classes. Our son now knows he is capable of doing the academic work. He came home for the summer proud of his work, proud of his school and eager to return in the Fall. He is enthusiastic about school for the first time. Next year he hopes to be a squad leader, and then continue to advance up the leadership track. Additionally, he is looking to college because the expectation comes from his peers, not just his parents. By far, this is one of the best decisions my husband and I have ever made. RMA is an excellent choice for our son.

RMA has been a wonderful for our son. In public school, his grades were terrible. He would not do and/or turn in work (even work he had completed!). Doing fine on tests but getting lousy grades. He even failed a class. Nothing (organization coach, educational psychologist, teacher meetings, yelling, restrictions, no access to electronics) had a discernable effect on him. His options for the future were slipping away. By the end of 9th grade, we thought he might not graduate on time. There are many military boarding schools in our state (coed, all-boy, large, small, with post-graduate programs) but none impressed us as RMA did. The staff was welcoming, the campus beautiful. RMA is big enough to have a wide range of academics and extracurriculars.. Cost is on par with schools closer to home. We hate that RMA is 10 hours away but are glad that he can row there (we found only two military boading schools in the US that offer crew). The change in our son is remarkable. He has an A avg and is excited about his future. He is looking forward to his junior and senior years. He feels good about himself and is becoming the student we knew he could be. A hard but good decision.

I have been attending Riverside since my Freshman year and for the time I've been here it's helped me change my whole outlook on life. The only way you could ever get a negative experience from here is going into the school with a bad attitude and not wanting to achieve anything. I had my outlook on it like that before I came, but when I got here, I instantly felt a sense of responsibility and integrity. Yes, the 30 day ROC cycle was difficult, but it proves the point that you are new and have to learn everything and get accustomed to new things and surroundings. It annoys me when people call Riverside a prison because its only going to be as good as the work and effort you put into it. It can work for you and your sons, just have the positive outlook and I'm sure you'll love it and see the change like my parents did! Come here!

Riverside has been great for my boys! My oldest son, now a Junior, arrived on campus as a complacent student who barely passed 8th grade. RMA has transformed him into a motivated student with a 3.5 GPA, leadership responsibilities, Nat'l Honor Society, Varsity Football, etc. Now he's receiving recruitment letters from Major southern universities. My other son who is a Sophomore at RMA arrived as an already-motivated student. He's taking AP classes, ranked in the Top 5 of his class, Asst. Drum Major, Varsity Tennis, Raiders Team, etc. He is already receiving letters from colleges like Emory and Vanderbilt. My youngest son also attends RMA and has consistently ranked in the Top 5 of his class since the beginning of the year. The boys complain about the food, which hasn't impressed me at all since changing food service companies last year. In all, RMA is a great school for students who are willing to adapt and change themselves. The school has a slogan that reads, "An Opportunity For Success". RMA is a prep school, not a reform school. Parents need not expect remarkable changes in their sons unless their sons are willing to do the work.

The school is a joke! Most of the teachers are only there for a check. Please only place your child here as a last resort! The President Col. Benson is clueless as is the Commandant LTC Jerrard, only if your family is wealthy will you matter. The campus is great, however education is secondary. This is the place where parents put there children because they don't have time for them and it shows. BUYER BEWARE! The turnover of teachers and students is very high. Most of the key personnel here have no idea what they are doing. The inter school communication is almost non-exsistent. If you love your son do not place him here, get him a therapist instead. Again Do Not Leave your son here, unless you have No Other Options!

I was looking for a boys' oriented education for my son as he was becoming more disconnected from school and his fellow students. He had gone from being the "Top Boy" to a C average. I also wanted a school that went beyond academics and focused on the whole child - mind, body, and guidance in what it is to be good and what it is to strive toward a common good. The strict expectations and discipline are tough and expectations are high. But once over the initial hurtle, the environment has worked wonders to get my son back on track and headed into adulthood prepared to be both a leader and a good citizen. The math program is excellent, small size that moves the advanced kids along at a rapid pace covering a year and a half of material in the year. The literature classes are designed for boys and my son who had previously refused to read the assigned books is now in honors lit. All departments contained highly dedicated professionals who care deeply and do what they can to insure success. The school is not perfect, but when issues arise they are handled in an open and respectful manner. RMA encourages parent -teacher-staff interaction, the dean blogs, and a RMA Facebook groups.

