My kids have been to SEMS. One has already graduated from SEHS and my other child is still in SEMS. I moved here for the schools. The teachers are very good, that's not my issue. The issue I have is that there is intirely too many kids that are in the middle school that have access to pills that belong to either the parents or by some other means and are selling them at the school. My graduate has an addiction to one of these pills that he was offered at SEMS and only has gotten worse. I fear for my child that is there now, because she tells me she gets offered drugs on a daily basis. How discouraging this is to me, especially when we came here to get out of Chatham County for that very reason. We no longer live in what was called Effingham, but now Methingham!

South Effingham Middle School promote instability and intimidation amongst the student body. Mr. Iott fails to hold anyone on his staff accountible. Patronizing works at Wal-Mart, but it does not work anywhere else in life. The SEMS students are set up for failure. The crumble of our society is evident in this school system.

My child attended South Elementary and will attend South High. South Middle is a great school. Academics are not only encouraged, but the environment make success attainable. My personal experience with Mr. Pete Iott, Vice Principal, can be summed up in one word, remarkable. I am impressed, and I am hard to impress.
