Teachers are great and parents are involved. Both of our children have enjoyed attending Chestatee and made friends with some good kids.
Office Staff is friendly and Administration is caring. I enjoy the Watch Dog program that gets Dads involved in the school. Chestatee is a great school with wonderful teachers.
I don't know where that first comment came from, we just moved to the area and everone we have met at the school has been wonderful. The Office Staff has always greeted me with a friendly face and smile, and that includes everyone else, from the teachers to the maintenance group. Very Friendly. My son loves his teacher, the school and seems to thrive more since there is less drama than you would see in schools closer to the ATL..
i like the school overall but i don't care for some of the teachers who seem a little more stuck up and unwilling to work with parents. the office staff i have dealt with have always had their noses in the air but they treat almost everyone that way except the people they really know and are friends with. i have learned to ignore it but they could be a little more friendly and helpful. as far as education i think they do a great job. my kids love the school.
WWe love chestatee elementary from the first second u walk in the door u r greeted by name with a friendly face. The staff is awesome and caring, the teachers are amazing and truly care.
I have had 1 child go from 1st to 5th here, another child in 3rd grade now, and will have another here in a few years. I love it. We moved here from another county when my first son was in 1st grade. He had been excelling in all his classes at his previous school and was behind at Chestatee because the curriculum was more advanced. We have had 3 tremendously wonderful teachers and 2 good teachers. Will keep my kids here!
I have had 2 children at Chestatee and I have been more than happy with the education that they have received. My daughter is ADHD and the teachers & administration worked hand-in-hand with us to get her to excel despite her learning disabilities. Honestly, we've yet to have a bad teacher. If we do have a teacher that is a little lacking, we make up for it at home. There is little parental involvement which is sad. Parents working together with the admin & teachers is what makes for a successful school. The new administration is a breath of fresh air. She makes it a point to visit with the kids & learns their names. It isn't just THIS school that places importance on the CRCT. Unfortunately, that is something that trickles down from the STATE level.
I have had 3 children attend Chestatee. The first and second year I was simply amazed. My children were thriving, and had the best teachers I could ever ask for. The 3rd year, when my son was in 1st grade, he had a horrible teacher, when my concerns were expressed to the principal, it was actually the asst principal who contacted me back. In my opinion the teacher has no right to even hold a teaching degree. After speaking to many other parents who have had children in her class, they have said each year she picks out a few children in her class and just basically attacks them all year. I really hope this year with the new principal and staff, things will get much better. It is a public school - some teachers care and others just simply are teachers so they can have summers off.
I would have to disagree with the comments that parent concerns are dismissed. For me personally all my concerns have been recieved and the school and I have delt with them with meetings and teamwork. My sons transferred to the school this year and it has been a great experience and every bump in the road we have worked through and modified a gameplan to better serve my sons learning potential. I would just like to say thank you to the teachers and principals.
I have three children who go to chestatee the teachers are great for the most part but the office staff look down on people who don't appear to have alot of money. The principle last year was the worst.I've considered moving to get out of this school maybe with new principle it will get better.
I have to agree with the parent that stated when you bring up your concerns they just dismiss them.I have had the same issue this year.I brought my concerns several times to the ones in command and I just get the 'you have valued concerns, but yet nothing has been done.' We have teachers that do not work with the parents and do not care if the child does well or not. I guess it is to much trouble!! My child did not excel and always has in the past. Do you know they do not look at your childs grades just the CRCT testing and that is all that matters. Really, this is a joke some kids do not test well under pressure. How can you base if a student should move on to the next grade based on one test. We were told this by the teachers.
I have a 1st grader and I love the environment at this school. I just wish the teachers pushed my daughter a little more.
Hi I have a daughter that just started this school in September and the teacher she has is great I do feel that they don't push the kids hard enough. Also there is a bully in my child's class I think they could be a bit more firm with. But the over school has been good so far. the teachers are very friendly.
What your child gets out of this school is totally dependent on what teacher you have. My child has had two very energetic and involved teachers who push the kids, and one that didn't. The adminstration was willing to disccus my concerns, but it didn't change the situation. Overall there is a low rate of parent involvement, which I know is hard on the school. My best recommendation is if your child has to attend this school, seek out the teachers that are known to really get the kids to excel, and request those teachers, and volunteer to help out whenever possible. I also agree with the parent that stated teachers cite parental complaints as a reason for lack of homework and challenging work. Some teachers will address the issue when asked to, and some don't. I have to be the one adding the challenge at home with add'l work.
Having a child that attends there and 2 who have gone on to high school, I find it funny that the previous reviewer said it is sad what they do to bullies and kids who act up. I am glad they take a firm stand on these things. I am sure they are in compliance with county policy. How often do we hear complaints from parents who wish the schools had done more? Students need to learn social responsibility. We just cannot continue to allow children to grow up thinking the world owes them. I applaud Chestatee for taking a firm stand!!!
My grandson has started this school he is in Kindergarden and loves it.
My child is now in seventh grade, and received a wonderful education at Chestatee. Her middle school teachers comment on how well the students from Chestatee do academically. The teachers and administration are attentive and dedicated. This is a great school!
I have been more than satisfied with Chestatee Elem. I have a child who is now in middle school and she couldn't have been better prepared. She is succesful in all advanced classes. The middle school speaks very highly of the standards by which the teachers at Chestatee set, especially 5th. The students were challenged on their level. My other child is a special education student who is currently being served in an inclusion class in 3rd grade. Every teacher and staff member has been more than supportive to ensure she is getting exactly what she needs. I have found that often those people who are disgruntled spent more time complaining to neighbors and on line sites than actually spending time in the school. It is a wonderful school in which to get involved.
I hate to say this, but if your child is ADHD, ADD, OCD, bi-polar please do not make the mistake I did and put your child in this school. They tend to look down upon them as trouble makes and will brand them as such and will do anything to push them out of the school. I have since taking my bi-polar child out of the school and have had to home school him. I was not very pleased with the school at all. I wish all luck with the teacher since they do not like to think out side of the square box. So many children could excel but with the person in charge this will never happen!! I feel sorry for the students!!!
We also had a horrible experience with this school. We also expressed our concerns about poor testing, lack of reading, etc. (we did not 'attack' them), and nothing was ever resolved, just dismissed. In our opinion, this school may have 'friendly' staff, but the actual educating of our children is poor.