The school on my tour recently by far exceeded my expectations of a school for boys. The staff - super friendly and the curriculum is what I was interested in hearing more about for my son. I thought it was the best choice for my son and was happy to enroll upon acceptance.

Riverside Military Academy is a spectacular school for young men. It is first class in every way. Three of our sons attend Riverside - one graduated last year. We couldn't be happier with the school. Our boys love it there and are truly part of something very special - that only a first rate military academy with caring leadership, faculty and alumni can offer. Riverside has 103 years of history and success to build on. 100% of it's graduates are accepted at colleges throughout the countryand the world. The campus is awe inspiring and is nicer than any prep school and most colleges. The athletics in so many sports adds to the cadets' incredible experiences at Riverside. Riverside is first class! It turns boys into men who are honorable and respectful. It is not training ground for the military (although many cadets attend service academies); it is training for life.

I attended RMA for six years and it has done wonders for me! It helped teach me and guided me to being able to reach my full potential. RMA showed me that everyone has potential to do well and exceed extremely well, but they take it a step further. They help show you how and spend quite a bit of time doing it! Students who clam that they are unfair or that it was too difficult are the students that chose to fight authority instead of respecting it and learning how it works.

I attended RMA at the end of my sophmore year and into my Junior year. When taking a tour I was impressed with the excelent facilities and the amazing athletic department. when I ended up attending there the place felt more like prison. It seemed that they were punishing everyone for no legitimate reason. there were some positives but dorm life left much to be desired.

I am a parent of a cadet who started a few weeks into 2nd semester and he is thriving. Th eopportunities for physical fitness, JROTC and leadership give the boys the oportunity to grow in so many ways.Especially boys who love the outdoors, but may not have a passion for varsity sports.

October, 2007 My son was not excelling or even trying in Public School. He is achieving outstanding grades, is taking initiative to get involved in activities (never before) and his leaders say he is a model cadet. He is thriving in the atmosphere of discipline and everyone there knows how to bring out the best in your son. My son did not want to go there, but he is doing great and would probably tell you that is where he needs to be. The facilities are better than a lot of colleges. The level of academics are impressive - the things he is being asked to do in Lit class I did not do until college. He has also gotten a lot more social, was always a loner before this. We couldn't be happier and all the schools claims are very modest - what they can do.

My son made the choice to attend RMA, in the fall of 04. We questioned his decision, as he has never shown an intrest in learning, other than at his own pace. He has made a 360, in his learning, self dicipline, confidence, and goal achieving. Colonel Hughes is a brilliant man, who has a God given gift for bring out the best in young men. We are thankful that God gave our son the courage to want more for himself and showed him where he should go to achieve it. RMA is truly a school of excellence.

RMA has exceeded our expectations. We were skeptical of the claims they made but they do what they say they will do. Our son has thrived under the structure and discipline offered by this outstanding institution. In reality they do not tell the half of what this school will do for anyone's son. It is the finest thing we have provided for our son. Great school, great facilities, great expectations for their cadets.

RMA is a boys only boarding school, grades 7-12. They follow Army guidelines. They have a strict discipline policy, which keeps the boys focused. Our son is active in their sports program and is on the honor roll. Class size is under 15 students. The campus has been entirely rebuilt within the last 5 years. It is an awesome facility. We are very happy with our decision to send our son there. Seniors earned over $1.8 million dollars in scholarships. RMA has a Jr. ROTC program, also. You can visit their website, Riverside Military Academy@cadet.com.

Riverside teaches plenty of dicipline, organization and some learning skills. Lacks counseling, specially counseling to guide the students into the right college, the best career.

Riverside provides a 24 hour a day environment for success that boys and young men cannot get in most schools. Your son will live with cadets from other parts USA as well as other countries.
